- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The story from yesterday links to this, but it sure doesn't deserve diggs. Nowhere in the title or description does it even mention the "iPod seen from space" angle.
- haochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2iPod : 69-399, iPod on Google Map: Priceless.
- clarkkent247, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2See for compete story here: http://boakes.org/apple-ipod-space-advert . Beside Google Maps you can get a Google Earth link (.kmz) from there
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2very cool
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually, I'd say that was a coincidence.
Do a coordinate search on Terraserver for Lat = -30.516354; Long = 121.336956 (use the Decimal Degrees - exact) and you'll get three results. The dates are 1/1/1999, 1/1/1990, and 6/1/2001, respectively. - SixSider, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm callling shenannigans. I would just thing if Jobs were tpo do this, the screen proportion would be more accurrate.
- ear1grey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Here's a pic of London supposedly by the same system on the same day - in fact - you can skip to most locations on Earth and it'll say the same thing. It's more likely that the date is being used as a default by the presentation layer in cases where the date is unknown.

- KyleMistry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hilarious.
- jarlen84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1But the Terraserver shows London as 1/1 1999 but it has the Millenium Dome (started building at July 1999) clearly on the image, so I'd say that Terraservers dates are busted. The iPod-mine is newly built (past 2 years).
And it's not April yet.. - blogjunkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Gosh is this true? His Steve-ness is so sick.
- cstoller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1its all a conspiracy.
- rsrikanth05, on 05/28/2008, -0/+0It looks more like the 2GB edition of the Transcend T.sonic.
It also faintly resembles the Zune, but does not resemble the iPod in any way. - johnsee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Am I the only one who thinks it looks as much like an iPod as Kevin Rose does Michael Jackson?
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Here's a satellite image of the exact location, taken in January 1999:

I'm assuming that since this was before the iPod even existed, that this is an April Fool's joke. - gadgetsguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1That ROCKS! LOL
- beenthere, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0it is nothing more than a minesite tailing dam Nth of kalgoorlie. The picture is around 10 years old - well before i pods
- ear1grey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The original digg from yesterday: http://digg.com/apple/Apple_iPod:_One_Giant_Leap_for_Advertising
