(8 - splammo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31three iPhone related articles on the front page in one day. if apple isnt working on an iPhone it better catch a hint from the public and get its act together to make this thing happen.
- megatard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21I don't see how Apple could not be working on there own phone atm, especially after the atrocity that was the ROKR.
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24And most digg users don't like myspace. This proves the fact that digg users actually know what good graphic design is.
- razei, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17If the final product looks anything like the one in the video that's been floating around, I'm gonna have to get one.
- cheztir, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16why org tho?
- aOenEz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16What find? People have been posting that URL in every single iPhone article's comment section since forever. I personally do believe that Apple is in the process of making a phone, but that URL doesn't prove anything. It was registered all the way back in 1999. They most likely registered it in a just-in-case scenario, as with most of their patents.
Then again though, it is quite interesting that Apple had come up with the iInsertnamehere scheme all the way back in the 90s. But yeah, suffice to say iPhone.org doesn't prove anything. - krazytom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Will apple allow verizion or cingular, etc. to put their logos on their precious iphone?
- JimXugle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10... maybe the iPod Software Devs are using those commands just to ***** around with people like us?
- Slayback, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I've been thinking about this for a while, and I almost think that it might make more sense for Apple to make the next iPod a bluetooth audio device that controls phones rather than a standalone phone. All they'd have to do is add bluetooth and a new ear-bud style with an integrated mic and that'd be it. Then people can answer calls seamlessly while listening to their iPod, but without buying a new phone, plan, etc. They only have to come out with one model and it works with everyone. And of course it could sync all the contacts with most phones so you'd have your address book and other things right on your iPod.
Who knows what Apple will pull next though. It'll be exciting to see! - merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15Um... exactly what evidence is there that this isn't just an update for the ROKR?
- mlerner, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12"Um... exactly what evidence is there that this isn't just an update for the ROKR?"
Umm iTunes updates are normally just for the ipod and the PC/Mac software. Apple doesn't own the ROKR, Motorola does so they are the only company that can issue updates to their phones. - cheztir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9the itunes "button", god that was a sad excuse for an iTunes phone.
- AndreGerber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6All things starting with an "i" these days cost a small fortune...
- walterd93, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"why org tho?"
b/c .com is taken. - ubaid1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I don't know why you got dugg down. That's a good question. However, I think, like one speculation held, Apple would probably go through a big premium provider, repackage and sell the services, in an easy to understand manner. This would be VZW or Cing. Thus, if apple is selling service, then there would be no logos. Just a cute Apple.
- ubaid1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9They've owned that domain since 1999, which was before the iPod, I beleive. If you've just discovered the domain now, you mut have been sleeping while all the other rumor mills went through it. I don't mean to be rude, it's just that since the iPhone domain has been held since 1999, I don't think it has much (or as much) relevence to the topic. Great input though, as clearly people didn't know apple had the domain. According to the whois, it was registered in December, 1999. For more info, consult search:

edit: got to it first AoenEz, sorry about the dual post - rickpable, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6WWDC is right around the corner, so only time will tell.
- corsairstw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You know, I almost submitted this story but I saw there is a dupe that's about 13 days old AND has over 950 diggs... so I didn't... Curses!!! Foiled again!
But in all seriousness, I love Apple, but people are getting really r-r-r-revved up about the possibility of an iPhone. ( I would love it though).

nice find yensed - t3hX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ok, look, this is stupid. I searched the mentioned firmware files, and found nothing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5It was on appleinsider. click the link at the bottom of the engadget article and look at the date.

some sort of storage medium - AZTriGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3What I want to know is when they are coming out with the uShut...
- AkshayGenius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What happened about the hover-pod thing. That new patent by apple which enables you to scroll on the screen without actually touching, just hovering above it? Any relation with this. Maybe they are planning to release an OQO sized tablet pc, with iPod features and ability to make all sorts of calls (3G, UMTS, GSM, etc) That would be awesome. Maybe 2.0 Ghz with atleast 1GB RAM and 256MB video card( so that I will be able to play awesome games on i.e after installing windows on it obviously) With a really cool OS. It should maybe have atleast 2 MP camera(dont mind anything higher)
Well Well... - noeljohnhoward, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9wait, this is a dupe.
i hate to be the "dupe guy" but im pretty sure ive read this, i got all excited then too.
thx for the second wave of excitement i guess - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Um... exactly what evidence is there that this isn't just an update for the ROKR?"
From Post: "These are definitely not from the Motorola phones, as they are running a completely different OS. These are also not from the contact and address lists features that can contain phone numbers." - DelMonte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1kwojniak, too bad you got dug down, you might be onto something...
DashCode, the DashBoard widget making program is about to be released at WWDC.
What if future iPods could run some special type of DashBoard widgets that DashCode can output?
That would be a great way to open the iPod platform for software developers. Html+css+javascript would make a great open platform...
It would give enough hardware abstraction that a widget couldn't crash your iPod or affect the music playing. - jackcall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@razei:
Were you thinking of this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5qGn7kIkM
IMHO that's a seriously cool phone, it's as if they took a Sony-Ericsson p900, ran it over with a steamroller and gave it a aluminum casing, pretty sweet...
I just don't hope it's nothing like the photo in the engadget article, that's just butt ugly. - TinFoil209, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The audio part wouldn't be too much of an issue, yet the contacts thing would be cause many cell companies turn off or never put in the OBEX (OBject Exchange) profile that is needed for contacts, appointments transfer. We might put in ring tones for free,,, Curse you sprint and my LG.
- 3adkied, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1garageband? office software? Don't for get universal TV remote, something to communicate to ATMs so I can replace credit cards, some way to drive my car with it, and a toilet paper dispenser.
Seriously, that's a decent list. Most phones already have a large share of those, I know 3G includes video conferencing. Personally, while recording sound (voice memos) is nice, I think garageband to edit recorded music would be a bit too much bloat for a phone. Syncing to .mac would be great, though. Also, being able to use it for some computer control like either Apple Remote or Salling Clicker would be nice.
And one more - make phone calls. - catoutfit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1or they're using t-mobi.......*drops out*
- klang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11$ and $50 a month for 6 months .. with free unlimited sms'es?
- kwojniak, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5The only reason Apple would ever release a device like this at WWDC is if it had the ability to run third-party apps.
- patrickloggins, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3If that's true, Apple has gone up yet another notch on my super stick.
- scoobydiesel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I have to agree if it looks anything like the one in that video then i might have to get myself one. There is no way they cant ignore all the people That are talking about this "Iphone" so they should just come out of the closet already.
- fliped, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow.. never thought of that. I think your getting somewhere. Have the iPod connect to a phone with bluetooth turning the iPod itself into a phone.. thats genius...
- joelthoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I believe that the phone part of the updates was geared towards current model phones that offer iTunes compatibility.
- klang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Had I been an Apple Developer, that's what I would do... if I could get away with it.
(Everything you write in the sourcecode is checked.. and can be tracked back to you) - beg513, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3thats not the iphone thats just a theme
- rickpable, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I really wish I could find these when I search. I searched as many combinations as I could think of and got nothing.
- IpodCrazy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When it goes out, I wonder how much it'll cost.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Could it be possible that Apple could just be working on ways to further integrate a new version of the ROKR into iTunes? I'm not saying that an iPhone isn't in the works, it just seems like this is not exactly damning evidence.
I think a phone wouldn't be the best move for Apple. They need to concentrate on making the iPod better and better and try to bolster sales of their PCs. A phone just seems a little bit out of step for Apple - klang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"thats not the iphone thats just a theme"
.. the "morphing theme", right? - AZTriGuy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4@Ireland
Can you hear me now?
goooooood... - chedabob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1old as the hills. well not that old. but its been on digg before
- a99tandem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The iPhone is either going to be a huge piece of crap- or a wonderful thing!! Not that huge pieces of crap dont sell well or anything.. the problem is that the phone manufacturer they are supposedly working with is a chinese company infamous for making bootleg copies of other phones. What!? Chinese company bootlegging other devices?? The OTHER thing I've heard is that the new Blackberry "Stealth" due out next month MIGHT have iTunes built in.. We'll see!
