Both fighting styles are considered martial arts and take an extraordinary amount of training to become fluent in. From what I understand, Samurai fighting style is optimized for slashing, and Knight fighting style is optimized for stabbing. The Samurai killed with maximum effectiveness in their first slash when they unsheathed their sword. If the Samurai landed his first strike, the Knight would be dead instantly. However, if the Knight was able to dodge, the Samurai would be dead. At least, that's what the experts said.
