- Frankie4Fingers, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10This is like the 5th story on the iTunes and Apple announcement. Come on at least wait until something breaks on the story...
I bet then we will have like 10 people trying to post it at the same time. - thespace, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2ya no *****
- neoknight, on 10/12/2007, -15/+6i can just see all mac zealots refreshing every site/blog made for mac like crazy.

All the rumors will be over for today that it. More will start tomorrow because that's how apple rumors work. - aniruddha23, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14This is getting seriously out of hand.
Next time we will probably see these stories on the front page before a keynote

- thatsmyaibo, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2OK! i have a friend that got an inside. I can't say 100%, but it is pretty reliable. New ipod that has features of a phone, PDA, and a better movie viewer. Almost like all the rumored items rolled into 1. Don't digg me down until the keynote because i am pretty sure about this.
- putnam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's kind of sad that the first post was "What time is the announcement?" and every single one of the replies are useless morons that don't respond and just wanted to post at the top of the page. (Edit: since I posted this, one guy responded, but didn't specifically answer his question.)
It's at 10AM Pacific (an hour from now). I can't find a live stream from Apple for it, though, which is kind of disappointing :( - Aggaman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Dang... iTunes is down... I wanted to download the new Humperdinck album.
Who cares about movies.... - MrUnderbridge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"It's kind of sad that the first post was "What time is the announcement?" and every single one of the replies are useless morons that don't respond and just wanted to post at the top of the page."
Maybe because no one wanted to be his personal Google? Seriously, learn to use a search engine. - putnam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's fair, but it's still getting completely out of hand with all the retards wanting to be at the top of the page.

- lmbranco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Was now replaced with a pure text message. Everybody is going crazy and jamming the page.

- shark615, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1No not really.
- krinn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Only Showtime? I was hoping we'd get HBO and Cinemax...

- hornfinger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Just text! Thats shocking! They could at least put an animated Apple there or something
- TheOAF, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This morning they didn't have any new releases up so I had a feeling something was going on.
- brianmcuasito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1just checked.. i was able to get in.. but i was blocked out on the regular store part.. woo hoo.. must mean upgrades or new stuff haha ;p
- asbragg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0At least they told us instead of the just that error message that kept poping up
- tarokun182, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I wonder when we'll be able to get back in there.
- kimos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yeah, i'm getting a 404 when I hit the store from apple.com:
http://phobos.apple.com/showtime/showtime.html - kernelhappy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I don't use itunes often, but is this new?
http://www.apple.com/itunes/overview/
Watch iTunes do for video what it did for music. Now that the iTunes Music Store offers more than 3,000 music videos and select TV shows along with 3 million songs (and counting), instant gratification looks better than ever. To help you share your newfound joy, iTunes adds customer reviews, personalized recommendations and new gift options.- funtownarcade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah you can download music videos and tv shows for a while now.
- DrummerSi, on 10/12/2007, -17/+3Who gives a *****!?!?!?!?!?!?!
- Kuth678, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Clearly not you... or maybe you do care... why would you have posted other wise?
Lets play a game... pick something you're excited about, and I'll go post "Who gives a f***" on a web site that you've posted on.
Go away troll. - chickenpants, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1i'm with you.. this is
a) hardly news
b) not a revolutionary idea, and
c) going to be worthless unless the downloads are dvd quality.
settle down kids.. - flyinbuddha, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1downloads are HDTV as of Q1 2007
- Kuth678, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Clearly not you... or maybe you do care... why would you have posted other wise?
- markcrules, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6All this hype and you can bet us UK iTunes users will be treated like second class citizens, getting movies so old they are on VHS or having to wait a month or two for our movies.
- chiatar, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Damn it! I've been waiting for a month to buy the new Black Keys CD... and what do i get the day it comes out... retarded ass movies on demand... I'm not gonna use the service. let the movie industry die
- bdeisgn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Ah yes, because you don't want it, no should have it right?
- chiatar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1why close the entire store? surley they can debut this crap with out stopping normal customers from getting music. Steves just trying to make a scene.. I'm not impressed
- mobilehavoc, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4This is just so much fun to watch...go Apple rabid fanboys go!
- kevnaca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes it's gonna be a crazy Apple digging day isnt it. Sit back and watch all that is Apple go to the front page. expecially with Mr. rose digging too.
- brendanc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is fun to watch, but I'm also excited... but for a slightly different reason.
Firstly, I'm not an "apple fanboy". I have never owned a mac, or an ipod... or anything else by apple. I am however, interested in the possibility of a full touch screen music/video player.
I know iPods might not be the highest quality devices (but they are certainly the best looking), but I'm sick of other companies coming out with lame media players that are using several year old technology. Come on! We've had touch screens for YEARS.
But seriously, I don't care about the itunes store change. I'm just interested in the new iPod if there is one.
- kevnaca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Apple Store is down too. c. 1hr to go.
- jl24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm guessing the iTunes Music Store will be renamed to just the iTunes Store as well.
- zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Redmond must be watching this with keen interest.
- bi0metric, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1lol u dumb ass apple humpers LOL
- neuropsychguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1At least the online Apple store is down too; that means that Apple will not announce just movies but also something you can buy (this was obviously rumored but now we have confirmation of something).
- halleyscomet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn it, even the Podcast directory is just a black screen.
- Jadix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2nice, i invested in apple last week. they're already up 1% today, and haven't announced anything yet.
- P155, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1Introducing the ***** starting from only $1900
If it has an Apple logo on, the rabid fanboys will buy it- P155, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Aww did I offend a camp MACfag?
- LordHelmet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Man, what a loser.
- heidivodka, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I think it may be bigger than just putting videos. I think if not now but at some point they will try and buy out Disney. Long shot though
- iSocrates, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0A lot of people, obviously!
Even you, otherwise you wouldn't be checking this DIGG story :) - alantocheri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Apple's store is now down too: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore/
- Dakk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If the regular Apple Store is down (not just the iTunes Store), I'm guessing that this means some kinda hardware doohickey is going to be released.
- cahopper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2iTunes 7 seems to be on the way. When you go to http://content.info.apple.com/iTunes7/ you get a permission denied error, not a page not found.
- aallan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So both the Apple Store and the iTunes Store are down, that means we're looking at a hardware and media announcement. The leaked agenda is starting to look almost believable...
http://www.babilim.co.uk/blog/2006/09/last-minute-rumours.html - everfresh59, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6You guys make it sound as if Angelina Jolie is about to be revealed naked on the cover of Playboy Magazine. Calm down, big friggin' deal, they have ana nnouncement to make, keep your damn panties on ladies....
- normalizer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1link please....
- ngageguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Latest update..Steve J is getting out his free starbucks coffee coupon he found on Digg and headed to get his free drink, lawyers right behind him. /end sarcasm
- monzsca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Their "hardware" store shows a similar message, says "We'll be back soon."
- Animosity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe they'll fix their 'not connected' problems they've yet to acknowledge.
- pipp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm sure this comment will get buried.....but the incredible abundance of non-news apple links of digg recently has been crazy. It seems like the home page is filled with "Apple might..." and "Will Apply announce...".
I do give Apple props for creating marketing buzz by taking down their stores in the middle of the day. It definatly spikes interest and curiosity. - bermyguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did someone say chicken
- betobeto, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Nope, but why did it cross the road?
- benblack123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1also, the ipod web site only has the ipod nano listed as of 12:50 est
http://www.apple.com/itunes/ - Highstand, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I hope this announcement is more than just a leather Ipod case
- bgbs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0look how positevily this GREAT NEWS negative is put.
Mac fanatics are trying to make this negative news sound flattering positive. Concentration is up "Its showtime"
The fricking site is down, its not good news moron. - diggdon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have been unable to find a video stream of the event. Even the Apple stream wasn't working.
- diggdon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The new Mac iTV (to be released in 2007) is a major disappointment to me because it appears to have no ability to encode TV into compressed format. This means Apple wants complete control over what TV you possess. They don't want you to have any TV unless you've paid for it... from them. You can't get your programs from other sources, including your own video camera. Sigh. I guess I'll keep my PC with its video encoding capability after all. At least Microsoft OS fully supports me getting my videos from anywhere I want them.
- enjayenel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"iTV" simply allows you to stream any video/music/photos to your TV/Stereo. You are though limited to what is in your iTunes library which, obviously, is not just DRM media, but anything that you put in iTunes.
But it's not a PVR (tivo), your right. The ability to encode is the same as it is today... from the computer. But again, this just let's connect your computer to the TV wirelessly which is something I wouldn't mind doing. - diggdon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1True, I'm not saying the iTV is bad at what it does, I'm simply lamenting that Apple wants complete control over your video watching habits (especially purchase/acquisition habits) which puts them against my desires and wishes. Even though they are only a media retailer rather than media producer, they are completely in bed with the media producers and we're gonna have to look elsewhere, probably the manufacturers from Taiwan, if we're going to find the hardware that does what we actually want. What we want is the ability to record what we see and be complete owners of that material with no DRM software infecting what we do with what we have recorded. Frankly, I don't trust anyone, including MS or Apple, to manage my media for me. If something was broadcast in front of my eyes, especially if it was a commercial broadcast or something I paid money for (eg, pay per view or a ripped DVD) then I deserve to have no DRM software infecting my recording. I had been hoping Apple would have sold a device that lets me record what I watch with no DRM, but alas, it will never be.
