- JohnsonGotOwned, on 08/13/2008, -3/+56This game is harder to control than two year old drinking espresso.
- MikeSetera, on 08/11/2008, -21/+70I bootlegged it.. the controls are downright HORRIBLE. Not possible to control precisely AT ALL. Epic failure to me. Glad I didn't pay $10 for it.
- jackwk, on 08/13/2008, -0/+44How about they use that 3 million dollars and hire someone to add a save feature.
- Evilblobs, on 08/11/2008, -1/+43Tilting and accelerometers make Gamepads look like precision controllers.
- AntFoolish, on 08/11/2008, -4/+43Hype sold this product. The game is WAY to frustrating to play without getting an aneurysm. Needs a sensitivity setting and a calibration for the accelerometers.
- placidified, on 08/13/2008, -4/+36the controls suck monkey balls
- FasmTrout, on 08/13/2008, -1/+24I stopped reading at 'monkey balls.' I am sorry for your disfigurement.
- MalDON, on 08/13/2008, -0/+17Yea but but this is on a phone. What if I only have time for one level?
- dualboy24, on 08/13/2008, -1/+15They sold 300,000 copies...
At $10 a pop that is $3,000,000
*.7 is $2,100,000 - FasmTrout, on 08/13/2008, -1/+13Regrettably I did pay for it. I'd gotten no more than 20 minutes of use out of the game before deciding it was pointlessly hard and I haven't touched it since.
- MalDON, on 08/13/2008, -1/+13I literally haven't played it since I purchased it. In fact, i wish I could get a refund because the game is pretty *****. And the excuse that it was made in a short development cycle is not valid. Many other apps have been updated since the firmware launch, not this one.
- wphj, on 08/13/2008, -1/+13I was really disappointed at first, but you get the hang of it after a little while and it's pretty fun actually.
- InuX, on 08/13/2008, -1/+12A good free game is Aurora Feint.
- NathanCH, on 08/13/2008, -1/+12You know you can change the sensitivity right?
- ThePwnyExpress, on 08/13/2008, -2/+11great now for version 1.1 to address control and camera problems...
- ronmexico, on 08/13/2008, -0/+9Perhaps you should spend countless hours and resources creating a great game and give it away for free then.
- abteenbag, on 08/13/2008, -0/+8I had no idea how much I ***** ruled at this game until I read how hard you guys think it is.
- inactive, on 08/12/2008, -7/+15i'm tired of people whining about the controls being too hard, mine works great, it just takes a couple of plays to get used to it, and the further you get into the game the better and controlling the monkey. i'm on the last world where there are some pretty technical levels and my controls still work great for it.
- jawbreaker4fs, on 08/13/2008, -0/+8Can someone please recommend me a good iPhone game to play while taking a dump? That's seriously the only time I really get my iPhone out to surf the web/do anything... so I'm wondering where my $10 should be going. I keep hearing about how monkey ball sucks, so what's crash bandicoot like? I can't seem to find iPhone game reviews anywhere... but if anyone knows of a good site that has reviews and in-game videos please let me know!
- se1zure, on 08/13/2008, -1/+7For those who havent bought Monkey ball yet, save your money and get "enigmo". I know somone who purchased it and let me play. It is truly a blast.
- AZRoboto, on 08/13/2008, -0/+6Why is there an article in this Image submission?
- FasmTrout, on 08/13/2008, -0/+6Cube Runner is simple and fun. I am certain its level of interest will last the span of your ***** time period.
- jermm, on 08/13/2008, -0/+6Enigmo
- rocko_stazetti, on 08/13/2008, -0/+5Maybe they can make enough money to finish Shenmue 3 or . . . dare I say it, develop a new system (Dreamcast 2).
- psylence, on 08/13/2008, -0/+5For services rendered. Hosting, payment processing, MILLIONS of eyeballs consolidated in one place. There is some value.
- leerayIG88, on 08/11/2008, -5/+10Balls of Steel
- HolyMan28, on 08/13/2008, -2/+7Monkey Ball is madddd fun.
- isimon42o, on 08/13/2008, -3/+7most over rated app for the iphone in my opinion
- modusop, on 08/13/2008, -3/+7Everyone that is saying Monkey Ball is hard to control on iPhone obviously hasn't played the original games. I remember it being EXACTLY this touchy on xbox, with the main problem turning around when stopped. Nothing has changed, and the iPhone port in my opinion makes the handset look less like a phone and more like a serious gaming platform (with tons of potential).
- RJtwo, on 08/13/2008, -0/+4Some of the better ones:
Aurora Feint The Beginning - Excellent 'strategy' Bejeweled knock off. The latest version expanded the game play by adding 'powerups' and goals and is quite addictive. Gameplay leverages both portrait and landscape modes. Great graphics and animation, and best of all it's free.
Radius - excellent arcade/strategy game. Simple but unique game design, but extremely well done. Read the description online to get an idea of game play. It originally was $4 or something like that, but dropped to $1. Grab it at the low price.
Chopper - Simple side scrolling shooter, but one of the best uses of the accelerometers. Better than Monkey and Crash (which are "3d", but controls suck). Simple graphics and game play, but fun. Worth the $8
DizzyBee Free - little too cutesy, but good graphics, and good use of the accelerometers. Shows how sensitive they can truly be. Game play is clever, but not worth my money. The free version is good enough.
Moonlight Mahjong lite - standard Mahjong puzzle game, but good use of iphone gestures for navigation. And free - rfilsinger, on 08/13/2008, -1/+5The game saves once you complete a section of levels.
- Egoist, on 08/13/2008, -0/+4You have one too many zeroes in your calculation.
- smashingmonkey, on 08/13/2008, -2/+6Congratulations! Your grossly over-developed sense of entitlement perfectly exemplifies what is wrong with American culture!!
- KingLeo, on 08/13/2008, -0/+4Crash Kart is easier to control and for instance more fun to play IMO.
- smoothlou, on 08/13/2008, -3/+7I don't have a problem at all with the controls. I wonder if people don't understand that you are moving the level, not the monkey? Just wondering.
I wish I could change the neutral position, but other than that, it's a pretty great proof of concept and beats most launch titles that I've played. - Tenoq, on 08/13/2008, -2/+5It HAS a sensitivity setting.
- marcoabuso, on 08/13/2008, -0/+3They don't take into account that it was the first "real" game app available for the iPhone when the app store opened. Of course they're going to get a lot of people buying it. It was our only option!!
- Me1000, on 08/13/2008, -0/+3Yeah I know, for a second I thought they sold a 300K run or something...
huh? - inactive, on 08/13/2008, -1/+4I don't get it, it's really not all that interesting of a game. And I find the tilt control just feels off somehow.
/$0.02 - DesdinovaEL, on 08/13/2008, -2/+5Heres how the controls work.....
-Tilting forward and back moves you forward and back (duh)
-Tilting it like a steering wheel tilts the level left and right.
-Tilting it in and out from left to right rotates the camera.
Thats all there is to it. Understand that and the controls become quite sharp. Trust me:D
-abc - iofthestorm, on 08/13/2008, -0/+3Wait what? There is no XBox version of SMB. I think you're talking about the Wii version? I got it for my sister and the controls are kind of annoying, so she never plays the adventure mode and only plays the minigames, and I stopped after the 4th world or whatever because it was just too annoying to be fun. Also, the original games were on arcade and Gamecube, and I have a feeling those controls were a lot more precise.
- bluemist, on 08/13/2008, -0/+3Hard to control. It has to do with the continually changing camera angle.
- Smwbigboss, on 08/13/2008, -0/+3How many accounts do you have?
- Chebsi, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2They're different games.
=/ - Tenoq, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2WTF turpentine? Where do you come from that would not classify espresso as coffee?
- kije, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2The Ipoo'd.
- ltethe, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2damn that's an awesome response.
- jemka, on 08/13/2008, -1/+3Get off vent or I'll have you bent.
- markmckay, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2You would be surprised.
- ZenFu, on 08/13/2008, -1/+3How? AFAIK, Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart is the only real game that allows for sensitivity changes ATM.
