'iPhone Extreme' reference spotted in Apple.com HTML code
appleinsider.com — This one's a stretch, but a one-off mention of a product dubbed "iPhone Extreme" in the HTML code of one of Apple Inc.'s iPhone web pages has raised some eyebrows

- uggidi, on 10/10/2007, -9/+38yeah iPhone extreme lets the customer make calls only to other AT&T phones..
- llsethj, on 10/10/2007, -6/+13submitted 6 times already
- cosequin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1who cares? Digg works like a popularity contest, not a fifofp (first in first on front page)
- apersaud, on 10/10/2007, -15/+6While plausible, I HIGHLY doubt Apple would name a product with the word 'EXTREME'. That sounds more like another company (cough...cough..) would do....
- zpjet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25well there were several Apple AirPort Extreme Base Stations, and at least one Apple AirPort Extreme Card...
- Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12 = several ?
- Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12 = several ?
- ChromaVita, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12it should be the iPhone X-TR33ME
- over90000, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3them playing cat and mouse game with the iphone firmware also sounds more like what another company (cough... cough...) would do.
- chronichyjinx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You were wrong before you even typed that comment
- zpjet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25well there were several Apple AirPort Extreme Base Stations, and at least one Apple AirPort Extreme Card...

- axentrix, on 10/10/2007, -7/+6Just what we need, a more expensive iPhone
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8You act as if every iPhone purchased comes out of your money. Why the hell does it bother you?
- dcbebop, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Are iPhones really that expensive? I'm talking when they were back at 499 and 599.
Remember the Razr when it first came out? 500 bucks, no joke and what a POS. Remember the first Treos and Windows Mobile devices? Remember when blackberry's came out? 500 bucks.
I duno how you can say iPhones are expensive when its the EXACT same pricing model you should have forcibly ingrained in your memory at this point.
- mrroarke, on 10/10/2007, -18/+19Can we get a "Not Another *****' iPod Story" bury category?
- abrooks, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5It's an iPhone.
- Protoss, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5You could uncheck the Apple Category, would alleviate at least some of your angst.
- xJudahx, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Wow, I mean wow.
I can't wait to hype the eXtreme up for a year, go wait in line for two days to buy one, then start bitching profusely about it 2 months later. Awesome!- sodoh, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3You forgot the bit where they drop the price on your a month or so later then disable the eXtreme part on you. :)

- Otto, on 10/10/2007, -3/+571. They've removed it already.
2. It is fairly obvious that somebody simply copied the form page that they were using for the Airport Extreme and did a global search/replace for Airport with iPhone at some point. Thus resulting in the weird "product" variable.
Nothing to see here.- EASwanson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I think you hit the spot on this one.
- fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Noooooooooooo..... Steve Jobs WANTS you to think that. It's realy a super top secret brand new iPhone, and it'll be available in six EXTREME colours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1Trying to think what they could possibly add.. and I'm not liking much of it.
- petepete, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Probably there to deflect some of the poor publicity regarding unlocking
- djagia, on 10/10/2007, -12/+6AHHAHa Fanbois and their delusions.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Yes, your delusions are obviously much more refined
- kstefanick, on 10/10/2007, -11/+3***** heads
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You managed two words which is probably a VAST improvement over what you were capable of before. Maybe you'll work punctuation in someday.
- objectcode, on 10/10/2007, -4/+0bury this pos
- flaminio, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1It's a stupid hidden identifier in the form.
- codehkr, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1iPhone Extreme Firmware v1.2.1.3.4.5.21.3. will brick your iPhone Extreme. Don't unlock it.
- xoineg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4an 3G iphone with WIMAX
- tvon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2This doesn't mean anything. Apple may have some odd product names but they aren't going to re-use "extreme" at this point.
[edit: Otto hit the nail on the head in his previous comment] - Weather, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1Surprise! An iphone article. Do they own this website or are there really that many sheeple?
- thebankshow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Extreme Sports Punk #1: "Dude, that was SO not extreme!" (H&KGtWC)
....how do people have time to look at the source code on pages to find this stuff? - terrible0ne, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1airport extreme
- codehkr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2train station extreme

- RadiatedAnt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1When I start working in a major company and coding html, im going to insert comments such as "note: to the bloggers out there, if you reading this, you have no girlfriend and are over weight."
- likwidfuzion, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No need to describe yourself.
- SiNN4R, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1You people are obsessive.
- indiefan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1hmmm, someone was trying to "interface" with apple's feedback form...
- seandaly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1ZOMFG! We found it hidden in the HTML codes! It must be Steve Jobs telling us that the next super iFone Extreme touchypod is coming soon! Where can I get one?!?!?! What are the specs? How many megs of gigaram will it have?
***** people! - viveros, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0This sure sounds like someone needs to get a life.
- ForbesBingley, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What we do know is, Apple are very deliberate and quite meticulous in their wording of things, if not their launch schedule. And yes, Extreme has been used before by Apple, notably for their wireless products.
Might we be seeing an iPhone that works off the landline or VoIP when in the home?- seandaly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You're on crack!!! AT&T would give birth to a fuzzy animal! They'd go completely *****! Apple would get sued.
That said, I'd LOVE if it could do VOIP over 802.X!
- seandaly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You're on crack!!! AT&T would give birth to a fuzzy animal! They'd go completely *****! Apple would get sued.
- seandaly, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2And, it took 3 hours to make it to the front page and only 3 minutes for the rest of the world to bury it!
Goes to show that the Digg algorithm REALLY favors apple *****. I mean, this one was USELESS and still made the front page. - trylleklovn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Update: The "iPhone Extreme" reference was simply a sloppy copy-and-paste job on the part of an Apple webmaster who apparently used the company's existing AirPort Extreme feedback form in creating one for the iPhone.
- Otto, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Thanks, but I said that two days ago. We know already.
