- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -1/+199want to know what tipped me off they were fake,
you get a 3g iphone some how, decide to take pics, surely you would take a pic of it while its actually turned on wouldn't you? - ricoboy24, on 05/03/2008, -6/+94iPHONY
- l33tforlif3, on 05/03/2008, -2/+52the pictures look like crap as well. The deformed apple logo doesnt help either.
- MrPig, on 05/03/2008, -0/+47The pixels gave it away for me. The reflections were also messed up.
- phybere, on 05/03/2008, -1/+34I got that SAME EMAIL. It's a SCAM, don't send your info. Just to make sure you haven't already been scammed, send me your bank account numbers and social security numbers so I can run a check on them to make sure you're safe.
- wontstoptalking, on 05/03/2008, -10/+35It looks like a normal iPhone with a black back put together by glue and paper.
- yokozuka, on 05/03/2008, -1/+24Apparently someone did: http://digg.com/apple/Next_gen_iPhone_spotted_in_t ...
I don't know how anyone could even speculate on that pos being real. - WomensUnderwear, on 05/03/2008, -9/+30oh wow thank god someone has alerted me to this. i was about to try and buy one. thank god. praise allah. the internet is wonderful. thank you for this news. great stuff. keep up the good work. now can anyone help me, i have an email from paypal saying they lost my login details could i send them? is this legit? also the nigerian royal family have contacted me, can you believe it! they want me to look after some money, seems like a great great deal
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -2/+22I can't believe anyone thought it was real. It wasn't just ugly. Apple may make things that are kind of ugly sometimes, but they never make things that look cheap - like this did. The only thing I could think is that it looked like a cheap Chinese pirate knockoff.
- TheWorm, on 05/03/2008, -0/+16As a High School student I am offended...I could do MUCH better than that.
- itsbob, on 05/03/2008, -2/+18another candidate for the No ***** category
- sbluetruck, on 05/03/2008, -0/+15the power of the 3G iPhone is the ability to levitate.
you're obviously not keeping up with all the posted digg stories on this are you? - Falldog, on 05/03/2008, -36/+49Ugly? It looks just like a normal iPhone with a black back.
- nightmare1228, on 05/03/2008, -1/+12Second life? lol.
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -2/+13??? not even close...the lines are leftover 90s attempts at "clean;" I do not see Apple Industrial putting out ***** bricks like the one pictured. LOL it looks like it was designed by a high school student
- priegog, on 05/03/2008, -3/+10Haha, I know. I'd love to see this be the real thing and watching people claim it's prettier than ice-cream on a waffle. Fanboyism at its best.

- Twinnie, on 05/03/2008, -1/+6As far as touch-screen phones go I'd say it looks pretty different from the iPhone. No contrasting of colours and tones apart from the white square on the button. The edges of the screen are clearly visible even though the phone's turned off and Apple have used the rounded rectangle look for everything since the first iPod; the curved edges at the top and bottom are just un-Apple. Also the shiny black plastic on the back, I think the only time Apple used that was one the 1st gen iPod Nano.
- sandburn, on 05/03/2008, -6/+11duh, duh, DUH!!!

- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4Did we really need another submission for this?
- optionshiftk, on 05/03/2008, -3/+7The most obvious give away that this so called" 3G iphone"is fake is the use of polycarbonate. Apple is not going to press a new product out of ancient polycarbonate; that trend is over. If there is going to be a new 3G iphone, it will be made of aluminum and glass just like every other product in apple's family.
- RATM4EVER, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4"I don't give a *****, *****, *****!"
-- Tourettes guy - uberamd, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4Did anyone ever believe these were real? Oh wait, tons of people did because some 600 people + dugg the story. Pathetic.
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -1/+5i mean from the original story a couple of days ago, and its repeated 3 times ;-)
and technically its not a sound - inactive, on 05/03/2008, -1/+5Apparently yes, since a thousand people dugg the post in which Spatgadget gave them credibility.
- SirPasta117, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4funny thing is that if Apple did release that all the Apple Fanboys will ***** themselves with delight.
- Kanaka, on 05/03/2008, -1/+5No *****
- lolmax, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4way to ruin it
- Wootstapler, on 05/03/2008, -1/+4Congratz!
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -2/+5Oh well, back to Starbucks.
- psykiv, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3The silver strip on the top of the phone, in the middle, looks exactly like the one on my 8800.
http://www.mobilegazette.com/handsets/blackberry/b ... - KezG, on 05/03/2008, -2/+5A part of me wants this to be real now, just so I can laugh at the use of FAKE in caps...
- ogisdan, on 05/03/2008, -2/+5Anyone with half a brain would have known that those pictures are fake. That thing looks ugly as *****, and I highly doubt apple would release something like that.
- Auntmac, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3Fake or not, something about that hand creeps me out. Looks like a crime scene photo.
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3Frogster!
- Agreb91, on 05/03/2008, -1/+4You can tell they are fake just by looking at the pictures. The Apple logo is way off in the picture.
- MyDiggIsBig, on 05/03/2008, -1/+4the screaming, the panting, the moaning... fake fake, fake fake
- yokozuka, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3No, you are wrong, sorry.
When the nano was published Apple send a C&D to ALL blogs that published. Engadget, Gizmodo, and all the blogs had to take it down, but Gizmodo did an illustration of the fat nano and got away with it. Apple asked to take it down, but they couldn't enforce it because it wasn't their copyrighted material, but Gizmodo's own illustration. You can see it here:
http://digg.com/apple/The_iPod_nano_mock_up_PIC - yokozuka, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3Sadly, Engadget and other blogs gave it credibility. Engadget's post even made it to Digg front page. It was clear it's a photoshop job and just running the photos through Shadows & Highlights shows it. Funnily enough, after Gizmodo called it a fake (still no C&D order, btw), Engadget quickly added a note. Same old, same old. -sigh-
- solidus636, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3The first thing I thought of when looking at the preview was that this thing looks exactly like the Vu from ATT.
- stormbreaker, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3Even if the IS the 3G iPhone (which it's not), don't worry folks.
We all know it looks like ***** and Apple can read. They'd redesign this baby in a heartbeat. - maddonkey, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2thats what i was thinking also
my phone and ipod have less scratches and they are about 2 years old - griz, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3No cease and desist doesn't mean anything. Didn't the "fatboy" nano show up and people were saying the same thing? Ugly and no cease and desist order.
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2RTFA. Nobody got duped. Engadget published and gave it credibility. Gizmodo said it was FAKE.
- hopeast, on 05/03/2008, -4/+6I could tell it was fake just by looking at the shadows.
- PPCG4, on 05/03/2008, -2/+4This looks shopped. I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.
- juicebag, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3I don't think Apple would bother, as they can sell millions of iPhones without putting in more expensive hardware.
- melonade, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3The button looks hideous.
- ucg1, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3Thank you captain obvious. You have to be a moron to believe those are real.
