- Trifold, on 12/03/2008, -10/+83Oh it's about a guy. Neeeever mind.
- Rach1251, on 12/03/2008, -1/+55As an art student, I have a few horror stories.
There's one male model we have nicknamed "Drippy."
I'll leave the rest to your imagination... - inactive, on 12/03/2008, -1/+53Did they teach you in art school to refrain from painting disturbing mental images?
- post3r3r, on 12/03/2008, -1/+52This Thread Is Worthless Without Pics
- chemistryslave, on 12/03/2008, -2/+41I know a girl who used to do nude modeling, and is now working on her Ph.D. in chemistry. Therefore, nude modeling is a slippery slope to either porn or chemistry research.
- jcgreenx, on 12/03/2008, -0/+39I can't look at this without thinking about Will Ferrell playing a nude model on SNL.
"Here's The Thinker...and here's The Stinker." - poidh, on 12/03/2008, -1/+39I couldn't do this. Everyone would be sniggering at my tiny *****.
"But it's cold in here".
"The thermostat says it's 25C".
"Well I've not been well lately."
Etc. - godphase3, on 12/03/2008, -6/+42Sounds like someone's a little insecure.
- Aethirig, on 12/03/2008, -0/+32came for the article, stayed for the inappropriate jokes.
- Marcus677, on 12/03/2008, -2/+31maybe i should apply, ive been arrested for public nudity countless times.
- dtpollitt, on 12/03/2008, -3/+32pix or it didnt happen
- quomen, on 12/03/2008, -1/+28No Rach, continue..
- SirFragsMore, on 12/03/2008, -0/+27I would be afraid I'd pop a boner...
- Shakermaker, on 12/03/2008, -0/+24You wanna see nekkid pics of Rex Troxwell?
- benderillo, on 12/03/2008, -1/+23Brown chicken, brown cow.
- poidh, on 12/03/2008, -2/+22Iam I supposed to use Kelvin?
Ok then: "The thermostat says it's 298.15K". - hendrixlives64, on 12/03/2008, -1/+20every model i've drawn/painted from has been perfect, regardless of gender, body type, etc. there's something interesting to derive from every figure, be it sterile beauty, whimsical peculiarity, or tragic decay. i don't ignore my feelings when i'm painting a model.. if she's sexy then i make her sexier in the picture. if he looks like a broken bum off the street, then i make him a martyr. students who discriminate against their subjects are just projecting insecurity and a childish (primarily American) uncomfortableness with the body.
- palebird, on 12/03/2008, -2/+21As a former art student I have experience with this sort of thing and honestly, its a very professional environment... there is nothing stimulating about it...I was tricked!
- markosfunk, on 12/03/2008, -0/+17$25 an hr for just standing there, sign me up!
- andythebean, on 12/03/2008, -0/+16One of the first times I posed, I did my first few 20min poses before the break. During the break I wandered around checking out the sketches. I came across one in which the vast majority of my body was loose lines and shapes, all but my penis. It had been drawn in exquisite detail and care, obviously having taken the majority of the session. I still model for art classes but I've never been able to quite look that guy in the eye...
- vorbalhorde, on 12/03/2008, -4/+20My nude models pose for ASCII art.

- godphase3, on 12/03/2008, -2/+17I've done this a few times for photo shoots and art classes. If you're comfortable with your body, it's not a big deal, at all.
- merreborn, on 12/02/2008, -10/+25TTIWWP
- IAmTheGuy, on 12/03/2008, -0/+14Rex Troxell's dream/nightmare is how the dozens of us nevernudes live our entire lives. It's a very scary experience.
- jazino, on 12/03/2008, -0/+14He has been a nude model for 30 years. I thought you only had to do that when you were a kid.
- sandburn, on 12/03/2008, -0/+14This Thread Is Worthless Without post3r3r
thanks... - roessnakhan, on 12/03/2008, -1/+14Am I... am I supposed to sculpt the penis?
- senae, on 12/03/2008, -7/+19way to be a closet homosexual, guy. Better go watch some porn and get drunk to take your mind off of penis.
- jamesdew, on 12/03/2008, -2/+14I bet none of them had sex with you
- rdldr1, on 12/03/2008, -1/+13In all of my art classes which featured nude models -- none of them were hot. Very disappointing. Had one "butterface." The guy model we had was hitting on the girls in my class. He managed to pick up the ugliest one, who happened to be married.
- lydiaK, on 12/03/2008, -0/+12I took figure drawing this semester and saw 2 models faint. They lock their knees and pass out.
- Kinsbane, on 12/03/2008, -0/+12Aw, it's cute how you describe what art *has* to be.
- oboshoe, on 12/03/2008, -2/+13I've bet you've been waiting for a long time to be able to make that comment
- oboshoe, on 12/03/2008, -2/+13I don't blame you.
Sitting around drawing some dudes dong sounds like a really lousy way to spend the day. - oboshoe, on 12/03/2008, -1/+11dugg for slippery slope
- godphase3, on 12/03/2008, -1/+11@sirfragsmore
I was at first, but you basically forget you're naked once you get used to it. - MattB123, on 12/03/2008, -0/+9Yep. Me too. It's a different mindset than looking at a stripper or your boyfriend or girlfriend.
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+9you looked up his butt
- RevinKoze, on 12/03/2008, -0/+9Makes me think about getting a new summer job.
- bdfariello, on 12/03/2008, -0/+9That's when I was start drawing them, because people are in their most natural state when they're unconscious.
- feckineejit, on 12/03/2008, -2/+11I'd be more afraid of having to constantly explain the difference between a 'grow-er' and a 'show-er'.
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+9"Here's where we make the milk, and here's where we make the lemonade"
- ZeroCubed, on 12/03/2008, -2/+11Okay, first of all, if you're an artist, and have an aversion to nudity, then there's something wrong with you. You don't go to art class, hoping for a pretty model you can later hit on, so there's no reason to care the least bit about how attractive or ugly they are. As for drawing males - it's the same damn thing. The point of drawing nudes is to focus on the actual art quality of the subject - shading, contours, highlights, ect - rather than the actual subject itself. It's also for better understanding of how the human body is structured, allowing you to draw more quickly and accurately in the future. You can't rely simply on skeletons (though that's how my professor started us) and having a clothed model is useless since it hides body and bone structure. Clothed models are appropriate for gesture drawing classes - in which the model has to constantly move as the students attempt to capture a single movement in time, such as a leap in mid air. In those classes the focus is on movement rather than art quality.
- kingmanic, on 12/03/2008, -1/+9the article is talking about modeling for art classes. So if your boss has an issue with a sketch of you naked, perhaps that isn't a good work environment.
- poidh, on 12/03/2008, -1/+9Sounds like you have a problem there.
- metaliq, on 12/03/2008, -1/+9I bet stuff dripped from his penis.
