- highlite, on 09/30/2008, -0/+27Oh please have sub categories for the app store! I hate having to scroll through 1,000+ games.
- drakethegreat, on 10/01/2008, -2/+28Obligatory wheres cut and paste and MMS?
- AsceticMonk, on 09/30/2008, -0/+19Not sure why, but I am not too fond of the Google search field next to the address, it looks too crowded.
- TheFerruccio, on 10/01/2008, -1/+14One of the commenters links to a supposed video site called "tubedirect.net"
Avoid this site at all costs.
It attempts to raid Firefox with pop ups to compel you to install software that is, in fact, a virus. There is no way that I know of to close those pop ups without going into the task manager and ending the firefox.exe process.
Looks like this problem is too new to show up on any major virus removal boards.
Just noting. - AceyS, on 10/01/2008, -0/+9I don't want to be a "copy & paste!!1!" whore because, well, I was never promised that. But I am pissed there still isn't push notification.
push notifications!!1! - inactive, on 10/01/2008, -2/+9Soooooo... Nothing important?
I hope they bring back the "Update All" icon in the App store. I hate having to update everything manually since it takes you to the home screen right after tapping the update icon. On such a slow firmware they have no reason to make it take even longer. - inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5Half the 'games' are utilities, like "random number generator' ooh wee-- and "poker odds generator", i'm playing that GAME right now!!
- FearNLoathing, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4I agree. This is the only thing that I really want. What the hell, Apple? Who cares about Safari interface tweaks...
- drmsux, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4It's a good thing that Chrome blocks alerts in a loop -)
Also, http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/report_badware/ - r3zonance, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Better than Windows Mobile OS Updates once/twice a year.
- Frozo, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3PLEASE add a real SEARCH button in Contacts! Scrolling up to "A" and having to aim your finger on that tiny magnifying glass is unnecessarily challenging.
- JDub800, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3How many variants of this story are flying around?
- GothAlice, on 10/01/2008, -1/+4You're a troll, but it has to be said: you are a ***** moron.
There. Saved everybody else on the internet a little time. - AlmostEvil, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3Since popups use javascript the easiest way to prevent that sort of thing is by using noscript.
- TomFrost, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2Early reports say it causes people to get dugg into oblivion when they spam their website.
- damnyooneek, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2andriod will work if the developers are able to get paid. free apps are always great for the consumer but developers won't be as motivated
- EmileVictor, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2I lost the game. :(
Thank god there's an app for that too! - inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2But, will there be churros and edible computers?
Give us a sign, adjust your shorts. - eliasg, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2You don't have to scroll to A. You can just tap the title bar and it will take you straight to the top.
- PurpleSfinx, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2Cool. The NES emulator sounds cool, does it run wellwith most ROMs? Does that GPS locator actually exist?
Oh, and do you (or anyone) have Cycorder installed? If so, is it good? - Bootes, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2The NES emulator works very well, Cycorder does as well. I don't know about the GPS thing.
- grassiness, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2I found 34 mistakes comparing the two pictures. I haz fun!
- Virgule, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1ya.
MSCodecLite.7.exe (21.0 KB) - PurpleSfinx, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1I was hoping the app store would bring with it video recording, bluetooth, mms...
Unfortunately, it turns out those aren't allowed... ***** Apple.
Anyway, I was wondering if it's worth jailbreaking my iPhone. I don't want to risk the phone breaking and not having a warranty (in case I can't remove it), but I really want video recording.
What other good apps are there for jailbroken iPhones that make it worth jailbreaking?
(I live in Australia so 'tethering' is useless; I'm on a 100mb plan). - TehDoctor, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1There's a cool app called dTunes that lets you download music and videos for free, even in Safari, and adds them to its own database. There's a tool that lets sync with Google calendar, plus there are theming programs, some games, and other stuff, like a terminal and Unix utilities if you're into that. Jailbreaking isn't really dangerous. If things don't work right, you just restore the phone. I've also noticed no slowdowns caused by the jailbreak, so it's safe in that respect, also.'
The one thing I want from Apple is to be able to edit and name multiple playlists. This thing is a whole computer, why the ***** can it only do one playlist called "On-the-go"? - cgruber, on 10/01/2008, -1/+2I think that was removed because devs can charge for updates. Could be quite the surprise when 5 applications charge your $10 each for that new version. I'd be down with an upgrade all free button.
- TheFerruccio, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1You know, I've been looking for a place to report bad websites. Thank you for the link.
I filed an ic3 report just for the heck of it. - 80hd, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1you would be surprised.
on campus @ Purdue it's about 1/3 iphones, 1/3 blackberries, 1/3 everything elses.. - coredump0x01, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1NES emulator, ability to put your icons in folders, full file system access, customizable interface/sounds/keyboard skins (though can slow things down a bit), apps can run in the background if they need to such as a GPS locator that could aid in the recovery of a stolen/lost iPhone, can sync media wirelessly with Linux, can add a 'desktop' background picture, full UNIX terminal, bittorrent client, and a lot more things i can't think of right now. All in all I'm pretty pleased with jailbreaking my iPhone, YMMV. BTW, I used Quickpwn.
- Platina, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1I own one. But i think many here owns an iPod Touch. I´s almost the same thing.
- nikhil1986, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Or just click on the alphabet (your friend's first name) in the column on the right. Thats so much easier than typing the persons name.
- kayamm, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1And please add an option to turn off T9 and fix the caller numbers for international users, ***** apple is thinking just for American market
- plokij909, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Please have an option to disable the SMS notification reminder!
- PurpleSfinx, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1As for the playlist thing, I discovered that myself today and was frustrated by it. Stupid.
Also, some of those apps sound cool. Google calender is the best calendar I've ever used, for now I can stick with my built in iPhone one.
The think about removing the jailbreak is, my phone is obviously broken in some way if I'm sending it back under warranty. What if that thing is that it can't connect to the computer or something like that, or can't turn on altogether? Then I can't remove the jailbreak. - mongrel, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1You know, if you're trying to make Safari more FRIGGIN CONVENIENT, maybe "Open link in new window" would be a handy touch. This are retarded.
- theweapon, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Apple: Why can't I read reviews of music in mobile iTunes!? Please add this BASIC feature. You have it in the app store!
- cmsjustin, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1Ever had your ***** pushed in?
- amneosis, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1FFS a single email inbox, please Apple.
- bmdt2000, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1...and push notifications, etc, etc.
I understand that this is probably just a glimpse of what's to come, but I wish they would make this a 2.1.1 or whatever the next number should be. I hardly think small updates qualify for a 2.2. - TehDoctor, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1"Also, some of those apps sound cool. Google calender is the best calendar I've ever used, for now I can stick with my built in iPhone one."
The on-phone one is nice, but syncing them both is nicer ;)
"Then I can't remove the jailbreak."
If it's that hosed, they won't be able to tell. - Frozo, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1No, thats the screen you get when you are already in the search window. This Search button is like a "Go" button after you type in a few letters. It;s actually a pointless button as it is now anyway. It doesnt really DO anything--the search results come up as you type.
- Frozo, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Nice tip thanks! However it seems to only work 50% of the time. I tried single and double tapping, but it seems very inconsistent.
- scoetrain, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1I wish they could do something about all the fake reviews in the App Store. It's ridiculous.
- Cheysuli, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Is A2DP too much to ask?
- grifta67, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Copy and Paste are desirable, as is MMS. But those are perks. I just want 2.2 to fix my broken Gmail.
Having mobile access to your email goes from a convenience to a hassle when it won't check for new mail unless you manually open the mail app! - kishosingh, on 10/01/2008, -1/+1Is it only for Safari and a new version?
- FireEgg, on 10/01/2008, -0/+0I wish they would clean up the store, there is too much ***** in there, with all due respect to the developers.
- Killinspree, on 10/01/2008, -1/+1New day new iPhone firmware
- FireEgg, on 10/01/2008, -0/+01) Fix the issue of grouping albums with the same name (Like Greatest Hits), it doesn't do it on the iPod, why should it on the iPhone!.
2) Add the colours when syncing with outlook. (yes I should own a mac, and I would if I could afford one)
3) The ability to create additional folders in email.
4) A2DP
5) Forwarding SMS
6) Video Recording
I could all go on forever. Even so, I still love the phone. -
