- solarisom, on 11/14/2007, -0/+13Updates include:
- TIFF Exploit patched (JailBreakMe.com no longer works).
- International keyboards
- Custom Ringtone section, iToner and iPhoneRingToneMaker continue to work. - MrSarcasm, on 11/14/2007, -3/+14Now all we need to do is wait for kevin kevin rose to see this, then take the garden hose, upgrade his hacked iPhone and rant on diggnation: "I DIDN"T KNOW IT WAS GOING TO BREAK awww maaaaaaaaaaannn"
- acidbathfan, on 11/14/2007, -0/+9I just got a iphone today and I love it.
- gllopc, on 11/13/2007, -1/+9I'll upgrade because I have nothing to lose! Ahhh.. the beauty of a locked iPhone. Oh, wait...
- odiego, on 11/13/2007, -1/+7How long 'till jailbreak? Oh wait..!
- DarkDx, on 11/13/2007, -0/+5Actually it's not jailbreaked, 1.1.2 updated phones are jailbreaked but you can't jailbreak any OUT OF THE BOX 1.1.2 iphone.
- joerod, on 11/13/2007, -1/+5why does apple refuse to let me text more then one person at a time still?
- luma, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4here: http://ericasadun.com/ftp/Applications/VoiceNotes/
- hansonc, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4just like the previous version:
IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T UPGRADE. - DarkDx, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4I hope this gets the dev team/other hackers to work faster to get an out of the box 1.1.2 hack.
- macpro2006, on 11/13/2007, -3/+6Im not going to update. Sorry Apple
- Scheissenegger, on 11/14/2007, -5/+8to prevent stupid questions:
1. If you have an unlocked 1.1.1, DO NOT UPDATE
2. If you bought an 1.1.2 you'll have to downgrade to use it, sim-unlocked.
3. If you want to laugh: http://iphone.thefreesuite.com - MxM111, on 11/13/2007, -1/+4You are excused.
Apple. - quaxon, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3if i have a jailbroken phone (not unlocked) and upgrade will it still be jailbroken, will it brick, or will it upgrade and not be jailbroken anymore?
- iamdb, on 03/26/2008, -0/+2It's really not a big deal. If you're phone is already jailbroken on 1.1.1 you just install an app that preps the phone, update the phone through itunes and then run the GUI jailbreaker. That's all it is. If you're phone is 1.1.2 already, then you have more work ahead of you because you have to downgrade first.
- gllopc, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2It looks like the update fixes the caps lock remaining on when you simply shift once, when entering an ID/password on a secure site.
- rwallen, on 11/13/2007, -1/+3There is no reason to update other that to avoid iTunes bitching at me.
- luchid, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2Dugg for the expression "anal retentive"
/an anal retentive. - HolyChimp, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2Maybe they just couldn't think of a good way to make multiple recipients work with the ichat style interface?
- TheMidnight, on 11/13/2007, -1/+2About freaking time.
- CowboyBebop, on 11/13/2007, -1/+2Yes it will not be jailbroken anymore. There is a way to do it. It's convoluted and not GUI despite the claims. Check tuaw.com for more details. I did it and it was a bit of a pain. Frankly, I wouldn't bother unless you're anal retentive like me and insist on always having the latest updates.
- Chow7, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1you can upgrade a 1.1.1 unlocked phone to 1.1.2 with the guide found here:

http://nitinblog.com/iphone/discover-best-iphone-d ... - gllopc, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1It could have something to do with AT&T trying to prevent the number of text messages being sent from their network, until the network can handle all of the new iPhone/AT&T users. That's the only thing I can think of, though. Otherwise, it should be a feature.
- inactive, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1it's so-so until you unlock it, IMO.
- bigsteve, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1Yea, I'd like to think that there's a better reason besides "we forgot" or "screw you." It's really unlike Apple's UI guys to overlook something so braindead.
- Mizzike, on 11/14/2007, -0/+1Apple made a deal with the Devil. Can't really think of any other reason than that, really.
- kkiran, on 11/14/2007, -0/+1Hmmm, only iTunes activated iPhones - meaning 2 yr contract iPhones only work :( Waiting for INdependence to take over yet again!!
- LaughingBovine, on 11/14/2007, -0/+1Smash Brothers, iPhone SDK, new ultraportable Mac
Christmas in February - planetbeing, on 11/17/2007, -0/+1@Scheissenegger: If you used AnySIM 1.1 (and not an earlier version), it's safe to update: You'll just lose your unlock. You can re-unlock it later, though. I do recommend backing up your seczone (or entire NOR as I have) as soon as possible in any event. With the backup, you can basically recover from anything.
@DarkDx: Actually, that's incorrect. You can jailbreak and activate out of the box 1.1.2 iPhones fine (you'll have to manually downgrade to 1.1.1 first). You just can't unlock them (yet). - digthedug, on 11/16/2007, -0/+0Also the renaming M4R ringtone trick now works with the latest version of iTunes/iPhone firmware.
- mserna23, on 11/13/2007, -1/+1Why can't Apple supply a firmware upgrade with an additional new feature instead of taking away more 3rd party apps. It's like saying, "Okay, we have removed the option to install 3rd party apps, but we will add a to do list or enable games on the iPhone." iPhone fans are in for a long wait for February 08.
- chesscat, on 11/13/2007, -3/+2Keeps getting better with each update.
- h3smith, on 11/14/2007, -3/+2blah, give me something tangible. i want real software upgrades damn it
- faulksb, on 11/13/2007, -1/+0Where is the voice memo recorder??
- hansonc, on 11/13/2007, -2/+1yeah because they care if you update.
- andyd273, on 11/13/2007, -3/+1Apple iPhone Update, also known as "Apple's attempt to tick off its customers and keep them from using the product the way they want to."
- DigDugDigger, on 11/14/2007, -7/+3Until there's a flash plugin, or 3rd party binary support, I don't see myself upgrading.
