- Anrkist, on 10/12/2007, -8/+66I wonder how many dead bodies would fit in there?
- catullus, on 10/12/2007, -6/+55yeah heaven forbid a company should develop a VR solution and then ALSO provide a program to view it with. monopolist bastards
- airwalkery2k, on 10/12/2007, -3/+35Looking at those hypothetical airplane floor designs is just a fantasy trip. No matter how comfy they make them look and how badly people would prefer them, airlines will always opt for putting as many seats as possible in the greatest density throughout the entire plane.
- kmenzel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22"What I don't appreciate is that, in order to view their VR, I have to download their multimedia software suite and online music store software"
You are aware that you can download Quicktime, quite easily, from Apple, without iTunes? - ThreeDee912, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18It's a joke from a past Digg article on a person dying on a plane and being placed in the first-class section to be 'away from the general public' or something.
- squeevey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18Does the cylindrical warping bother anyone else?
- imtigger2, on 10/12/2007, -7/+22If some of you have seen better 1920x1600 ones please... leave a link! I'd love to check them out. I don't know why I'm so amazed by this one. I've truly just never been able to see a VR at such high quality before.
Oh... if you get a chance, check out the new Airbus A380 cabin at their cabin showroom here: http://www.airbus.com/cabin-showroom/preview/index.jsp?article=0 You GOTTA see the personal sleeper cabins. Wow. Can't imagine the cost of that flight. - lukas88, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13why oh why, do we build castles in the sky...
disclaimer: I apologize for any ecstasy flashbacks induced by my comment. - SpaceDreamer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I really needed to know how big your monitor is. Any other dimensions you wanted to tell us about?
- alecks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Another hi-res VR of the cabin:
http://www.airbus.com/en/aircraftfamilies/cabin_showroom/360_degrees_views/A320.htm - notjamt9000, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16There is no Quicktime for Linux.
- justinlarsen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Last time i went on a run i got 623 in there.
- caldroun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Looks like the Enterprise-D. I was half expecting Picard to be washing his face in the back there.
- TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I don't know why everyone always complains about this. You can get quicktime without iTunes
http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/3739/quicktimenoituneste3.png - TheBaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Maybe when mpeg or avi support VR, people will use them...
- Dotcommer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10@Tallon29
God DAMN you are such a noob. - Tallon29, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8madcaesar:
In Firefox: Tools > Options > Content Tab > Advanced (to the right of Enable Javascript) > Uncheck "Move or Resize Existing Windows" - daveyeti, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I'm a little bothered by the fact that some people have planes that are about a million times nicer than my house. Maybe that makes me a little bit of a Communist.
- inio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9http://people.ucsc.edu/~inio/
Definitely higher res. Some of mine at
http://homepage.mac.com/ianrickard/ucsc/
Are about the same res. - skotski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Anyone other dorks else notice the same nature film at three different places on each tv screen?
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7What is Airbus selling here? A commercial jet is just a metal tube, you can stick anything that goes in a metal tube inside it. We all know what ends up there: row after row of unpleasant, tiny cloth seats, with just enough room between them for a surly stewardess to throw peanuts at you.
- Marku$, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9airbus.com is generally an awesome site. Very well designed. Makes boeing.com look like a 4 year old made it.
- skotski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5...places in the film, that is. I think it was a Nat Geo special on the arctic fox. Must have been a few minutes between each frame that went into the composite.
Ok...I agree. Who cares. - ThreeDee912, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I still don't get why people are saying QuickTime is bad. You can download it bundled with iTunes, or by itself (without iTunes!) from the apple site. How the heck is it 'invasive bloatware'?
EDIT: Didn't see kmenzel's comment before mine. - mpower512, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Quicktime haters, use this: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm
- MotionAesthetic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Just what is the deal with airplane peanuts?
- JerodSlay, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I didn't know 24 inch monitors did 1920x1600. My Dell 24 only does 1920x1200
- cawpin, on 10/12/2007, -11/+14@airwalkery2k - Yes, they will.
I would advise everyone against flying on Airbus, especially the new 380. I worked on it for over a year, wiring harnesses specifically, and Airbus has no idea what they are doing. The next-to-last delay was blamed on "Problems with wiring between sections from North American contractors." This is exactly what I was working on and I can tell you it wasn't us that made the problems. It was Airbus changing work scope and practices every other day. I redid half of my work because of it. - speaker219, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh the horror.
- 24inchgamer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I think you might love this - http://www.panoramas.dk/archive.html
- 24inchgamer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5How about an entire website full of them? http://www.panoramas.dk/
Its a little confusing to navigate so go here http://www.panoramas.dk/archive.html and select from the drop downs, some are incredible!
My favorite is - http://www.panoramas.dk/fullscreen5/f51-koeln-dom.html
Some of the detail is insane!
enjoy!
Nick - TheYoshi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5People who hate quicktime should read this article: http://www.roughlydrafted.com/RD/RDM.Tech.Q1.07/5F0C866C-6DDF-4A9A-9515-531B0CA0C29C.html
I learned some interesting things, btw quicktime only sucks when you're on a windows box it's fantastic on Macs (as you might expect).
All of that said this is a pretty nice example of quicktime VR, I've never seen one this high quality. - Topher06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Where are the seat belts? For hundreds of millions, you think they would include seat belts!!! Maybe they just use 100's of airbags.
- MikeZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It looks so cool, i just have a 15" powerbook but i bet it looks super on a 24" and i want too get one, becuse it will just make video editing with final cut so much nicer and it be cool if i could get a hd cam
- Silthrim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3EDIT: Double post.... Safari lagged XD
- Sethwm2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yeah this is the largest most high quality one I have personally seen. Nice jet. Beautiful Image quality. I wonder when the point will be when the VR is so good that when you move around it does not have to make the images look stretched like that..
- hilomike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Show photographer or it never happened.

Did you even attempt to read anything about what you were looking at before you posted? - insovietrussia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It looks likes my Grandmothers living room.
- TheSurfer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just for your information.
The Airbus panoramas are made by Gilles Vidal who BTW also made the current Airbus protest pano at my NewsPanorama page
http://www.panoramas.dk/newspanos/index.html
Gilles is one of our most talented VR Photographers.
As for large high resolution panoramas much has happened during the last years.
My introduction of fullscreen panoramas back in 2002 has become the standard today.
If you want to see really high quality QTVR you should visit Arounder http://www.arounder.com/
You have to choose "high" at the top when you have loaded the first one. They will then load as high quality during the rest of your session.
Just for those who come with stupid "Quicktime hate" comments I have to tell you that there is no solution which can match Quicktime for high resolution panoramas. Flash is on the way and even works in fullscreen but there are distortions. Java has size limitations and other solutions are based on Video memory. Quicktime just needs RAM. - bluenash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1one biiiilllllion dollars. wrap it up and take it home.
- Darrooon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What happens to all those Bordeaux glasses when this plane hits "drink cart propelling" turbulence?
- sonofcali, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's classy!
- plg6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Must be recessed in the chairs is my guess, though that's not too obviously apparent from looking at the image.
- soapandfoam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"GET OFF MY PLANE!"
- mrkamil, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4ooh. zooming out all the way reminds me of playing AVP back in the day.
- iStunT, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i can understand it if you can only go left and right, but the fact that you can go left, right, up and down, anywhere is really awesome...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Also in FF 2.0.3, the QTVR mouse cursor, that little circle with a dot in it, carried over to my other tabs. Even before I focused on the tab with the VR in it.
- zdiggler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I don't really give a ***** about being fancy, just give me enough arm/leg room and get me there ontime.
