- slowspin, on 06/18/2009, -5/+49iPhone 3.0 OS: Available 6-17-09 at 12:00 PM.
Jailbroken version available 6-17-09 at 12:02 PM. - jrm125, on 06/18/2009, -0/+23If only more businesses were run with the efficiency of the hacking community.
- mrBitch, on 06/18/2009, -0/+20Yes, it's a common mistake.
Jailbreak = allow cydia & cracked app installs.
Unlock = allow iPhone to work on unsupported carrier network. - LucasHenderson, on 06/18/2009, -0/+16I wouldn't be surprised if Apple is intentionally leaving in loopholes to jailbreak it. Jailbreakers probably represent enough of a portion of their userbase for it to be slightly profitable.

+ 3rd party apps
+ sync music/video/etc with other apps - not forcing you to use the piece of ***** that is iTunes
(well it worked on firmware 2 - so hoping)
+ lots and lots of themes - jonnyeh, on 06/18/2009, -0/+12I'm pretty sure the jailbreak isn't available yet for 3.0
They're supposedly still doing testing: http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ - superdoug, on 06/18/2009, -5/+15Another msaleem dupe? buried.
- chopeh, on 06/18/2009, -1/+8Link = Trojan.
- Agret, on 06/18/2009, -1/+7Jailbreaking and unlocking aren't the same thing.
- Amirshareh, on 06/18/2009, -0/+6Thank You :D
- techdever, on 06/18/2009, -0/+5Don't feed the trolls, just bury idiots like Standachance and move on
- ProjectGSX, on 06/18/2009, -1/+6Welcome to 2 days ago.
- xsecretfiles, on 06/18/2009, -2/+6Come on Dev Team release the jailbrake for 2g phones already!!!
- MiDri, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3Backgrounder for pandora...
- jonnyeh, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3I was a big fan of SBSettings. Allowed you to turn of wifi, 3G, autolock, start ipod, etc. from any app at any time. I miss it already :(
- paulsmith288, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3its all in the marketing.
No jailbreak = less talk about iphone in the tech media.
Now the iphone has a solid base - I expect apple to get *****. - MOJIRA, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3Unlocked for all GSM carriers or just Jailbroken to run Cydia and/or Installer?
- LuisCypher, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3Your kidding right ?
I put an article on my site called "What i-Phone 3GS Functions can you get on the older models"
400 views in 12 hours, I don't usually get that many visitors in a week.
Felt like I had a real site for a day :)
I think most people who want a bit of flexability jailbreak their phones. Some might do it just to "take ownership and control" of a device they have purchased. - JMCtg, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3Common misconception my friend. Link is not, as a matter of fact, one of the legendary Greek Trojans. Link is a Hylian boy from the besieged land of Hyrule.
I sincerely hope your admonition that Link was a Trojan was simply in jest. If not, I expect a full written apology, signed and dated, by tomorrow eve. - FluffyArmada, on 06/18/2009, -2/+5Well. I guess wanting to use SSH from my phone makes me really stupid... especially when it only takes about 5 minutes to do.
Yep. I'm an idiot. - swmbuk, on 06/18/2009, -1/+3It's too bad no one willing to give this a chance, it is for real. Check the Mac Rumors forums, they have tons of threads on this atm.
- mrBitch, on 06/18/2009, -1/+3Thanks, that looks like an awesome resource, and even has iPhone Tether & MMS settings for AUS :
http://bit.ly/iphoneTetherMMS - coadyj, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2i hear the 3gs also uses the same baseband, so if they can jailbreak it, it should be unlocked very soon
- megamod, on 06/18/2009, -1/+3Of course they had the GM since the 10th. All they had to do was check that they didn't patch the exploit in the final version.
- adriaaan, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2Actually, they didn't change the final version at all, MD5 matches when compared to the GM release.
- darwinwin, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2I know this may be a stupid question but has anyone ever managed to unlock the phone and in the end use AT&T network with a different sim card? I ask this because I have AT&T and I dont want to enter their contract so would want to unlock & jailbreak the phone and then use it on the same network with my old simcard.
- MiDri, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2You used to be able to pop prepaid cards in it, but you have to be careful you'll kill your self with data usage.
- likwidfuzion, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2That's cause they reuse the same exploits from previous firmwares.
- Legolover64, on 06/19/2009, -0/+1Really? I think it's the handful of idiots who think jailbreaking your iPhone doesn't have a point. I'll go ahead and enjoy tons of features you'd have to pay Apple to get, and some that Apple will probably never give you.
- Legolover64, on 06/19/2009, -0/+1Cycorder, SBSettings, QuickGold (more powerful than Spotlight) and Poof all make the jailbreak worth it.
- Elranzer, on 06/18/2009, -1/+2These days, all you can hope for are submissions by msaleem, chris1234, upick and of course MBM.
- BRODEL, on 06/18/2009, -2/+3On this 3.0 update I "un-jailbroke" my iPhone. Other than the cool themes and a few customization options, I didn't use much of the features that jailbreaking gave me. Then I got Skype and it complained about running on an unsupported version of the iPhone OS (or some message like that). Are there still any real good reasons to jailbreak it?
The only thing I see myself missing is cyrecorder. - jeffmon, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1I liked Haptic Pro and Intelliscreen.
- chopeh, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1He has got you well and truly fooled, Link is a Trojan.
- UKeTommyV, on 06/18/2009, -2/+3Man, this hackers are nuts!!. they crack this stuff as fast as walnuts. keep it up :)

- beachtrader, on 06/18/2009, -2/+2It may not be available, but if you watched the video the 3.0 phone he was using was jailbroken. He even mentioned it. So, its out there working now, probably just tidying up a bit.
- coadyj, on 06/18/2009, -2/+1mewseek, poof, launchers, sbsettings, backgrounder, categories, a good flashlight..............
- JakePT, on 06/18/2009, -6/+3I didn't write the headline...

lowering the bar for consumer goods worldwide.
damn yuppies - swmbuk, on 06/17/2009, -14/+7If you are running 3.0, I've submitted a way to get tethering without having to jailbreak.

- JakePT, on 06/18/2009, -12/+3Sucks to be American I guess, here in Australia I just called up my carrier and now my phone is unlocked and running 3.0 free of charge.
