- JDAWS0N, on 07/19/2008, -2/+15Everyone should not that this tool is only for MAC's not yet out for PCs.
- Dradu, on 07/19/2008, -1/+12Thank you Dev Team!
It only took these guysn 8 days to get it working and tested with a perfect GUI!
For all that want to know what it does:
It will jailbreak and unlock first gen iPhones
It will jailbreak iPod Touch
It will jailbreak but NOT unlock iPhone 3G
Keep up the good work! - Tu13erhead, on 07/19/2008, -2/+9http://thepiratebay.org/tor/4305415/PwnageTool_2.0
- JohnsonGotOwned, on 07/19/2008, -1/+7YES ***** WIN
- Dradu, on 07/20/2008, -0/+6Installer.app currently does not work.
Cydia, another package installer/manager does come with this tool.
All old 3rd party apps like BiteSMS will have to be rewritten for the 2.0 firmware.
And yes, once rewritten, they will all co-exist. - paloooz, on 07/19/2008, -0/+4You stole my avatar you dick!
- kaynesan, on 07/20/2008, -1/+4Since I don't own and never had an iPhone before, excuse this foolish question...
With this, Installer will work again like on the old firmware so I can install unofficial 3rd party apps (like BiteSMS) and it co-exists with the app store without any problems?
Hopefully, I will get my iPhone this week. - jamesg990, on 07/19/2008, -2/+5I bet Apple sells a few more Macs today than the average Sunday.

http://thebigboss.org/repofiles/nonrepo/PwnageTool ... - 4ndr3wk, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3Cant get it to work, it built the firmware, then said cant get iphone into DFU mode or something (without asking or anything, just straight to error) now my iphone is stuck in the connect to itunes recovery mode (reboot takes it straight back to it). also it seems to forget about the custom firmware it built, and loading it manually pwnagetool says its invalid
seems to be really buggy software considering how long theyve worked on it...
back to retail software i guess - Dradu, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3Just an update:
I got my iPhone 3G Jailbroken in about 20 mins with the tool.
Just a few warning to others:
1. If you don't go into Expert mode and change it, your Apple logo at the iPhone's startup will be replaced with the Pwnage Pineapple.
2. In Expert mode, make sure "Activate the phone" is not checked if you're on AT&T, if it is checked, you will not get any service.
3. Installer.app doesn't work for 2.0 yet.
4. 90% of what you can install using Cydia right now are BSD and Developer tools, only thing I found useful was OpenSSH.
5. Almost no apps have been ported to 2.0 yet, there's no huge reason to Jailbreak atm, besides SSH. - smpx, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2Jailbreak means to let you use 3rd party non-official software with it.
Unlock means you can use it on other networks. - vvargoal, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2Alright, who wants to go first?
- incubusbeatsall, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2Just to let everyone know, this tool is only for Macs at the moment. I don't believe the devs have ever released a windows client for it. Also, it will only JAILBREAK the iPhone 3G. It will unlock/jailbreak the 2G.
Many thanks to the dev team! - TomFrost, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2Cheers, stoiclee! That's exactly what I needed :)

If not plug in you 1st gen iphone, restore it to the point where its downloading the ipsw then unplug, once this is completes you can point pwnage to that file. - pinchies, on 07/19/2008, -1/+2It's seems really simple to use, well done devs.
(now for 3G unlock...) - pinchies, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Not bouncing for me - worked fine first time.
- iAMac, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1What I had to do was use the Expert Mode in order for the Pwnage App to recognize that the Phone was ready for DFU mode. I think there might be a bug in the simple mode BTW nice job Dev Team!
- deanau, on 07/19/2008, -1/+2Is it bouncing crazily for anyone else? (and not launching)
- mattzweb, on 07/19/2008, -1/+2That's the old one. We need PwnageTool 2.0
- fender06, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Here's how to put it into DFU mode:
Before you begin, turn on your iPod Touch (make sure it won't auto lock, to prevent mistakes), and connect it to iTunes. Once iTunes shows your device, perform the following steps:
Step 1: Hold down the “Home” button
Step 2: Hold down the “Standby” button
Step 3: When it says “slide to turn off”, ignore it. It should restart with a blank screen. Look at iTunes, and your device should be removed. Now lift the Standby button, while still holding onto the Home button.
Step 4: Keep holding the Home button until the iPod reconnects on iTunes. When the device shows up in iTunes, that’s when you’ll need to lift up your button. If you wait any longer, it will go into Recovery Mode, and that’s not what you want. Your iPod should be blank.
Step 5: Now iTunes will tell you that the iPod Touch is in Recover Mode. You can now perform a manual restore on it. - citadin86, on 07/19/2008, -1/+2wohooo. free at last.
- mediaphile, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Same here, except my iPod Touch never went into recovery mode. Tried three times unsuccessfully, and had to rebuild the firmware each time, which takes forever. Guess we'll just have to wait for an update.
Besides, Cydia is fine and all, but Installer.app is a must. - netneutrality, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1What does it mean to "jailbreak" an iPhone? Lets it work with other networks?
- fender06, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Make sure your iPhone is connected and in the mode where it shows the itunes logo and usb cable before opening the PwnageTool app. Then it should work
- mundofr, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1does anyone knows of a guide for n00bs?
- mediaphile, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Ah, I just didn't realize I needed to manually put it into DFU mode, I thought PwnageTool was doing it automatically for a reason. Thanks for the tip.
- 4ndr3wk, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Got the 2.1 Release, it fixed it.
- miitch, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1That's smart, release a mac version and not a windows version
- TomFrost, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Do you have a link? Everyone seems to have the ipsw that was released early, but I'm having trouble finding a link for the official release for first-gen iPhones.
- mediaphile, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Finally it worked. What I ended up doing was running PwnageTool in Expert mode, and left the ipod connected normally (not in DFU mode). After it built the custom firmware, it then walked me through the DFU process, starting with turning my iPod off. It even has nice little timers that signal you exactly when you need to do each step. It then confirms that you have successfully put your iThing into DFU mode. Worked like a charm. For some reason, this process didn't work in Simple Mode, might be a bug.
- ivorylion, on 07/20/2008, -1/+2Power through the comments on the websites about the tool not working.
I upgraded a 1.1.4 ZIPHONE unlocked classic iPhone to 2.0 in under 30 minutes. The tool works but you will need to download bootloaders 3.9 and 4.6. They can be found in the comments section of the Pwnage blog posted by users. To download the best 2.0 get it from Apple through iTunes.
Enter into DFU mode before running the tool and have your iPhone connected when you run it.
I have a 4gb iPhone classic running 2.0 on T-Mobile so power through the people who say it isn't working and just look for the files to fill in the gaps where people are getting stuck.
It works. - LavaWarrior, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Now hopefully they put all the apps you have to pay for from app store in Installer for free.
- godofpumpkins, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1No, we don't do warez.
- dudup, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1running fine here, but I'm still downloading the IPSW
- BurgerPunch, on 07/20/2008, -0/+0Can this brick an iPod Touch?
The I understand its different to the old 1.1.2 jailbreak which couldn't possibly brick one - Tamant, on 07/19/2008, -2/+2Mirrah!

- yonsantos, on 07/20/2008, -0/+0Downloaded the file, and tried running it, it bounces then stops and doesn't load up anything, any idea why it isn't running properly? Usually apps have an arrow head at the buttom of its icon on the dock when it is running, pwnage 2.0 tool doesn't have it even if it started bouncing and stopped.
HELP!!!! - kyrios23, on 07/20/2008, -0/+0Yes. Found a solution yet?

- Jericon, on 07/19/2008, -4/+3The download link seems a bit overloaded right now. Though I'm sure someone will throw up a torrent or something soon.
