- yokozuka, on 06/25/2008, -4/+30Can't wait for the store.
- wontstoptalking, on 06/25/2008, -7/+31I love...desk! I love....carpet! I love......iPhone!
-Do you really love the iPhone, or are you just looking at things and saying you love them?
I love iPhone! I love iPhone! - akarpo, on 06/25/2008, -2/+25Actually, no.
Steve said "early July". Link the press release. - akarpo, on 06/25/2008, -6/+27Except it won't be available until July 11th.
- dpcamp, on 06/25/2008, -7/+25oh cool! that means it... wait.. that means nothing to me.
- Brimmy, on 06/25/2008, -0/+11The finalized release version of a software, no more betas.
- DesdinovaEL, on 06/25/2008, -1/+11Then why did you read the article and comment?
- BossKey, on 06/25/2008, -1/+11I hope this martial arts flick is as good as the Drunken Master series was. Wait...what?
- superkendall, on 06/25/2008, -8/+17I hate to break it to you, but that's not even an Apple term. You are more ignorant than you thought, at least in scope.
- Vector713, on 06/25/2008, -0/+6I suppose you mean iPod Touch.
there's no such thing as an iTouch. - yokozuka, on 06/25/2008, -0/+5True, the date is July 11th for the public release. Golden master "highly probable" coming on friday, but no to the public.
- HolyChimp, on 06/25/2008, -0/+5An Ubuntu release name would be Golden Gorilla or something like that, but they're already on I, so it'll be Irrepressible Iguana or something...
- xero9, on 06/26/2008, -0/+5I wouldn't call it a downfall, but it is a bit of a limitation. Voice dialing would be very handy when trying to dial a number in the car. The lack of tactile feedback from the phone is only only true complaint of the phone, obviously there's no way around it.
- debuggercll, on 06/25/2008, -0/+5That's gross.
- returnofthemac, on 06/26/2008, -1/+5i hate to sound like a sheep here but- with 3rd party apps available. why jailbreak? I personally enjoy stable and trustable apps on my expensive devices.
I'll be dugg down I'm sure but I'll be ok with that as long as someone gives me some new info I hadn't thought of on this subject. - aristotle0dude, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4So who will you get to screw you instead? What other provider will offer you GSM service with 3G in the US? How do their data plans compare to AT&T? Sprint is CDMA, Virgin is CDMA.
- Vector713, on 06/25/2008, -1/+5Exactly, I love the people who bitch about articles they don't like, especially when there are settings to prevent those articles from even showing up for them.
If you hate apple, uncheck the apple box. Simple as that. - ManIs5, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4But voice dialing seems like it would be easy to fix. And since it's such a common feature on other phones, I was very surprised when I discovered my iPhone wouldn't do it. Since I use the iPhone in the car constantly, the lack of voice dialing is what keeps me from endorsing it when people ask how I like it.
Funny how I'm getting Dugg down by the fanboys. - inactive, on 06/25/2008, -2/+5Yeah i for one am not impressed. , I hope the app store turns out, maybe they will have some decent free apps, i could use MMS and IM
- isalex, on 06/26/2008, -1/+4whateva. just get copy and paste!
- MavRevMatt, on 06/25/2008, -0/+3According to a guy I know on Twitter the 2.0 firmware, which the 3g runs, has already been jailbroken in the developer betas, and he said the finals should follow as well.
- dylio, on 06/25/2008, -0/+3thanks man, I was thinking about getting one, but I wanted to make sure I could jailbreak it.
- gquaglia, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3Assclown, how long did it take MS to come out with Vista? How many versions of OSX came out in that time. Apple has a much better track record with delivery dates then your buddies at microdouche.
- mparker7410, on 06/25/2008, -0/+3No, it will come on a Golden Master.
- SheVibe, on 06/25/2008, -4/+6can't we all just get along.
- ATLien74, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2I would like to invite everyone to the pants party!
- mrBitch, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2I dugg all of you up - iPhone can easily support voice dialing.
If Apple doesn't do it will a 3rd party app take care of this?
Any 3rd party developers out there on this? - darkfus, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Yay. I think they were pretty clear when they said "early July" which of course means sometime on the 11th or thereafter. iPhone 2.0 hardware is probably the quickest path to the new firmware, at least if Apple is smart.
- onClipEvent, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Canada iPhone tidbit news: My cousin works for Fido/Rogers, She told me the $199 iphone will only be offered with a 3 year contract, and the $299 iphone with the 2 year contract. Exact prices are not released yet.
- BrendanSheehan, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2You really contributed greatly to this discussion.
- MavRevMatt, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2All this golden master means is that it's set in stone and finalised. It has nothing to do with the actual release.
- dylio, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2As far as I know, it allows custom backgrounds and sliders. That's the main reason I'd like to do it.
- xero9, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Jailbreak before the iPhone is sort of "jailed" the begin with, as in it's restricted. Or am I completely mistaken. I thought that's what it meant
- robrohan, on 06/25/2008, -1/+3I can't wait for the built in 汉语 input.
- MavRevMatt, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2Here's the guy's website http://u.mavrev.com/6
And the Twitter replies: http://u.mavrev.com/7 http://u.mavrev.com/8
I really do hope he's right, I want to be able to get the best of both worlds. - svenllr, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Apple, or any other software company for that matter, would not release a major update the day before the weekend. With a spike in tech support, Apple will insure it's best engineers, not the weekend help, will be available for those with 2.0 problems. 2.0 will release when the 3G iPhone does, July 11th. Apple does nothing early.
- ghall, on 06/25/2008, -1/+3Oh...they will.
*Prepares for nerdgasm* - nightowl313, on 06/25/2008, -3/+5I love lamp.
- TheSnuffster, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2"Intrepid Ibex" apparently...
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DevelopmentCodeNames - FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1"During the 1990s, Apple Inc. used the term "golden master" for its release candidates, and the final golden master was the general availability release."
wiki wiki - bertdevriese, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2Has this been unlocked yet?
- deadbaby, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Well, AT&T denied vacations for their employees so I wouldn't be surprised if Apple is having their people work extra weekend hours.
- need4speed, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2excellent, firmware 2.0 should be out next week and get jail break before the hardware launch.
- mrBitch, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2Golden Master hits Friday!
- actually Dugg : that DOES sound like a good chop socky film title... - norbiu, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1I restored my Touch hours before WWDC, thinking the update will be available after the announcement. Well, I got ***** and after a few days realized that the Touch is NOTHING without the apps.
- neckaros, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1"Update: for some reason, this morning I saw the original "end of June" release date and copy and pasted that as the release date link, rather than the obvious July 11. My apologies. J."
- returnofthemac, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1I love mamp?
- bsonline, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1It's 6/27 and no update. Buried as inaccurate.
- migitalwarfare, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1Vista, now shut the ***** up
- lupinglade, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1gold master, not golden master
