- redrock34, on 01/13/2008, -2/+23The front looks nice but the side looks like a ***** Subaru.
- colonelbuckshot, on 01/13/2008, -1/+16Is this for real? Looks kindof American.
- screwfanboys1, on 01/13/2008, -1/+14kinda fugly for a Benz imo
- Homerr, on 01/13/2008, -2/+13Just what the world needs, another SUV.
- elithrar, on 01/13/2008, -1/+11Boxy, with tacky bodywork and no real design cohesion. A shame, because the new CLS [with the swift-back design] is very, very appealing.
- jetboyterp, on 01/13/2008, -2/+10It won't outsell the Canyonero F-series...it has a lipsitck holder!
- OisinT, on 01/13/2008, -1/+9Agreed... I'm not feeling it. Lacks a certain classy style that we've come to expect from Mercedes-Benz
- BoneStamp, on 01/13/2008, -0/+8Wow, that is ugly. There is nothing sexy or stylish about this, it's like an off road B class.
- MacNyce, on 01/13/2008, -0/+7Is that a suzuki suv??
- ienjoythebeach, on 01/13/2008, -2/+9*****. so as sweet as it looks, its already been deemed a chick car before its even available?
- Kanaka, on 01/13/2008, -0/+6Just doesn't look like a Benz to me. Looks more like a cross between a Subaru and Jeep Cherokee.....and thats not a good thing. Dunno what's going on with BMW and Mercedes but they seem to be churning out uglier cars with each revision
- OC73, on 01/13/2008, -4/+10It isn't a car I'd be interested in owning, but you gotta laugh at all the lefties on Digg who call this car ugly but then ejaculate all over themselves whenever they see a Prius.
Now THERE's one ugly ass vehicle. - clark24, on 01/13/2008, -0/+6Looks like a RAV4 with ghetto looking rims and a big grill. The interior is boring too.
- inactive, on 01/13/2008, -1/+4oh wow, Kim Catrall? who cares, she sucks. looks like Mr. Bean.
sorry, Mr. Bean. - bobdigi, on 01/13/2008, -0/+3Stud Muffin.
- adamchristopher, on 01/13/2008, -1/+4good call. i am sick of these dainty station wagons being labeled SUV.
- Gravey9, on 01/13/2008, -0/+3ewwwwwwwwww
- saturdaysaint, on 01/13/2008, -0/+3EXACTLY. Luxury SUV's are for trophy wives without taste.
- tehxen3, on 01/13/2008, -0/+3FUGLY
- Chiefster, on 01/13/2008, -0/+2Lot's of Benz SUV type cars look like ass lately... this one is no better
- helooksmortal, on 01/13/2008, -3/+5my buddy had it right... ever since chrysler came on to partner with daimler-benz, most of the mercedes-benz designs have been very american looking (which, i personally don't like because i like a european car to look european).
i think that chrysler was sold this year, too... shame they didn't take their design team with them!
(ps. i'm definitely in love with the new c-class, though. it's hawt.) - colonelpanic, on 01/13/2008, -0/+2Yes. I'm not a big fan of the whole mercedes thing personally, but whats the point of an SUV that you wouldn't want to have any fun with at all? Hell, its unibody as far as I know. If you want something like this, go for a crossover or mini van.
- mancat, on 01/13/2008, -2/+4You will get neither, so don't plan on it.
- rolf, on 01/13/2008, -0/+2I always liked Benzes - they look nice and they build some great motors/transmissions in terms of mechanical quality and reliability. But if you look at Consumer Reports - in reliability they are the worst brand right now and have been so for more than a decade. I can verify this is deserved from personal experience (owned several used) -- the crappiness stems from their poor electrical and computer systems, which 25+ years ago was not an overwhelming part of the car now but now those systems dominate and if a switch or computer chip goes bad.... you're screwed with an outrageous bill for simple things like power window switches (many independent mechanics don't have the tools to work on Benzes). My early 80s wagon was much more reliable and cheaper to upkeep than my much late 90s even though it was older and many more miles on it.
In the meantime, I've smartened up and bought a Honda. I suggest anyone who thinks MB is still a good brand to look at Consumer Reports and make a decision based on reliability and then everything else. It's better for the environment too (not junking a car so often). - deadbaby, on 01/13/2008, -1/+3I'm a lefty and I own a Benz. Stereotypes aren't always accurate. The Prius is a sexy car for its brains, not it's looks.
- deadbaby, on 01/13/2008, -0/+2Disappointing.... Looks almost exactly like the Chevy/Ford SUV with a mercedes logo and a higher price tag. I really like the refined simplicity of the late 90's Mercedes designs which they've seemed to completely abandon. If I wanted a car that looks exactly like other, cheaper cars, I would just opt for the real thing and save myself some money. The only model they have that I like is the new E series and even that is a downgrade from previous designs. Might be time for me to make the switch to BMW or even Toyota.
- morningmatters, on 01/13/2008, -0/+2Everyone has own taste but other vehicles in the same class (Bimmer X5/X6, Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover, etc) are a lot better looking? Mercedes can not longer sell cars by relying on the brand alone so it better do something its car sexier.
- mihkeltt, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1man, that's one ugly merc
- mnick, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1Out of the now 3 current SUVs that Mercedes makes only the G class is decently styled. This one looks like any other(Audi Q7,Subaru Tribeca, Volvo XC90, and Buick Enclave all come to mind)
- inactive, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1So any SUV that is deemed Luxury is hideous? I guess the Honda Element and Pontiac Aztek are much better.
- slapded, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1ugly
- strictnein, on 01/13/2008, -1/+2Looks like a Subaru to me.
- trev0006, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1The GLK is an awesome looking car but I think it is true that lots of Chic's will be owning one or the husband will buy them one. http://www.dpccars.com/mercedes/dpc-mercedes-benz- ... http://www.dpccars.com/
- BoneStamp, on 01/13/2008, -1/+2Yup, and the Chevy has numerous fuel saving configurations: Hybrid, FlexFuel, half engine fuel injector cutoff, six speed transmissions.
- BoneStamp, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1Are you saying that being gay is ugly and therefore this vehicle is gay because it's ugly? If so, that's some ***** up logic.
- captoftheworld, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1*****!
- inactive, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1I wasn't aware building a box and putting wheels on it are considered "styled." But I agree that their SUV's look like *****. However, SLK 55 AMG and CLS AMG's are beautiful cars.
- OisinT, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1People that annoy you?
- BoneStamp, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1Those are the exact same things that dictate popular style! So, as I was saying: people buy SUVs because they believe they are stylish.
- spankaccount, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1"its already been deemed a chick car before its even available?"
It is a glorified mini-van after all... - zspeed78, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1Im sure all other luxury SUV makers are happy today.. cuz they wont lose any business.
- boflaade, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1Your weird!
- rolf, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
But the Prius isn't any better than a decent diesel small size in MPG (a diesel is typically around 20-50% more efficient than the gas model). Plus the diesel has the benefit of long engine life (not junking a car is good for the environment) and doesn't have those nasty batteries. You can thank your EPA for restricting foreign diesel imports of small cars -- they maintained that diesel cars had to be the same sulfur emissions as gas (which diesels were higher in) but also missed the fact that diesels emitted less of almost everything else as the other benefits (mpg, engine life).
But diesels will soon be back in, if Honda and other companies get the super clean diesels through. - terencec, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1the back lighting assembly reminds me of the 1st gen Toyota Highlander
- dimebags, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1yawn
- makkaveli19, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1i think the problem spouted up after the separation of diamler and Benz in 2000~ but they've brought back their reliability since then(2005+) my family owns 3 new benzes and 2 older ones from before the merger of Chrysler and the only one with the problems seems to be the 2003 SL
- bindermichi, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1...and I though the new GL was ugly... this this maybe the ugliest Benz ever
- OisinT, on 01/13/2008, -1/+2I'm just sick of SUVs!
- boflaade, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1I like the practicality of a wagon. This has the chiseled look of the Cadillac and leads to more practical use inside. It does look heavy and probably is. Mercedes has a hit.
- AROZ, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1It has also been deemed a 20's jazz car.
