- 1090 diggs
- digg it
- anonymoustroll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Uh... just so everyone knows, it's a color invert; it down't turn the screen upside down.
- infermon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2http://digg.com/apple/Something_cool_to_try
- fudgebrown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0old news - but new news for any new PC to Mac switcher. (or any Windows user zombie)
- RubyRose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah i guess it is kinda old but you'd be suprised how many people don't know about it....and its still cool
- grayapple, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I done it in PC World... yeah... I'm cool like that
- darkfiremp3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0my whole school does this to make teachers mad
- CorruptZero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Very cool. I switched to a Mac recently so I didn't know about this. Thanks.
- Nefarious_Denny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you just look in the keyboard commands for osx there is a whole bunch of neato things you can do.
- Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I did that when I was still in High School, the Lab guy freaked out, thought I broke it and threatened to suspend me. I fixed it and he said "...oh"
aheheehehe - mmaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0traitor
- conigs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This made it to the front page? I'm not normally one of these people, but this is being reported as lame merely because
a.) Inverting the screen colors is old/not extremely usefull -and-
b.) The article linked to is actually about conserving battery life, not just inverting the screen. - hyperpasta, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Wow.
This is officially the STUPIDEST THING EVER POSTED ON DIGG. I'm a Machead, but this deluge of Apple news has gone WAYYYYYY to far. It's a KEYSTROKE! Next someone will post Command-Space opens the Spotlight menu!!! - mehtajr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1So items in the system preferences are now front page material? How lame.
- JTMON, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1"This is officially the STUPIDEST THING EVER POSTED ON DIGG. I'm a Machead, but this deluge of Apple news has gone WAYYYYYY to far. It's a KEYSTROKE! Next someone will post Command-Space opens the Spotlight menu!!!"
HAHAHAHAHA, that's right, leave it to a mac user...ahem - sirsleepsalot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The people at the Apple Store know that key command, and just about any other ones in OS X. There is a reason why they are working there.
- etandrib, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is found in the "Universal Access" section of System Preferences… can't believe it made the front page. "Ok, this is lame"
- Matrixsjd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2pretty stupid, I've owned many macs and have known about this feature for a long time, as well as the ( option command + ) keys magnify the screen lol Old
- jediboytj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0theres no need for the apple employees to panic... once the screen saver goes on, it closes all open programs and resets the computer.
- Polly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No further proof is needed in the matter of: Is Digg far too overpopulated with Apple Fanboys?
- l3ill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yo you cant take a screen shot of the inverted colors. too bad
- RadicalBender, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just FYI, On 10.2, it appears to turn everything black and white and then inverts the color. In otherwords, it's inverted, but also grayscaled. This is different from the 10.4 (and probably 10.3?) behavior where all colors are inverted (red -> green, orange -> blue, yellow -> purple).
- ttntyler, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1um why is this on digg?
- tont0r, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2are you posting ***** just to post *****? seriously... id rather more quality articles than this. quick everyone, watch what happens when you hit alt f4
- Hortnon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"The people at the Apple Store know that key command, and just about any other ones in OS X. There is a reason why they are working there."
What about the people at CompUSA? The same people that couldn't explain to me the Antec P180 case they carried, I mean. - MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Damn you tont0r! I lost all my tabs! Just kidding, but that would make a great digg submission.
- dylanA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0apple store here i come!!
- cvarrick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1A) Even for this site this is inane.
B) Mac keyboards don't have "alt" keys – you mean "control, OPTION, apple, 8"
The "alt" key on a windows keyboard usually maps to the "apple" key on a mac keyboard - JBOT6000, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This is the single most stupidest post I've ever come accross on any website.
- Kryptonitfusion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks cool on my ibook :) thx
- ewingsquadron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Welcome to 2001.
- joeyjojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0While silly articles like this are annoying the comments are worse.
Of course, I'm just adding to the chain, I suppose... - chmod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"B) Mac keyboards don't have "alt" keys – you mean "control, OPTION, apple, 8"rnThe "alt" key on a windows keyboard usually maps to the "apple" key on a mac keyboardrnposted by cvarrick "rnMay have been true in the past, but I am currently using an apple wireless keyboard, and the option key is also labled "alt" (same on the keyboard on my powerbook now that I look at it).
- Jessimo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i really don't see the point, but i have one question, is there a way to keep it from turning black and white and make it so it's reverse colors?
- zenlunatic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Tried to take a screenshot but it just reverts back to original color.
- Bren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cvarrick - My keyboard says ALT right on the option key dude. Same thing.
The windows key is the closest equivalent to the apple/command key - balazs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"B) Mac keyboards don't have "alt" keys – you mean "control, OPTION, apple, 8"
The "alt" key on a windows keyboard usually maps to the "apple" key on a mac keyboard"
That is completely wrong. Do you have a mac? The alt key is the option key (FYI it also has alt written on it!!!) The Windows Logo key maps to the Apple (command) key. Get your facts straight)
This is really cool, I don't care whether this is a dupe, because I haven't heard of this. Dugg.

My blog: http://theminiblog.co.uk/ - Wolfman~K, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This rocks, been using macs for 2 years now and didn't know this.
- mouthster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Great.. what's next? A digg on holding the shift key while using Expose ?
Did you digg this article? Yes? Kill yourself. You're an idiot. - katanna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0never knew that... cool, thanks!
Matthew - TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I did it at school and had no idea wtf I did. :(
- crunchyk9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When this just 'happened' to my father's powerbook I was very confused. I couldn't find the setting in the display section, so I told him to call my buddy in apple support. Turns out it 'happened' just after the cat crossed the keyboard. What's better is my buddy says he gets the call all the time and it's usually feline induced.
- riancurtis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2you guys are such assholes in the comments section. if you did not like a post so much, then why would you even bother reading it or digging it? By the way - i am new with MAC and YES we are fanboys. aren't you jealous?

Bandwagon Radio Podcast - codethis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anybody have a picture?
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0why is an old keyboard shortcut on the front page? maybe i should post how to do the same thing from the system prefs and it'll get promoted too......
- SirBriggs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ooooh! Pretty colors!
- Spaztic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Where is the "8 yeah" key?
- bakatrinh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This is the kind of useless stuff that apple shove into it's OS wasting ram and making it feel all sluggish
- mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You forget command-alt-8 to change colors to gray scale and command-alt-ctrl-> repeatedly to raise contrast.
- ScottBookG4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is retarded. Yes it's a cool feature, especially if you're disabled and it helps you see, but is it worth documenting every feature of an OS on Digg?
To be spotted on Digg.com front page tomorrow: "HEY! Did you know you can press Apple-Q to quit your applications in OS X?! OMFG!!!" - Ryokurin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0considering that inverting the screen dosn't dim the lcd light how does it actually save power?
