Sorry bored at work - jtcalhoun, on 10/11/2007, -8/+80Note to muggers/e-bay scalpers: ride the CalTrain more often.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -30/+97Do people really give a ***** if some random guy has an iPhone a few days, or weeks, before it's release? This is just as bad as news stories about Paris Hilton.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+73@SWiG
seems you may be correct, but how could you have possibly figured that out? - betterth, on 10/11/2007, -15/+74@fk3
Do you see a "Digg This" link anywhere on that Engadget page?
They know when they have original content and when they don't. That doesn't mean they can't bring content to the forefront by posting on their own page. That's entire ***** point of a blog -- to aggregate news around a certain subject, be it original content or indexed content. Jesus Christ, it's not like you had to post on a site that you can clearly tell came from Engadget. It's not cool to hate them, really, the digg crowd won't sing your praises for being a hater. - crackedplastic, on 10/11/2007, -18/+72Engadget: King of blogspam.
Actual picture grabbed from here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chasingfun/545103004/ - AriaStar, on 10/11/2007, -2/+47You KNOW you're a geek when spotting an iPhone is the highlight of your month.
- fkr3, on 10/11/2007, -32/+73Blog spam spotted in public?
Could it be yet another case of Engadget seeing some content somewhere, and then pretending they're writing news when they add nothing but advertisements to it?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/chasingfun/545103004/ - sockpuppets, on 10/11/2007, -11/+42Some Apple employees have them. My neighbor does, he's on the iphone team.
- danielrh9, on 10/11/2007, -3/+32I wonder if this mystery guy is a digger. Next time he checks the site, he's gonna freak out.
- Jeffrey903, on 10/11/2007, -4/+32Keep in mind that it is going to be a lot more difficult to resell an iPhone than reselling a PS3. Most people who were in line for a PS3 only wanted it to sell on eBay. If you want to sell an iPhone on eBay, you are going to have the buy the phone, pay the activation fee, signup for a contract, pay for a month of service, cancel the service by paying the termination fee, and then sell the phone on eBay. I don't see many people doing that.
- mal1964, on 10/11/2007, -4/+23A iphone leaves the train station at the top of the minute. If it averages 66
miles per hour for the first 10 miles it will pass milepost 10 exactly
at the moment that the minute hand of the clock is directly over the
hour hand. At what time does the iphone leave the station? - Mike.Dunn, on 10/11/2007, -14/+32Jesus... I need to stop clicking iPhone links.
-Lame. - mikev, on 10/11/2007, -4/+20It looks like Mike Matas, he is a UI designer for Apple.
http://www.mikematas.com - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18I hate it when I click on a picture expecting to get a higher res version, but what I get is the exact same photo over again.

It's not an iPod, the headphone jack is on the other side for an iPod so....BURN! - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14After reading half the replies here, it's safe to say that the majority of you people are morons.
- dogstylee, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16I don't understand the huge fuss over the thing. And why is the photographer in the baggage rack or ventilation duct or whatever he's in.
- Darcy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13"looks like a zune to me. "
HOW DARE YOU!
Half the Apple fanatics on the planet are sitting in front of their monitors masturbating over this photo, and you go and say something like this. It would damage them for life if it was a Zune. - fkr3, on 10/11/2007, -26/+37@ betterth, engadget is almost 100% blogspam at any time, on any day.

Every single "article" from their homepage is regurgitated from somewhere else. When any other blog just regurgitates content from other sites it's called spam, and when engadget does it it's still spam. - litolist, on 10/11/2007, -20/+31Yeah, no kidding. Whoop-dee-*****-doo.
- mrmacky, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14Adding to the iPhone hype.
I might get myself one of these if they are unlockable. Then again, apple knows hardware-locking like no one else ;) - canewediggit, on 10/11/2007, -8/+19dear engadget: http://digg.com/tech_news/Gizmodo_Digg_Spam_Sucks

Caltrain uses two level trains, and the upper level has no floor going down the middle.. The picture was taken from the top level. - amnesiac096, on 10/11/2007, -24/+31iPhone = overrated. nuff said
- DJCult, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Are you kidding? Did you look at the 'Jessica Alba Sex' one? It's like a tidal wave of goddamned grey. The only dugg up comments are ones that talk about how everything is dugg down, or random ass ones that say things like "WAFFLESWAFFLESWAFFLES"
- enivid, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10I see two things in this picture: one iPhone and one soon to be fired Apple employee.
- MacParrot, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Well, I guess you'd have something in common with him then.

I dont know if you have ever been on the CalTrain, but it has both upper and lower seating with the luggage compartments in the front. - Omicron, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6"Keep in mind that it is going to be a lot more difficult to resell an iPhone than reselling a PS3. You won't necessarily have to cancel a contract. You can still get a contract and just use a different phone... like the one you had prior to the iPhone. For current AT&T customers that are eligible for an upgrade, it's really not going to be that difficult. Buy iPhone, extend contract 2 yrs., and walk out the door with it. Even if you have to pay for a month of service for it, it's not going to be significantly different from your current cell bill, especially if you have a data plan. After it's sold, get rid of the unlimited data plan + w/e else you don't need. there are no fees for downgrading service.
But supposedly, there are going to be 200 iPhones at every Apple store and every AT&T store... I can't imagine if that's true that these will sell out on day one like consoles do. - Billions, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Yeah, I guess people do. This story had over 800 diggs when I clicked on it. Sorry buddy, people like the iPhone. Windows won't go away either, but somehow I hang in there. Somehow.

"t's got those smooth 30 gig iPod edges...low-fi ear-pod...probably is the real thing, but I'm waiting for the day the Nokia E90 comes 'round. It was just released in FINLAND of all places"
I probably just missed you sarcasm but you do know that Nokia is a Finnish company right? - Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I predict that the CalTrain will suddenly see a large influx of new passengers from now until June 29.
- tehWyman, on 08/19/2009, -0/+3There are better things out there I would rather be spotted with than the iPhone.
- MacParrot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3"Sooo what happened to the 3rd day?"

So, umm, why didn't he just ask the guy? He had all the opportunity in the world. At worst, the guy would have told him to piss off or mind his own business. And who knows, the guy might have let him play around with it for a while. - foolfromhell, on 10/11/2007, -5/+8Last time engadget reported on a "iPhone spotted in public", it was fake and apple lost $4.6 billion in stocks...
- turbomofo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Wow, this story puts my give-a-***** meter to -4.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I say why not? its jun 14th and its due when, june 29th or 30th, its close enough, looks like the real deal. So the question is , who cares? no big deal. We all know a few things this guy wont be doing, he wont be using 3g, or sending mms
- Darcy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5I thought Engadget and Apple spam were the same thing.
- Airspeeder, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Why didn't this person just politely ask the guy instead of taking stalkerish photos of him to post on the internet?
