iTransmogrify, embedded Flash converter for iPhone

joemaller.com — iTransmogrify! is a bookmarklet for iPhone which transforms embedded Flash content into direct links to natively supported formats. That means YouTube videos and MP3s can now be played from the iPhone’s Safari web browser with just a few clicks. Seeing it work is the best explanation.

  • JoeMaller, on 01/13/2008, -0/+45It works for YouTube videos that have Mp4 equivalent content. Also for MP3s which are embedded in Flash players. I'm working on other common formats too.
  • Scaryclouds, on 01/13/2008, -2/+33False, this doesn't convert flash. What this program is doing is reading the source file of the flash content, grabbing the preview picture and then changing the link to open the youtube player.

    I'm not saying this program isn't quite nifty, but it is false to say it "converts" flash.

  • BryanTheCrow, on 01/13/2008, -0/+3Sure there is. iTunes on Windows can sync bookmarks with either Internet Explorer or Safari. Just add the bookmark in one of those browsers and sync your iPhone.
  • peestandingup, on 01/13/2008, -0/+2Bingo! They purposely withhold minor features (copy/paste, MMS, etc) for this very reason. Sorry, but its the truth. They're not stupid & knew people would crack the phone. The only defense is to withhold these features & temp users with updates.
