- JoCliMe, on 10/11/2007, -5/+66I was hoping it would take longer, as most ads shorten things down...but congratulations Apple, well done I must say, glad to see some people are still honest in the advertising world.
- zapatar, on 10/11/2007, -11/+69When does the iPhone come out?
- staxofmax, on 10/11/2007, -14/+51Enjoying the $600 dollars they still have in their bank accounts, I'm sure.
- DeeX, on 10/11/2007, -18/+44Digg has a Video Section.
- mentor972, on 10/11/2007, -6/+32Wow, a positive iPhone article. I love mine. I'll never go back.
- chainz, on 10/11/2007, -5/+27Good one from Cnet.As usual..Using wi-fi I'm sure
- havokzero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20http://www.cnettv.com/8301-13415_53-9739388-11.html
- Scheissenegger, on 10/11/2007, -4/+22cnet also has a video section
I even heard youtube had a video section
....... * idea
let's start a picture section! - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+22relatively instantaneous on my iphone...
- Hardcore41, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20Its an Apple Story so its in the Apple section.
- greg88, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13wow works just as fast as the commercial, only internet was a tad bit slower. Well this seals it, I will get an iPhone
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10ok, this ant-iphone stuff on digg is getting a little mean and unnecessary. if you dont care about iphone that is completely fine, just opt out of apple news in your profile and you wont be bothered.
- wevegotthejazz, on 10/11/2007, -8/+16the iPhone is definitely the quickest smartphone I've ever used
now if only we could use that speed with 3rd party apps :( - cambrown99, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11And this is just the FIRST version. Imagine what the 2nd Gen iPhone will be like (by then I might be able to afford one)
- Me1000, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9maps is pretty fast on edge,
- Fourbin, on 10/11/2007, -5/+12It works exactly the same. If that douche wasn't so slow at figuring out which things to hit with his finger and having panic attacks maybe he would have been completely in sync.
- compgeek7889, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8thanx 4 killing cnettv.com now i cant watch cnet live
- DavX, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Uhh... so it's fair to show off "the internet" as a cached version? I don't have a problem with apple's commercials, but how does this guy "not know his *****" for that? I'd expect the commercial to have it cached, but I wouldn't expect him to, do you normally only visit the cached pages? Exactly.
So yes, it is just you that gets pissed off about this. This was an extremely fair comparison, IMO. (and I'm not even a heavy iPhone supporter, I don't want one) - Me1000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6depends on album art size, and the number of albums!
- captainchris, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9iPhone Ads: TV versus real time (Video)
Cnet follows in sync with the iphone commercials with the real deal. - ToadLeg, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10How does this keep getting diggs when the site won't even load???
- rauz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Only if you want it to.
- crushfan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6We'll all die after all. You're right. But I need to ask you this: Do you REALLY want to live with thinking this?
- totorototoro, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Google Maps, even step by step directions, are decent over EDGE. The satellite stuff is slow though.
Youtube on the other hand, is not only slow, but they degrade the video too much to be of much use in most cases. For example, the skateboarding dog looks great over wi-fi, but over EDGE it is very artifacted. - P5ycHo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Don't bother commenting. He just can't afford one.
- eridius, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7I don't think I've ever replaced a cell phone battery yet, so this seems like a non-issue.
- tastycheese, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Gizmodo tested the YouTube ad over EDGE and it was just as fast as the commercial. (although they say it looks like the video quality was slightly turned down).
http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/skateboarding-dog/apple-iphone-ad-surprised-giz-remake-273901.php - Mikecol, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Full photo manager, widgets for stocks and weather, media browser with music, movies tv shows, and podcasts, Google maps, and full email software.
- Braddeharder, on 10/11/2007, -5/+10The link does not go anywhere. What is up?
- prockcore, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Except that the iPhone version of Safari doesn't cache. Even if you hit the back button, it refetches the page.
- Me1000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4^ yeah, material goods hold the same value as money, that is why you buy them!
- Urusai, on 10/11/2007, -8/+12I don't hate the iPhone, I hate the iSycophants.
- eridius, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7It is? Most of my Google Maps and YouTubing so far have been on WiFi.
- jdillingham, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Pretty cool idea for a story, and it does stack up nicely against the commercial.
- theduke25, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The iPhone really is amazingly responsive, I've played with my friends and its awesome
- DaffyDuck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Don't you feel poor for acting like $600 is a huge sum of money?
- antdude, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4What Digg needs is being able to select multiple categories. So, Apple, video, and gadgets?
- piwy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Some people don't like iPhone stories, or any apple related stories for that mater. So putting this in the apple section is the best thing. Less people bitchin'.
- cliffr39, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Then don't open the article here... it's clearly labled iPhone so you can skip it if you "dont care"
some of us DO care (since they sold around 700,000 in a weekend) - crushfan, on 10/11/2007, -6/+7Cancelled :(
- ibis, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Deleted. How about an actual delete button digg?
- Quix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"Don't you feel like a dweeb for buying a $600 phone?"
I'll feel a lot better than I felt paying $100 for my Sony T610 and hating every single second using it for the past 3 years. - Me1000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2then why did you click the link?
- Firehed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I didn't bother checking the thing in the article, but just about everything on my iPhone has been instantaneous. There's been the odd exception (on a couple websites, digg being one of them, the keyboard is extremely laggy - I think due to some bizarre AJAX interaction), but by and large, I wish that the computers I use could be as responsive as my iPhone.
- computergod, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=5410522621618801386
- rauz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3This one worked!
- DaleoftheUK, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3It's an iphone topic, it can go where it wants, it's not limited to certain sections!
- Katana314, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I know! I was thinking the same thing! How the f*** did NO ONE else notice this! Or did they just read the article and post "iPhone yay"
- BGraceTFaith, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Not to mention the software updates which I'm sure are in the works for a side by side Leopard experience.
- mediaphile, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2my macbook has tons of 3rd party apps, and it's still just as snappy. it's all about efficient program memory use.
