- IphtashuFitz, on 03/12/2009, -1/+354The title is inaccurate: The official announcement is coming on the 17th. No word yet (as far as I know) as to when it will actually be available. I wouldn't hold my breath for the actual release if the 2.0 announcement/release is any indicator.
- inactive, on 03/12/2009, -12/+293It's been confirmed by Apple that copy/paste is too dangerous as it could 'take down the entire west coast cellular network.'
- jkroge, on 03/12/2009, -2/+257So ... basically this is an announcement of an announcement?
- trix911, on 03/12/2009, -10/+253Probably just VoiceOver.....
/s - bcr8u, on 03/12/2009, -4/+187So... it's not actually coming March 17th...
- eboy, on 03/12/2009, -11/+166xcode 4? Ichat, video camera via the front screen? Ice cream maker?
- adrianc1982, on 03/12/2009, -10/+140I know some anti-iphone and anti-apple fans will digg me down, but the iphone is the best thing that could ever happen to me. It just keeps getting better and I couldnt live without one anymore, its become a light version of my laptop and when you are on a trip checking email, webpages and other stuff is a few clicks or touches away. The iphone is the best thing to ever happen to the mobile market really.
- m3mn0n, on 03/12/2009, -1/+87FTA: "iPhone OS 3.0 is coming, preview on March 17th"
submitter = fail - inverted7001, on 03/12/2009, -0/+80@kiffar You can have paste. Copy will take a while.
- kiffar, on 03/12/2009, -7/+85Well I'm on east coast so.. can i has copy/paste?
- nephari, on 03/12/2009, -3/+78I'd upgrade my iPhone in a heartbeat if the new one could make ice cream.
- deealf, on 03/12/2009, -2/+73buried for incredibly inaccurate headline
the article is right, your headline is wrong - PhoenixAvatar2, on 03/12/2009, -5/+76iPhone users are paying a monthly fee.
- puter, on 03/12/2009, -2/+68Completely misleading title, it is just a preview...the update is still months away.
buried. - hyAxis, on 03/12/2009, -3/+66For those who didn't get it...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_4a4O7kXQo - angelgabe, on 03/12/2009, -11/+71Drop AT&T.
- thenameisfinger, on 03/12/2009, -8/+67Screw copy and paste. Where's my "Green to White" technology?
- ahawks, on 03/12/2009, -6/+52Copy/paste?
mms?
push notifications?
multitasking?
Landscape mode anywhere? (or at least, in SMS?) - shitton, on 03/12/2009, -5/+47do we have any details on what's getting updated?
- bpeacock22, on 03/12/2009, -21/+63Hopefully with the announcement of a 32 GB version of the iPhone.
- auggie2k, on 03/12/2009, -1/+42No there isn't, there's a 32GB iPod Touch so get your details straight before you go saying names!
- icurnvs, on 03/12/2009, -3/+43It works great as a phone. The speakerphone feature is well done and loud. My reception everywhere has been fantastic. The third party apps are amazing as well. You won't be disappointed.
- vswraith, on 03/12/2009, -6/+46Yes Yes Yes....devTeam be ready!
- JMCtg, on 03/12/2009, -16/+56pssst, hey Apple, if you opened up your OS a little, you wouldn't have to spend so much time/money developing new features that your community could develop for free/close to free and in a fraction of the time it takes you... shocking, I know.
- HypocriteDigg, on 03/12/2009, -0/+37Seriously, are you too lazy to click the link and read a few sentences?
- gaqua, on 03/12/2009, -6/+411. MMS compatibility.
- SergeiGolos, on 03/12/2009, -3/+37A2DP - why is my "ipod" with built in bluetooth not able to do stereo bluetooth?
- diggitalism, on 03/12/2009, -3/+36they're probably just removing safari and itunes cause their content is deemed "offensive"
- jpsoraire, on 03/12/2009, -3/+33ice cream maker...lol
- revsd5, on 03/12/2009, -1/+30Hurray, another inaccurate digg title!
- hawksfan03, on 03/12/2009, -1/+29@atsumori It was implied but since you did get it. add /sarcasm to the end of wbuffet's post
- thecosmicpope, on 03/12/2009, -1/+29iPhone updates have always been free.
- Faasnat, on 03/12/2009, -4/+30My inside source tells me that copy/paste has been implemented in v3.0. However, being able to highlight the text won't be introduced till v4.0....
:-P - inactive, on 03/12/2009, -1/+25iPod users had to pay to get the maps, weather, and stocks applications that weren't originally packaged with the iPod. We had to pay again when the app store came out. All of these have been free for iPhone users. What makes it even worse was that they packaged new iPods with this software, but the loyal apple consumers who adopted early got screwed and apple made us pay.
- DaveF, on 03/12/2009, -4/+28I've been on a cheap flip phone for the last six years ... just starting to look into a "smartphone" now ... I have a question since this digg will be filled with iphone fans: how well does it work as a phone? Is the speakerphone feature well done? Good reception inside buildings?
Thanks - PhoenixAvatar2, on 03/12/2009, -0/+24Uh, why wouldn't it be?
- xrEE, on 03/12/2009, -2/+24I agree, it's the best gadget I've ever owned. I've had it since launch and it's become an extension of me.
And the only apple product I've ever owned. - uknowwhoibe, on 03/12/2009, -4/+24When you stop thinking of it as a "hack" and more like a program, you'll stop digging me down.
Just because Apple doesn't like it, doesn't mean it's wrong. - tiiim, on 03/12/2009, -2/+21Rather than just push notifications how about "controlled" multi-tasking?
- imautobot, on 03/12/2009, -2/+21MMS, Flash, user alterable dictionary, camera snaps photo regardless of where you touch the screen, cut and paste, turn by turn voice GPS, one touch common text responses, decent (less pathetic) ringtones, Ability to attach multiple photos to an email, landscape keyboard for Text and Email, bluetooth keyboard support.
On the hardware side; User serviceable battery, Real QWERTY keyboard attachable at bottom like Xbox Chatpad. - spidoman, on 03/12/2009, -7/+26"but the iphone is the best thing that could ever happen to me."
:(
Seriously :( - Nosferotu, on 03/12/2009, -3/+22True that. I anxiously look forward to not downloading this update until it's jailbroken.
- SirLoinofBeef, on 03/12/2009, -6/+25Flash
- Anth, on 03/12/2009, -0/+19^^^^ THIS
Its not coming out. Its simply an official announcement and preview. - d3bruts1d, on 03/12/2009, -0/+19Only for iTouch users.
- drlha, on 03/12/2009, -1/+19The post submitter clearly was.
- ryleyleckie, on 03/12/2009, -0/+18push notifications.
- ahawks, on 03/12/2009, -2/+20Take note guys, they are not releasing the update TO USERS on the 17th.
"Apple's calling this an "advance preview of what we're building," so we're not expecting anything ready to go as of the 17th, but hopefully this will allow developers to start building toward future functionality (hey, how about some push notifications?), and presumably users won't have too many months to wait after that for the real deal." - ssavoy, on 03/12/2009, -2/+20And they disable the home button
- lostarchitect, on 03/12/2009, -1/+18duh.
