- jaw96, on 10/11/2007, -5/+172Does everyone at Apple try to look like Steve Jobs?
- mikeybb555, on 10/11/2007, -11/+144Excited that it supports viewing Microsoft word documents, PDF's...also to note the live traffic flow for Google maps is great!!!
Disappointed... it doesn't look like you will be able to use your songs as ringers. Hopefully that will change over time.
Overall sleek interface!!! - tbeseda, on 10/11/2007, -5/+117Kinda funny that Apple has posted a walkthrough. Next they will be putting up unboxing pics!
- SassyPants23, on 10/11/2007, -22/+126WOW! This Phone is going to be amazing
- Quix, on 10/11/2007, -15/+98What a great demo. Anyone who doesn't see the iPhone as a market-changing device is simply blinded by irrational Apple hate (naw, not much of that on Digg, right?).
Can't wait to get my hands (fingers) on one... - bpapa, on 10/11/2007, -12/+85If you watch that video and still don't want one, I have to question your sanity.
- cybermort, on 10/11/2007, -11/+78why don't other phone makers give guided tours of how I will be using the phone's features before I buy it.... oh thats right! Because it would be obvious, the phone will frustrate the ***** out of me. (I hate you t-mobile MDA)
- xjebbx, on 10/11/2007, -2/+64you can call John Appleseed his number is (408)550-3542
- zer0cubed, on 10/11/2007, -5/+54Why don't they ever talk about the calendar feature? I'm really interested in how it will integrate with iCal and alert me about my appointments and stuff. The button is there, but from what I've seen, they haven't talked about it once.
- eneshelon, on 10/11/2007, -15/+61im gonna get so much ass using this phone on the subway! like BOYBAND ass
- kiheimac, on 10/11/2007, -7/+47It's nice to finally see the iPhone settings and other options. I was hoping to see them flip the phone sideways while in "Keyboard" mode. I think it would be a nice surprise to see a larger keyboard input when the phone is sideways.
- jpurnell, on 10/11/2007, -8/+47looking at it, it really is better than we thought.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -9/+48That is ***** incredible. I didn't want want and iphone before seeing this movie.
Now I want one but can't afford it
Buy me an iphone! - jp3550, on 10/11/2007, -3/+33I'm impressed. The only depressing part, is the price. But it looks like it may be worth it. Apple sure knows how to market.
- Langhorn, on 10/11/2007, -2/+31I can't really say anything about the functionality of the phone until i hold one in my hand, but man! that must be the sleekest UI that has ever been made! Beautiful!
- virtualball, on 10/11/2007, -2/+27Yeah, they say it comes PRELOADED with ringtones, but no mention of your own. Thats kinda like saying "they didn't mention the camera so it doesn't exist."
- Ireland, on 10/11/2007, -4/+29"Disappointed... it doesn't look like you will be able to use your songs as ringers."
Honestly, what makes you say that? The guy never says that, Here's what he says about ringtones: "iPhone comes preloaded with some great ringtones.. to listen to the ringtones and to set a new one, tap ringtone, and tap the ringtone you wanna hear." It's pretty much guaranteed you manage your ringtones in iTunes, but you pick what one you want on your phone on the phone. I'd bet my life you'll be able to add any song from your iTunes library to your ringtones list within iTunes, by simple drag and drop - chill pill. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+28Apple better add street-view aswell.
- sjbdallas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21One way to get noticed by him is to emulate your boss. Unfortunately, mine is that guy with the Zune tattoo.
- Djerrid, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23I donated one green thumb to your cause.
- Ireland, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19"Does everyone at Apple try to look like Steve Jobs?"
No, but black attire is obligatory :P - pcarm92, on 10/11/2007, -0/+16It actually is a real number. It directs you to "John Appleseed's" voicemail. Basically an add for the iPhone..
- wildsnake, on 10/11/2007, -8/+21Now that's hot. I want it
- fantasticjon, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15Could be problematic if someone calls right at then end of a song. You might think the ringtone is just the beginning of the next song. There would have to be someway to differentiate the ring tones from the songs while you were listening to music.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+19Wow, I didn't catch that. My thought was just "creepy"
- kiddailey, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12More does not mean better. It's all about the interface.
- Zanneth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11I was really impressed with that "slide" gesture for deleting items. That's really intuitive!
- scottschiller, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12The UI is what (IMO) really sells this thing, and Apple appear to have done a pretty damn nice job as usual. Well done. Now if they can cell (boo, hiss) it without charging an arm and a leg for service + data plan and tie you to a 2-plus-year contract, I'll be truly impressed.
- dacjames, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12i _want_ one, damn you verizon!
- Schelske, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10It's hard to believe you haven't heard about the features in the slog of article that never stop about this thing. The phone has a proximity sensor so that when you lift it to your face it turns off the touch screen - both the image and the touch sensor.
- superkendall, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Why, because he's white and wears a shirt?
He didn't have a black turtleneck (much less a black shirt), he didn't have a beard... how much different should the guy look? - jkoke, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10I wish more commercials simply and clearly explained what a device does, how it works and how to use it.
- johnhummel, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13No, but expect plenty of unboxing iPhone on Engadget, Techfreaks, and so on shortly after it's released.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9I would recommend you stop listening to Dvorak.
http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html - gordeaoux, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10You mean "have to press and hold 1 ***** button." Is that really that much more time than quickly pressing 2 or 3?
- node3, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10I disagree. "Worthless" is overly harsh.
GPS would be nice, but you almost *always* know where you are. If you don't, just type in the nearest cross-street.
Again, not saying GPS wouldn't be really nice, just that it's not as crucial as some people make it out to be.
I think that actual GPS would add too much bulk to the device, and that cell tower triangulation would be much better in most cases. That's also something that should be very easy to add after the fact, since it's done by the network, not the phone, and I really hope they add it. - BryanJK, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9If they can, good for you! but the iPhone basically makes it alot nicer and easier too use than those devices.... which is why I REALLY want one.
- Damienk, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10I want the disassembly walk through...
- sunroom, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Thank you for bringing the phrase "Double Triple Whoa Duh" into existence
- deadbaby, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7This video went a long way towards re-selling me on the iPhone. Now if they'd just do an official port of iChat I would feel a lot better about spending $600 on it.
- dacjames, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7i txted him. we'll see
- staffrocket, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I thought you were in jail.
- fantasticjon, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11I don't know why you are getting dugg down. I agree. The map feature is kinda neat, but with GPS it would be 100 times more useful.
I could see some cool uses if it had GPS like. "list all the restaurants within walking distance." "Find the closest emergency room to my location right now." - trunkster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7If you are with AT&T you can buy the iPhone for the same price as a new customer, even if your contract isn't over. I believe it just resets your contract another 2 years.
- ScooperJay, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9I got his voicemail. I'll text him.....?
You could also email him johnappleseed@mac.com
Or even better, if you live in his neighborhood stop by and visit?

Hopefully by then it will be a whole lot less expensive.
How is Apple, inc so incredible at doing this whole iPod thing? - bpapa, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Then you are just in denial.
- AWidgetIHaveNot, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8This phone demo almost made me cum in my pants. The UI is brilliant. Whoever made the comment above about the iPhone and Crack is right. The thing is, I've tried Crack and compared to the iPhone it's meh.
- deadbaby, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6How many people do you know who actually edit documents on a phone? The BlackBerry, the most popular smart phone, includes no editing features and it's doing just fine because no one really uses these features. It's a tedious, frustrating, experience to edit documents on a phone and , honestly, how often do you need to do it?
- delhokie, on 10/11/2007, -5/+11Notice the top of the unit- there is no mention that there is a Sim card slot... however, there looks to be a 'knockout' on top of the phone. Image taken from video here: http://myskitch.com/delhokie/apple-iphone-welcome_848x480.mov-20070622-133524/
