- Dankoozy, on 07/10/2008, -9/+184w0w. that didn't take long
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -11/+119There should be laws that ban internet from people like this.

What is the point of Jail Breaking when there is the app store? " - JBravada, on 07/10/2008, -8/+99Although the 3G iphone looks cool, besides more accurate maps location services (GPS) & data speeds being 2x faster, if I can get the 2.0 firmware on my 2G iPhone + unlimited 5 favs for $40 less/month, I'd rather do that and wait an extra 5 seconds for my email to send.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+89There's now a "slide to unlock" slider.
- innovaciones, on 07/10/2008, -4/+80app store + installer FTW!
- UnPlusUnEgalSix, on 07/10/2008, -4/+76Background apps for everyone!
- DontEatTheFish, on 07/10/2008, -8/+63Let's Digg this when it is actually available to the public.
- MtheoryX, on 07/10/2008, -1/+40"...any app whatsoever..."
Like AutoCAD? Sweet! - earnjam, on 07/10/2008, -5/+44The betas have been out for a while, so they probably got a head start.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -5/+42so exclusive it was reported on about 20 other sites before gizmodo picked it up
- wonkavsn, on 07/10/2008, -3/+36Everything is turning up Milhouse!!
- kkapoor, on 07/10/2008, -8/+36Can you unlock without jailbrake?
- hypermite, on 07/11/2008, -1/+27that's what she said.
- eekfuh, on 07/10/2008, -0/+25No you can't. You can't unlock it without getting access to the files (to execute the software that unlocks it), which mean you have jailbroken the phone.
- HolyMan28, on 07/10/2008, -6/+26***** that was fast.
- jtbell04, on 07/10/2008, -0/+20Apple doesn't even try anymore.
- akkibaba, on 07/10/2008, -0/+18299 + 170 = 469.
- skottles, on 07/10/2008, -3/+21Yes! I can use the Digg summerboard theme once again!
- Dradu, on 07/10/2008, -1/+17Because this is on the 2.0 firmware, do all of the old apps like Tap Tap Revolution work, or do they have to be completely rewritten?
How will I ever LIVE without iBrate? :'( - mockupscaledown, on 07/10/2008, -1/+16If Installer.app and the App Store can live together peacefully, this will be great for users. I was bummed that upgrading to 2.0 was going to make me lose my Terminal and SSH ability, but now things are looking hopeful.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -5/+19You walk out of the store with an AT&T contract. In fact before the phone is even purchased, one must agree to a two year contract that has 170$ cancellation fee minimum.
- pyrates, on 07/10/2008, -2/+15Why are you all surprised? They were able to unlock every beta of the 2.0 software, so why is this suddenly shocking?
- NetGX, on 07/10/2008, -12/+23Come on it was submitted over 8 hours ago: http://digg.com/apple/Living_in_harmony_iPhone_Fir ...
- KJSatz, on 07/10/2008, -1/+12Let's do some math. $599 for 8GB phone without contract
--OR--
$199 for 8GB phone with contract plus $170 cancellation = $369. - conversekid, on 07/10/2008, -6/+16With hours to spare until it is actually released.
Jesus christ. - inactive, on 07/12/2008, -0/+9Yes, but the iPhone Pwnage app (soon to be released) will let you run any app whatsoever on your iPhone.
- Quicksilver4648, on 07/10/2008, -1/+10Well each of the beta builds were jailbroken almost instantly. I didn't expect the final release to take much longer.
- MalDON, on 07/10/2008, -6/+15So ... when can I start to pirate iphone games?
- superkendall, on 07/10/2008, -1/+10Err, the message I responded to had everything to do with the 3G model. Try responding to him.
- superkendall, on 07/10/2008, -1/+9I'm kind of in agreement (keeping my old iPhone for a while instead of getting a new one) but it should be pointed out the new phone also has better reception, and better microphone/speakers (for better sound quality).
Better stock up on headphone adaptors now that they are obsolete! - superkendall, on 07/10/2008, -1/+9Using the iPhone on any network you like - Priceless.
At least, I can see people thinking that way. - MavRevMatt, on 07/10/2008, -0/+7No, it's jailbroken.
- xkorbin, on 07/11/2008, -1/+7Hey, *****.
I hate to bring a completely irrelevant topic into the iPhone post; but, look at FISA. The Declaration says that if we need to act, rebellion must take place.
Your "fall in line" comment is complete *****. While this is a different scale, look at MLK Jr... If he would have just stood in line, I mean, where would he have gotten?
You're a sheep. - TheNeptune, on 07/10/2008, -1/+7Why would they want to hack their OS? It doesn't have any sort of activation or OS related DRM... so there isn't really a point, plenty of people 'hack' it outside the GUI user config options to make it more usable / slimmed down though... it's fairly easy to do since it's built on a FreeBSD foundation...
A pretty pointless post really... especially if you're trying to hint at viruses in comparing software you download, run, and give permission to have a level of control. - Echomote, on 07/10/2008, -0/+6"You walk out of the store with an AT&T contract" -- iPhone 2.0 is a firmware, iPhone 3G comes with 2.0 but that doesn't make it exclusive to 2.0.
- Tikisam, on 07/10/2008, -0/+6If it's as easy as iJailbreak you're gonna have a lot of freetime this weekend.
- kingfoot, on 07/10/2008, -1/+7wow youre cool.
- FatShady, on 07/11/2008, -0/+6Perhaps I'll be importing an iPhone 3G from Belgium, then.
- freqk, on 07/11/2008, -1/+6Milhouse is not a meme.
(uh oh) - NaziHatinChimp, on 07/11/2008, -0/+5I don't think Apple really cares. They just don't want to pay for every Tom, Dick and Sally warranty wise for everyone who jailbreaks an iPhone, because it may ***** it up. Happened to me.
- BlackAdam, on 07/11/2008, -4/+9That's what she said.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+6why not wait a few days. who cares if you get it first?
- eekfuh, on 07/10/2008, -3/+8I totally thought I had responded to him, weird.
- egzeqtA, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5Big smile :)
- inactive, on 07/11/2008, -1/+6Don't be "that guy."
Prices were an outrage before piracy. Not much will change if piracy is eliminated.
It is a companies problem if they'd like to secure them or not. If someone is going to steal a program without security, they will with it regardless.
If their methods are wrong, I for one am not going to be taken advantage of so why cant my methods be wrong. Two wrongs not making a right is a whole lot better than one wrong raping me up the ass.
Lastly, what is wrong with Jailbreaking the iPhone? It does no harm to any company. If a company sees a similar app on Installer than it should be their duty to one-up them. Competition is good. No competition is bad. Look at the Internet Providers. Comcast, ATT, and TimeWarner pretty much own all of the interweb. Look at what they're instituting now! Bandwidth Caps. Sucks without competition. - Rolamoto, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5RTFA. It says that they unlocked and jail broke.
- teh_techie, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5Weekend project? This should take minutes.
- Zandarrr, on 07/10/2008, -4/+9Good work.
- Rudegar, on 07/10/2008, -2/+6yes you can in belgium iphone 3g will be sold unlocked officialy not shady so
it can be don - yeskia, on 07/11/2008, -5/+9Hey, hey.
Guess what.
I just had an idea.
I don't know if its going to work, but we'll try it just anyway to see what happens...
TRY SHUTTING THE ***** UP. -
