- blueoceanpalm, on 10/25/2008, -0/+1The Army does need more native speakers of various in-demand languages, and I'm glad they have a separate MOS for those speakers. However, I do think that the money they spend on training Soldiers to learn foreign languages is sometimes wasted. Rosetta Stone is great for getting a very basic knowledge of a language for a wide array of different types of Soldiers, but what about the Soldiers that have received formal training from the Army in a foreign language only to never have the opportunity to use their "valuable" skill in an operational environment? The Army may not be able to afford to train every Soldier as a certified linguist, but they should at least work harder to make sure they don't waste more money on training Soldiers for jobs they're never going to do.
