iPhone 1.1.3 jailbroken, won't be released untill SDK is out watch!
youtube.com — The recent 1.1.3 firmware update has been jailbroken today, thanks to both the Dev- and the Elite Team. They won't release it untill the SDK is out though, in fear of Apple patching it before.

- jdeane, on 01/19/2008, -4/+40Nice.
Though I'm still pissed that they won't release it until the end of February.- Wang, on 01/19/2008, -5/+34No point releasing it only to have apple patch it in the 1.1.4 firmware which will be out shortly (the one most people have been waiting for).
- likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -1/+10Don't know why you're getting buried since what you said is exactly right.
Read the latest post: http://www.hackthatphone.com/113/iphone_informatio ... - timdorr, on 01/19/2008, -6/+11Wait, so they're holding the release to allow us to run third party apps until Apple releases a firmware that allows third party apps? How does that make any sense?
- garbs, on 01/19/2008, -1/+22If the hackers don't expose the hole they used to get in, then (hopefully) Apple won't have it patched in 1.1.4
Do you think Apple is going to support Installer.app and all the free community-driven software? - likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -0/+2If you think Apple is going to open up the platform and make the apps free, then you're sadly mistaken. The ONLY different thing with the SDK for you and I as consumers is that we'll be able to purchase then download digitally signed and encrypted apps by Apple to an iPhone/iPod Touch through iTunes.
- timdorr, on 01/19/2008, -1/+5But what you're suggesting is pure speculation. You state something as a fact when there's no evidence to support your position. Why wouldn't they make development free? Developers have to be able to test their code as they write it, so there's going to be some way to get apps on there without going through a whole uploading/approval process to Apple. And therefore someone should be able to write code to hack into the system however they want and start poking around to find some sort of exploit, or maybe just release that app into the wild.
Besides, Apple could just as easily push out a firmware update that exposes a new jailbreak method. And you had better believe they'll have a 1.1.5 or whatever right after the SDK release, as developers are going to find bugs a lot faster than consumers. Releasing this exploit now doesn't do anything to slow down Apple releasing another fix after that. We've had 5 firmware releases in 7 months. So, waiting nearly 2 months for another firmware update is actually a long time, based on the average release cycle we've seen. They should just release it now. - likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -0/+2Like I said above, to consumers like you and I: http://www.tuaw.com/2008/01/17/the-itunes-iapplica ...
- garbs, on 01/19/2008, -1/+22If the hackers don't expose the hole they used to get in, then (hopefully) Apple won't have it patched in 1.1.4
- diggymow, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1It will be patched, I can't believe that people think it won't. I mean YAY GO L33T HAXOOR DEV TEAM U SOOO U GOT SOOO MUCH MORE SKILLZ THEN TEH APPLE!!!!. That being said they made the jailbreak so they can do whatever they want with it.
- likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -1/+10Don't know why you're getting buried since what you said is exactly right.
- Wang, on 01/19/2008, -5/+34No point releasing it only to have apple patch it in the 1.1.4 firmware which will be out shortly (the one most people have been waiting for).
- spazzcat, on 01/19/2008, -14/+15Why are they holding it until the SDK comes out?
- kee440, on 01/19/2008, -2/+62If they released it before the next update (SDK), then Apple would be able to fix the exploit that the jailbreak uses.
- spazzcat, on 01/19/2008, -3/+2This happens every new version why is this one so different
- xkorbin, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1It shuts out competing low-level apps, at least through one pathway. Even though the SDK inheritly could open up some security holes.
- diggymow, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2Apple dev 1: Hey they jailbroke 1.1.3 I wonder how they did it
Apple dev 2: Probably the media buffer overflow
Apple dev 1: Have we patched that yet?
Apple dev 2: Yeah just yesterday, it's in the next update.
Apple dev 1: Cool
- spazzcat, on 01/19/2008, -3/+2This happens every new version why is this one so different
- kris33, on 01/19/2008, -1/+52Finding new ways to jailbreak it get harder and harder. They don't want to release this now and let Apple fix it before the SDK. They may not even find a new way to jailbreak at all or at a long time.
The 1.1.3 update isn't that a big of a deal anyway. What would you rather want; a jailbroken 1.1.3 with wiggly icons now and a long time of waiting for SDK or a jailbroken SDK at the first day?- xkorbin, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2Dugg for use of term "Wiggly icons"
- kuwan, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1"...or a jailbroken SDK at the first day?"
Ummm, why do you need anything jailbroken after the SDK is released? Once the official SDK is released the main reason for jailbraking will be obsolete. Why would anyone jailbrake their iPhone/iPod Touch so they can install 3rd party apps when they'll be able to install them anyway without jailbraking?- kevincannon, on 01/20/2008, -1/+1It's unlikely that the SDK is going to be a free for all on apps.
Seems more likely that it'll be select apps for sale through the iTunes store. Much like the iPod games on the last generation of iPods.
I'd prefer if Apple opened it up entirely, but early indications suggest that's not the case.
- kevincannon, on 01/20/2008, -1/+1It's unlikely that the SDK is going to be a free for all on apps.
- streak, on 01/19/2008, -23/+2Maybe because 1.1.3 isn't really jailbroken. The video doesn't provide any real proof after all. A better demo would have shown the new Google Maps.
- kris33, on 01/19/2008, -1/+21The two teams have confirmed it is real, so it is.
- Rockmaninoff, on 01/19/2008, -0/+6Are you kidding me? It shows the new Springboard, with wiggly icons and the ability to move them. It also shows Installer.app working fine.
Plenty of proof. Now I can't wait until February.
- dagamer34, on 01/19/2008, -2/+17Wiggling icons means it's 1.1.3. The fact that Installer runs like normal when opened means it's jailbroken.
- Chakat, on 01/19/2008, -0/+4I know one of the guys on the dev team in charge of the reverse engineering. It's always good to have a break up your sleeve so that when they do patch your hole, you can release a new version very quickly. Some of the devs weren't happy with how 1.1.2's jailbreak was released for this very reason.
- Sun.Surfin, on 01/19/2008, -1/+5Er, was 1.1.2 ever even truly jailbroken? The only way I know of for the jailbreak is to downgrade to 1.1.1 and install something to prevent the upgrade from doing something... so it's not like you can just insta-jailbreak 1.1.2. You have to prevent the update from doing things.
- likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -0/+5Not quite. The jailbreak requires 1.1.1 to install OktoPrep. If you're already on 1.1.1, there's no need to downgrade to 1.1.1 (i.e., it's redundant). Once you have OktoPrep installed, you UPDATE in iTunes (not restore, otherwise OktoPrep's modifications are overwritten), use the 1.1.2 jailbreak, and then you're free.
- markwilcox, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1Now you can jailbreak 1.1.2 OTB but only very recently.
- Drood, on 01/19/2008, -11/+4This is why I prefer Slashdot to Digg. On Slashdot, people would immediately understand why they're keeping it to themselves right now. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out.
- markwilcox, on 01/20/2008, -1/+4Why are you here?
- kee440, on 01/19/2008, -2/+62If they released it before the next update (SDK), then Apple would be able to fix the exploit that the jailbreak uses.
- colonels1020, on 01/19/2008, -14/+6Whoopty doo if Apple fixes the exploit. Isn't that what they've been doing with all the firmwares in the past?
It's just stupid to wait a month before releasing it to the public. If it was made by man, it can be hacked by man. :-)- Wang, on 01/19/2008, -1/+12It's getting harder and harder to jailbreak new firmwares, and these guys have put in a lot of effort already. They want to ensure that we can all jailbreak 1.1.4 (1.1.3 isn't that major an update anyhow, best to wait for something worthwhile).
- thesportoflife, on 01/19/2008, -4/+25Can they at least post the 1.1.3 iphone apps so us touch users dont have to pay for them and can use them on 1.1.1/1.1.2
- traphik, on 01/19/2008, -6/+2try http://123locker.com =p
- garbs, on 01/19/2008, -0/+6As far as I can tell, that repository only has 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 apps right now.
- traphik, on 01/19/2008, -1/+3If I'm not mistaken the only one of five news applications that have been updated in 1.1.3 is Maps, the rest are the same.
- garbs, on 01/19/2008, -0/+6As far as I can tell, that repository only has 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 apps right now.
- colonels1020, on 01/19/2008, -14/+1The iPhone apps are firmware dependent, so the 1.1.3 apps wouldnt even run on 1.1.1 or 1.1.2
- likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -1/+8You have absolutely no idea WTF you're talking about. Buried for pure inaccuracy.
- bobbothegrayson, on 01/19/2008, -4/+1It says to only download the apps if you own an iphone?

- craftyguy, on 01/19/2008, -29/+4Actually, this is a win for Apple. I don't believe there is a jailbreak until I see it running on my iPhone.
In other news, craftyguy cures cancer but will not share the cure until someone else also cures cancer as well.- starkruzr, on 01/19/2008, -2/+2Please explain how "this is a win for Apple" followed from anything you just said.
The idea that jailbreaking somehow "hurts" Apple is stupid to begin with. - jordn, on 01/19/2008, -2/+2^^ Caution: Idiocy above.
- xkorbin, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1I think the iPhone dev team is more than credible at this point.
- starkruzr, on 01/19/2008, -2/+2Please explain how "this is a win for Apple" followed from anything you just said.
- seaners, on 01/19/2008, -4/+2considering i upgraded to 1.1.3 and this isn't being released, and i suspect that a 1.1.4 will come out for the SDK that will probs ***** this up

- klax89, on 01/19/2008, -6/+1Yes I agree it is an iPod touch
- theright, on 01/19/2008, -2/+8The firmware is practically identical, save for a few UI differences and a couple of extra applications. The jailbreaking process will be the same on both the iPhone and the iPod touch.
The hacking folk probably use iPod touches over iPhones for obvious reasons - seaners, on 01/19/2008, -4/+2you are are a wise man
i don't think anyone would have noticed that - likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -0/+5The title should say "1.1.3 Firmware" instead since the jailbreak works for either device.
- jdubyah, on 01/19/2008, -2/+3From Zibri's Blog: "1.1.3 Jailbroken ! As I always thought, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. iPhone-elite and the best crew of the first dev-team joined forces (from 1 month). And results are finally coming out of our rotten brains :) 1.1.3 Firmware has been Jailbroken ! Details will follow when the procedure will be trimmed down. At the moment is not something anyone can do." I don't see them holding out until the SDK is released, but then again who knows... http://zibree.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
- nate94gt, on 01/19/2008, -0/+1As I post this from my jailbroken iPhone, this is actually a stellar idea. It sucks to have to wait a month to put the new release on my phone but if it slows apples patch then I'm all for it
- xekonic, on 01/19/2008, -1/+8Should still be valid even if it's an ipod touch, I believe.
- jersey, on 01/19/2008, -1/+4I want that damn contacts app on my phone springboard.
/ loser that wont jailbreak /- goodluck4287, on 01/20/2008, -0/+0Why don't you just go to Customize and display it (assuming you have something other than 1.1.3)?
- lostngone, on 01/19/2008, -8/+8Huh?!? Then why would we care about jailbreaking 1.1.3? Because Apple will most likely release 1.1.4 when the SDK is released and we can only assume that 1.1.4 will allow 3rd-party apps to be installed so there would be no need to jailbreak it in the first place.
- DaniT, on 01/19/2008, -1/+3They won't let any 3rd party app run, just the ones "signed" by apple (which may not be free[as in free beer]). That's why we will still need the jailbreak.
- likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -0/+1SDK does not necessarily mean Apple is opening up the platform. The way applications will be distributed will most likely be the way iPod Touch's $20 January update is. If you want more detailed information, read Erica Sadun's blog: http://www.tuaw.com/2008/01/17/the-itunes-iapplica ...
Jailbreak will allow for free and open source third-party apps. - ksong12, on 01/19/2008, -0/+1Well, those 3rd party apps will have to be verified by Apple, slowing down the process, and allowing less apps to get through.
Plus, don't forget that many of them you will have to PAY for! - skidooer, on 01/19/2008, -0/+1I think it's pretty safe to say that 3rd-party apps will not work as we want them too. At very least those who don't want to pay $20 will need the jailbreaking ability on the iPod Touch.
- CHeeZePLeaZe, on 01/19/2008, -10/+0guys there releasing an SDK.. YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY
guys you dont need the SDK.. YAAAAAAAAAAAAY - KingChronic, on 01/19/2008, -1/+17Yeah, I saw this this morning when it came out. It is BS in my opinion because now that they announced that they found a way to jailbreak, Apple will have a field day hunting for bugs in it. They should have just kept quiet and announced it when the SDK official firmware was released. Plus, we don't need the SDK. Those apps will run in user mode (mobile) anyway and you will be able to do much less. With our current apps running at the top (root), we can do a lot more.
Just my $0.02- amneosis, on 01/19/2008, -2/+1You make 2 points, one is wrong and one is right. You negated yourself.
- debtman7, on 01/19/2008, -0/+0I doubt this is going to help apple find the bug. Obviously they have no clue it's there since it was possible to do this. Knowing that it can be done might make them start looking a bit harder, but without any idea of what they're looking for it's not too likely they'll close the hole.
I'd be much more concerned about the fact that something like this seems quite likely to leak out, thus apple would be able to see what they are doing.
- duddy, on 01/19/2008, -13/+2I'm going to stop following this jail breaking crap. It doesn't add anything useful and is more of a pain than it's worth.
Guys, just buy some iTunes cards, and wait until the SDK is released.- PDAIsAOk, on 01/19/2008, -1/+10Spoken like a true Apple employee. Jail breaking adds a lot of usefulness to the iPhone, don't diminish the efforts of all of those programmers out there making free add ons for us.
- antiorblkflag9, on 01/19/2008, -0/+5Jailbreaking has been extremely useful and entertaining. The only reason that Apple is releasing the SDK is because they know people will jailbreak them anyways.
- sukimashita, on 01/19/2008, -0/+1Only got the device for the reason that it had this "jail breaking crap" and allows me to run something useful on it.
- BryanJK, on 01/19/2008, -0/+1I think its quite useful, such as my favorite apps: Flashlight, Converter, Last.fm, Dictionaries, Native Games, and (free) iPhone apps.
- Drood, on 01/19/2008, -0/+1I'm sorry, but "more pain that it's worth"? I did it this week. I downgraded to 1.1.1 (and really, the difference with 1.1.2 was minor bug fixes and a fix for the exploit that allowed the jailbreak.) I then went to jailbreakme.com and voila. That was it. Yeah, so much pain... Now I have the apps Apple are gouging users for, a whole slew of other useful stuff. Ebook reader, wifi toggle (rather than digging into the menus to turn it off)... In short the device is far more useful and interesting than it was. Today I'm going to be slinging Perl and Python on there, as well as a web server.
- angrycat, on 01/19/2008, -2/+46Rumor is if you get a cat to open safari with his nose it automatically jailbreaks the ipod.
- royall64, on 01/19/2008, -0/+5Your cache has to be cleared first.

- cantabro, on 01/20/2008, -0/+3failed

- Vandessa, on 01/19/2008, -1/+12So is the SDK really that uber of a thing? Yes, you can write apps for the iPhone but doesn't it still have to be apple certified to be usable (legitly)?
- eatrains, on 01/19/2008, -1/+1No one knows and no one will know until Apple releases the information. The only people who have been saying that are Apple haters and FUD spreaders.
- likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -0/+1http://www.tuaw.com/2008/01/17/the-itunes-iapplica ...
Yes it HAS to be encrypted by Apple for distribution.- kris33, on 01/19/2008, -0/+1"by Apple" may as well mean "by iTunes", and that wouldn't be much of a problem.
- likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -0/+1http://www.tuaw.com/2008/01/17/the-itunes-iapplica ...
- Rustymetal, on 01/19/2008, -2/+2Yes. But not if we have jailbreak on SDK. which is why Dev-Team is doing the right thing in trying to hold 1.1.3 jailbrake
- eyesmell, on 01/19/2008, -0/+2Dugg for 'that uber of a thing'
- eatrains, on 01/19/2008, -1/+1No one knows and no one will know until Apple releases the information. The only people who have been saying that are Apple haters and FUD spreaders.
- Weip, on 01/19/2008, -3/+45Breaking news :
Apple won't release the SDK before hacker release jailbreak 1.1.3, so we gonna wait forever!!!!! DHaAAAAAAAAAAA- Corvillus, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2Apple already said they would release the SDK sometime in February. I don't think that's too long to wait for hacked iPhone users to get wiggly icons and a better Google Maps. As a user of an unlocked iPhone, I'm glad that they're choosing to be more strategic with this release instead of wasting an exploit on a minor update. SDK next month > wiggly icons now.
- ardeay, on 01/19/2008, -2/+3now i wont need to use customize to order my icons HOMG!
Thank you dev guys you make my life easier and application heavy! - noots, on 01/19/2008, -11/+3anyone else getting annoyed with the term "jailbreak"? it's like apple users have to create terms to identify themselves from the "less superior" masses. Airport, and Time capsule also come to mind.
- tian2992, on 01/19/2008, -0/+10Jailbreak is because of the technical term of locking that Apple used; Google It.
- bilious, on 01/20/2008, -0/+3Jail is a unix term to specify a method of separating processes in an operating system. The user accessible side is supposed to be "jailed" away from the subsystem. Jailbreak allows access to this subsystem. The term has been in use for a long time.
- ewcost, on 01/19/2008, -1/+6Why does know one understand that their videos would be much easier to watch if they put their camera on a tripod or table and set the exposure/focus correctly on their camera!

- kinglenster, on 01/19/2008, -7/+2Isn't that an iPod Touch?
- likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -1/+3Yes, the title is inaccurate, but since the iPod Touch shares the same platform as the iPhone, it doesn't make a difference.
- itchytooth, on 01/19/2008, -3/+1That's good enough for me, I'm updating to 1.1.3 now. I can do without 3rd party apps for a month.
- likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -0/+6Don't jump the shark just yet. You'll be screwed if the jailbreak requires an older firmware...
- itchytooth, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1Oh, good point.
- DerekJ212, on 01/20/2008, -2/+1It is very easy to downgrade to another firmware through the Restore function, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
- xkorbin, on 01/20/2008, -1/+1Sometimes.
- likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -0/+6Don't jump the shark just yet. You'll be screwed if the jailbreak requires an older firmware...
- tejas57, on 01/19/2008, -10/+3i call *****. why else would they hold it off till the SDK if it wasn't crap? sounds like they are taking the credit for being 1st, than buying time to do the actual jailbreak.
- likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -2/+1It is real.
http://www.hackthatphone.com/113/iphone_informatio ...
- likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -2/+1It is real.
- fiftyeggs, on 01/19/2008, -8/+3I'm starting to think that Apple might charge iPhone owners for the 1.1.4 update. They did the same to the iPod Touch, and they haven't even promised an SDK for it. an SDK will release a flood of apps for the iPhone, and make the device considerably valuable. Given the current trend at Apple, i wouldn't be surprised if they do charge $20.00 for an iPhone SDK compatible update that allows you to install programs. That is unless they charge for each app. There is much Apple can learn from Google.
- sukimashita, on 01/19/2008, -0/+1Additionally, one can bet their horseranch that there we will see signed applications similar to the Symbian Signed process running in user mode. Fortunately, the more lock-in, the more the device is going to be hacked.
- zetsurin, on 01/19/2008, -0/+1True, however this is where a jailbreak becomes all the more important as this signature verification can potentially be hacked out.
- rufo, on 01/19/2008, -1/+5The reason they charge $20 for the iPod touch upgrade is because Apple didn't count the revenue from iPod touches as subscription revenue, which means they can't add major features and functionality without charging for it under Sarbanes-Oxley. (This is subject for debate, but they aren't taking any chances after the SEC investigation they went through.)
The iPhone and AppleTV are subscription revenue, which allows Apple to add functionality whenever they want. - likwidfuzion, on 01/19/2008, -0/+5They can and probably will make the firmware updates for free like they always have. But, they can and will (as history tells us) charge for just the apps, which they already started doing with the iPod Touch.
- netwonder, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1I agree Apple will sale Apps from iTunes for both the iPhone & iPod Touch. If people think they will open up both products to be used like smalls computers you can install whatever you like keep on dreaming. This thing is a money maker they will milk it anyway possible.
- Haecceity, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1There's no charge for 1.1.3 on the Touch -- it's the apps they're charging for.
- rworne, on 01/20/2008, -0/+0The apps are already there in 1.1.3. What you by for $20 is an 8KB file that allows them to appear on the desktop.

- sukimashita, on 01/19/2008, -0/+1Additionally, one can bet their horseranch that there we will see signed applications similar to the Symbian Signed process running in user mode. Fortunately, the more lock-in, the more the device is going to be hacked.
- MrEcho, on 01/19/2008, -1/+5For someone that just got an iPhone an hour ago this makes me a very happy person!
- Scorp888, on 01/19/2008, -8/+2I call *****, look at the video, it's an Ipod TOUCH, not an Iphone!
- ppilatee, on 01/19/2008, -0/+2You're an idiot. It's the same firmware, and jailbreak != unlocked.
- zetsurin, on 01/19/2008, -1/+1For those saying they are pissed that they aren't releasing until the end of Feb, are you insane? Are you willing to potentially lose (for some time at least) the ability to take advantage of the official SDK just so you can have a couple of superficial features available to you that you can do anyway with a few apps readily available via Installer?!
- joeycerone, on 01/19/2008, -4/+2I'd love to use a jailbroken 1.1.3 until the SDK is released, then I'll be using a non-jailbroken phone from here on out. I'm sure that all the good apps will be released for free using the SDK anyways. Everything I use 3rd party apps for will be allowed by Apple through the SDK.
- markwilcox, on 01/20/2008, -0/+4Lol, if you think all the good apps are going to be free then be prepared to be disappointed.
- lsmaster, on 01/19/2008, -6/+1Are you kidding me?? This is and iPod guys. It is not the same framework.
- kavendano14, on 01/20/2008, -0/+3yes it is
- Haecceity, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1The same hacks are used for both the iPhone and the iPod touch.
- bilious, on 01/20/2008, -3/+2For anybody calling BS on this video, because it is an iPod and not an iPhone - you're quite wrong. For all of the previous firmware revisions, the method for jailbreaking has been the same for both the iPhone and iPod touch. The iPod Touch and iPhone run the same OS, and have Unix jails set in the same way, thus the method for jailbreaking is identical. Unlocking (allowing any carrier's SIM to be used) is obviously a different matter, and is applicable only to the iPhone. Jailbreaking makes unlocking possible, but they are different things.
Effectively: If an iPod Touch is jailbroken, the iPhone is. - SonOfKrypton, on 01/20/2008, -4/+6THANK YOU! No, not for the Jailbreak, but for whoever thought of DELAYING IT until Apple releases 1.1.4 with the SDK. Pure GENIUS man. Don't release it now and let Apple fix whatever hole it exploits in 1.1.4, denying us "Installer.app" applications if their version of installing apps sucks. Just wait till 1.1.4 drops, then we can have our cake and eat it too....PLEASE, do NOT let this leak. Put it in a 256 bit AES encrypted folder and lock it away for the next month. THANKS so much
- Haecceity, on 01/20/2008, -1/+2Fantastic news. I love my jailbroken iPod Touch. Running Apple's official software is as entertaining as watching a one-legged tap dancer.
- damnyooneek, on 01/20/2008, -3/+2essentially apple should know their software and know how its being jailbroken and correct that. big cat and mouse game
- joeycerone, on 01/20/2008, -1/+1they should let us download the new sms and maps apps to our 1.1.2 phones.
- lifeinaframe, on 01/20/2008, -5/+0it's funny, every other update and jailbreak has been posted to everyone! why would they not do it now? I think this claim of a jailbroken 1.1.3 iphone is bogus! I would like to see a video of something more than an installer app with NO APPS IN IT!
and they are also not giving the jailbreak out til the SDK BECAUSE THEY DON"T HAVE ONE, and when apple releases the SDK then they can use that software to claim it is the jailbreak.
this is ridiculous!- Fadakar, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1I hope you know you're retarded.
- xkorbin, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1I'll say it again, the dev team is more than credible. Why do they need to release a fake video to please some group of fanboys that might care? It's pointless. They have better things to do with their time. I personally know Sam (owner of the dev team's servers), they don't have time for this.
"Use that software to claim it is the jailbreak" -- A sandboxed application wouldn't be considered a jailbreak, but of course, the SDK might open a few holes, but, if they've already found one, I don't see why they would use the "SDK..." or even plan to find a hole in it for that matter.
Your whole damn statement is messed up, and I'm confused now. Hope you're happy.
- xNav, on 01/20/2008, -2/+1Updating to 1.1.3 will kill your iPhone, if u r not at&t customer. downgrading then is impossible yet.
- dagamer34, on 01/20/2008, -0/+3In case your brain checked out, it is unlikely that you will be able to run the kind of software needed to unlock a phone using Apple's "official" 3rd party SDK and libraries. Thus, it's best to wait for the SDK to come out before unleashing this on the community.
- DIGGADEEP, on 01/20/2008, -3/+1nice, i have the same webclip icon for a website i call 'installer'...
- diggymow, on 01/20/2008, -1/+1Do you really think Apple won't patch it anyway? Really? You mean the numerous, perhaps hundreds of people working full time and getting paid for it won't find and patch in weeks something it took a few unpaid 'l33t hackers' a few days to find. Yeah, sure. My mind hurts.
- zetsurin, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1There's always a CHANCE that they won't find the same flaws, but there is a GUARANTEED chance that they will find the flaw IF WE TELL them! You'd have to be a moron not to realise that. I'd prefer to wait and take the chance and the worst case is that I had to wait a month to get a jailbroken 1.1.3 BIG ***** DEAL.
- Gregnog, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2While you are all bickering about 1.1.3 and the SDK I'm enjoying my free of charge iPhone apps on a 1.1.1 iPod Touch. Check it out yoz http://youtube.com/watch?v=K2-Zi-6HpFI

shameless plug :) - Girrelephants, on 01/21/2008, -0/+0I am going to ask, could I at least get a copy of Safari.app, Maps.app, MobileMusicPlayer.app, MobileStore.app as well as MobileSMS.app...if I can not have the full update/jailbreak yet, I could at least use the new programs.
- boldt, on 01/21/2008, -0/+1Apple should be employing these hackers, and not trying to fight them.
- teeefa, on 02/06/2008, -0/+0plz anyone help me , i have now my iphone with baseband 04.03.13 and bootloader 4.6 , if this jailbreak ( when release ) will solve my problem ? plz i need anyone to answer my question or help me :'(
