- inactive, on 06/14/2008, -4/+217Why do we need an article about iPhone articles?
- MikeonTV, on 06/14/2008, -1/+92So does this count as a story about the iPhone?
- Catbert107, on 06/14/2008, -3/+39Totally original, I swear!
- Rauby, on 06/14/2008, -5/+41And funny now, a NEW iPhone article, about other iPhone articles. ;)
- johndajap56, on 06/14/2008, -2/+31It's like overplaying a song on the radio, before the album even comes out you're already sick of it
- inactive, on 06/14/2008, -14/+41Very well written article. I agree there should be balance of information sharing and also giving too much attention. iphone being super cool and also known as the Jesus phone shouldn't have so much attention that it dominates the entire digg front page and also since most of iphone info was already out.
- n00j, on 06/14/2008, -1/+22To test if this is a divide by zero situation!
- MBHockey, on 06/15/2008, -3/+22"24 “iPhone Killer” stories were submitted. One hit the front page, and it was reported as inaccurate."
hahahahahaaha - meshman, on 06/14/2008, -3/+17"from the week in Digg that was dominated by the enigmatic iPhone."
That's every week. - imcquill, on 06/14/2008, -1/+10You're definitely correct. Those who say the iPhone is more expensive than it used to be probably mean "more expensive for them". In the UK, it is cheaper, and in most other countries it was not available at all.
Regardless, even in the US, the combined phone + usage costs over two years is still significantly cheaper than when the iPhone first came out, as the price started at $600. Plus the speeds are much higher now. - DaviDaviDaviD, on 06/14/2008, -5/+13About the whole price problem, I still don't get it. If you live in the UK then the price has actually dropped for the lower models and the iPhone is free on the higher tariffs.
- benologist, on 06/14/2008, -1/+7It's really a story about how the dupe filter's about ready for an overhaul. Not all of the users can be trusted to "swear this is original".
Part of the problem I guess is if something's submitted and doesn't go to the front page there's really no point voting for it x days later. If there was a way for older stories to re-enter the upcoming queue and have another chance at hitting the front page without being resubmitted that might help a lot.
The other and probably larger part of the problem is too many people have ulterior motives when they're submitting stories, whether it's their own site or a desire to be one of the top users or whatever. There isn't really a solution for that that I can see other than burying dupes and trash. - shauncorleone, on 06/15/2008, -0/+5Solid proof of Digg users' self-absorption
- rockinrimmer, on 06/15/2008, -0/+5Yeah i agree, finally we Brits get a good deal instead of over inflated prices :)
- Blandyman, on 06/15/2008, -1/+6He's being sarcastic, you worthless sack of dicks.
God, I hate stupid people. - Charun, on 06/15/2008, -1/+6It's not as though iPhone stories flood the front page on a regular basis. This is a big announcement in the mobile phone industry. For example if RIM only had one Blackberry model then it's unveiling would warrant some attention.
- JettaMan, on 06/15/2008, -1/+5I agree, enough with this iPhone spam. Digg is like one big iPhone commercial and it is irritating.
- inobla, on 06/15/2008, -0/+4Keep fantasizing, loser.
- Livewired, on 06/15/2008, -1/+5Not a very well written article. Nothing original + numerous grammatical errors = sensationalist caca.
- MtheoryX, on 06/15/2008, -0/+4Yes, but not too long ago Digg was like an Obama spam machine.
And it was a Ron Paul spam machine before that, and a CoS spam machine before that, and a PS3 spam machine before that, etc.
Perhaps even Diggers, as independent and free thinking as they (we) think they (we) are, might just be the same people that watch commercials and reality tv and eat up all this marketing crap.
Perhaps the more things change, the more they stay the same. - inobla, on 06/15/2008, -0/+3That's not jcm. I think the guy who runs that trollhunter site used his own picture.
- chaoswings, on 06/14/2008, -3/+6Yeah but see Apple made it so what did you expect from digg? Granted the iphone is an awesome phone but I think it had more to do with it being a product by Apple, then the phone itself.
- JoaoPe, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2Dude, you've got issues
- BrendanSheehan, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2To end the articles.
- Guol, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2Haha tell me about it..
An iPhone article on Digg talking about the large influx of iPhone articles already on Digg... - Archaic1, on 06/15/2008, -2/+4because if we didn't then we couldn't have an article about articles about iPhone articles.
- rickcarson, on 06/15/2008, -2/+4What I take away from the article is that only 1.7% of the articles submitted about the iPhone made the front page. But it isn't clear from the article whether the author thinks this is too many or too few. I can't tell if he is pro or anti the iPhone, so it is interesting reading the above comments where people interpret it through their own filters and biases.
I wonder whether there should be a similar article about the Killary*/Obama/McCain flood that is now (mercifully) slowing down.
Also, I wonder what is wrong with the digg submission rules. 2800 articles submitted in one week about the 3G iPhone... you'd think that it would knock some of them back for being duplicates. I can't go on, because the comment box is doing this weird bouncing up and down thing which is totally distracting.
*A typo, but I liked it so much I let it stay. Apologies to mein grammer undt spelink nazies. - awhileago, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Just goes to show that the iPhone is still the best…
- ataylor32, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1My favorite line from the article:
24 "iPhone Killer" stories were submitter - inactive, on 06/15/2008, -1/+2Everyone who buys a ***** apple product is a narcissist. They pick up their ipod or iphone (which they paid 2 or 3 times more than a competitors superior product), than they start to rub it against their genitalia.
Next on Steve Jobs invention list. "The Overprice Masturbation Toy for Narcissists: iWack"
Why do people digg this? This is basically a story about statistics on stories. You people need to really get over yourself. You're not cool because you own an ipod. - inactive, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1@iamnotatroller
Buried and reported - Kinnkster, on 06/14/2008, -3/+4The false headlines are annoying. Isn't "Open source phones coming from Google" more attractive then some ***** "iPhone killer" headline?
Ones real and really awesome one's obviously fake. - jisrael, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1has apple ever done that once in its history? i know the iphone was in development for quite a while before they released it, but have they ever missed an announced launch date?
- DeadHerring, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1This is why I hate the iPhone, I used to like keeping track of Apple rumours and the like but now it's just rediculous.
- Blandyman, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1I mumble and jumble and scrumble, whoops, I mean scramble my words.
And I don't make no sense because I'm the son of the bird... MAAAAAN.
I rap like a tard and I like to blow farts and I like to smoke grass and drink wine from a glass.
I'm done. Sorry. - TehJoe, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Usually I bury iPhone articles.
- DAC1138, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1I'm going to write an article about this article that is about Digg and the iPhone.
By this logic, how can I not be Dugg? - aimhelix, on 06/15/2008, -1/+2Copy and paste...
all those articles and still no copy & paste. - sreevatsa, on 06/15/2008, -1/+2finally someone who wrote about this...... i am a fan of iphone.. but when i saw the number of news articles on iphone i actually got frustated. Nice written article.....
- inactive, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1The Black berry is still better..........
- onesam, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Enigmatic? Hardly.
Well written article? It's 4 paragraphs reporting what's already been on digg, 1 paragraph of dot points about what's been on digg, and 4 quoted digg submissions. - Ex3poo, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Thats what Digg, is here to do.
- inactive, on 06/15/2008, -4/+4Thats true i'm seeing so many iPhone articles, I read one and can swear I just Reddit.
- waydee, on 06/15/2008, -3/+3buried as spam
- mca1990, on 06/15/2008, -1/+1But he said he would let let let let me lick the lollipop! Now I have to buy his album.
- willsani, on 06/15/2008, -2/+2I know I'll be finally dropping the $200 to buy one :) This is my first step toward becoming an Apple elitist. Next step, an ibook!
- neilbakker, on 06/15/2008, -1/+1I just dugg as story about other dugg stories - I think the world is about to cave in on itself.
