0 Result - handsoffme, on 10/10/2007, -9/+41What's with the sudden flood of crap stories popping on and off the front page?
- Anarkast, on 10/10/2007, -8/+34apples download page + search word "virus" = :-) windows ...
- cmilki, on 10/10/2007, -5/+29Searching for virus turns up a listing for 'Windows' which is then cited as one of the reasons for buying a Mac, implying that Windows is virus-plagued and that a Mac is free from those very same viruses.

- jeffchuck, on 10/10/2007, -4/+24On a somewhat unrelated note, that is the slickest and most useful search box I've seen on a website.
- veggiemoore, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16I don't think that was intentional. The "Get a Mac" campaigns are always touting Macs' low infection-rate, so it probably just came up as a keyword on the page.
- faceninja, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18EA "Six Games For Mac"
Don't all rush at once! - frostw, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Sudden?
- zweben, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Uh... yeah, it is.
Timely security updates (which are released before the vulnerabilities are exploited) are one of the reasons the OS is virus free. - Murdats, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11ha waiting for instant results
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Actually, "Viruses" is the name of one of Apple's "Get A Mac" ads. So when you search for "virus" on Apple's site, it's no surprise that it comes up with a link to "View the latest TV ads to find out more."
http://movies.apple.com/movies/us/apple/getamac_ad ... - Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Malware you are aware you have: zero ;)
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The windows that pop up while you are browsing the web that offer to remove viruses are not part of OS X
- wierdaaron, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10I don't think this is a secret message or anything. The page that links to (apple.com/getamac) is the only page on apple.com that even uses the word "virus" (besides the discussion threads and help pages), so it should be the only thing to come up when you enter it.
- Bishop256, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7oh ***** son harry potter and need for speed carbon, just the games ive been lookin for to play on my computer...who needs bioshock!
/sarcasm - noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7You know I never see these angry fanboys you speak of but I do see an alarming number of people who can't go through a day without bashing a system they've never even used, many of them use windows. I've never figured it out so I just chalk it up to either envy or idiocy and leave it at that.
Pop quiz: What's the difference between a Mac Fanboy and an Anti-Mac Fanboy? Mac Fanboys have usually used Windows Anti-Mac Fanboys usually haven't used anything but Windows. - noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Has no one told him?
- xXMetalJesusXx, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Not true anymore...
UT3 and GoW are coming out soon..
And EA has ported a bunch of titles. - noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Cute... one problem though I see way more people bitching about Mac Fanboys than actual Mac Fanboys. Why is that?
- iFungus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE HAS AN ASSOCIATED VIRUS ZOMG
God, use your brain a little. - gyronic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6At least Apple fixes their ***** in a timely fashion. ***** M$ wont patch until they HAVE TO.
- BlackCow, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Just curious, have any of you guys actually gotten a Virus on windows before? Using only firefox and common sense I have never been infected *shrugs* Not to say that windows is as secure as Unix based operating systems, I just think people exaggerate window's security flaws.
- maximumsteve1, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8it's people like you that really bug me in class and at work...
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4There isn't a problem with it really.. but anyone that has ever used windows for any good amount of time has earned the right to make fun of it.
- 256byteram, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Provided you're on a desert island with no connection to the outside world, means of communication, or a generator.
- stigma15, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5He means games that won't also run on your cell phone
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Good for you. Now here's a question. What settings did you need to tweak and what software did you have to install to achieve that. If you said nothing you're either lying or lucky. I put a bare windows machine with a fresh install online and within 15 minutes it had picked up three virus'. I'm currently using a bare Mac and I've never had a virus. They are more secure ou of the box and there is no way around that fact.
- mesadude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3On a related note, if you've got a Mac with the trial version of Microsoft Office installed, try searching for "crap" with Spotlight ;)
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Common Sense won't solve a lot of problems unfortunately. You don't have to download and install malware to get it on your machine.
- houndawg87, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4So useless that Microsoft created useful "Gadgets" to make pc fanboys happy?
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3That's nice but it isn't really relevant here. Go outside and play while the grown-ups talk.
- SiNN4R, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The truth hurts.
- DannySpace, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I know I'm going to get raped for this, yet again... But, I think both platforms are GREAT, and I use them on a daily basis. What's so wrong with that? It's like having a car and a truck.
- Spuy767, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5What an intelligent counterpoint.
I suppose that the lack of games precludes you from doing "real work" on a machine. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6Um, no...
http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/9103/searchjt9. ... - richard2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You're further proof that degrees are worthless.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2touché
- drkmirror, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2All of you fan boys & anti-fan boys need to shut the hell up. Just once I'd like to see a computer related story not degrade into kindergarten.
and why it it every time macs are brought up do people go but macs have no games I could care less about games, if you do fine more power to you. - alekies, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Use CommonSense 2007 on Windows like I do and viruses won't ever be a problem.
- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Works in the Apple.com searchbar on any page. http://www.apple.com/ Type: Windows
Update: Apple has added more stuff today to the results of the word Windows (since it hit the digg homepage) more subtle now eh? - noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Someone missed the migration of windows users to Mac, the increased market share, and the larger retail presence.
- JoeVerrone, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4I'm not burying this but it sure isn't worthy of a digg either.
- JoshuaGross, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The title "Windows" has to be.
- nakile, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I know, Battlefield 2142 is such a awful game...
- melat0nin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It always amuses me that the Mac ad campaigns wax lyrical about doing 'fun stuff' on your computer, like, um, making photo slideshows (how exciting!). But then Macs are almost totally inept at gaming, where PCs rule the roost on that front.
Moral: buy a machine that lets you work, and lets you play. Buy a PC. - wierdaaron, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3What is it, like 90% of Windows machines are infected with a virus or malware? If 90% of box owners are idiots, it might be time to adjust the bar for calling people idiots.
Alternatively, start calling the software an idiot. - Drewboy64, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Way to be a douche bag....
- dylan51, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2amount of anti-spyware, mailware, virus detection software installed NONE cause I use a mac
- domr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"Also a funny anecdote. Recently Jobs did one of his "Mac's can't get viruses" speals at a speach, which everybody who knows anything about programming knows is complete crap. (I've got a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science). Anyways, so within 15 minutes of a certain hacker hearing that speach a worm started spreading on mac's as a little friendly response to Jobs."
