- Glum, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Well you see there are homebrewed apps next to the new itunes store icon...
- streak, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Or a fake iTunes store icon next to other homebrewed apps on a 1.0.2 iPhone.
- Glum, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2nah, its from #iphone-dev ...
- streak, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Or a fake iTunes store icon next to other homebrewed apps on a 1.0.2 iPhone.
- transversed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2But the iTunes icon is in the wrong place, and it has the wrong caption. FAKE.
- MrMighty, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2They have read access to the 1.1.1 firmware. The picture is a 1.0.2 phone with the itunes store app from 1.1.1. It's on there, it does not work however.
- luma, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Not fake - that's the extracted iTunes music store icon on a 1.0.x firmware iPhone. The binary doesn't run.
The 1.1.1 filesystem has been mounted for R/O access and dumped (which is where that icon came from) and the new root password is now known to be "alpine". Still no execution of unsigned apps although work continues on that front via a libtiff exploit. This is going to be a bit difficult for buffer overruns as the ARM supports NX.
Short version - nothing to see here yet.
- Glum, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Well you see there are homebrewed apps next to the new itunes store icon...
- Commodus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17Needs a little more than a pic...
- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Why is the pre-1.1.1 Calculator icon on there. Bad fake.
- enivid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Uhm why would you need a little more than a pic that says it all? I don't get it.
- PathDaemon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Because someone could have just put a dummy app on the springboard with the iTS logo?
- jonnyfatman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I was expecting to see an iPhone with an almighty crack across its shiny touchscreen face.
- mccarron, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Info being updated here as the process continues to be duplicated:
http://www.tuaw.com/2007/10/05/liveblogging-the-bi ...- vladin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Looking promising. Eager for more details, maybe there is light at the end of the 1.1.1 tunnel from hell.
- Glum, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2there's still work that needs to be done on BB
- mytoeissore, on 10/10/2007, -14/+0"Pressing F7 turns Caret Browsing on or off. This feature places a movable cursor in web pages, allowing you to select text with the keyboard. Do you want to turn Caret Browsing on?"

- mzaouar, on 10/10/2007, -6/+4This could be fake,he might have just faked the icons on the home screen :)
- Glum, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2the picture is taken by the guy (dinopio) who discovered this hack, and it's the link he posted on #iphone-dev so no. its definatly not fake
- indiefan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2happy friday :)
- jkoke, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6If it's not fake, then why does it have the old 1.0.2 calculator icon?
- jkoke, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Fine... digg me down if you can't handle the truth. I HAVE an iPhone on the 1.1.1 firmware, and I am hoping for a crack, but THIS AIN'T IT. This is the MobileStore.app added to the the springboard of a 1.0.2 anySim unlocked phone. Follow the liveblog here ( http://www.tuaw.com/2007/10/05/liveblogging-the-bi ... ), and note the part where she was able to extract the iTunes Store app from the 1.1.1 firmware and install it on a 1.0.2 phone (it doesn't run, however).
- Glum, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This picture originated before TUAW even starter the whole liveblog thing. It's the original picture from dinopio.

- mattassin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Buried for Title.
- KevenM, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Pic doesn't say it all.
- molecool, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2How come this is on the front page with only 48 diggs?
- fishbert, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Oh, shut up.
- SirZRX, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1it wont run, it needs the 1.1.1 framework, but they are into it!
- haterrade, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1new firmware in 3...2..1..
- relaxiknwarchie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4What the hell am I looking at?
- bball2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Just another one of those cases where pic doesn't say it all.
- adammharvey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3how does the pic say it all?
- teh_techie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Burried
If you're going to say "Pic says it all", you have to mean it. - Crandall, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Too bad that's 1.0.2 with the iTunes moble store installed
- th3gh05t, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Ya, it ain't 1.1.1. Just 1.0.2 w/ iTunes.
- DarkStalker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Am I the only one a little disappointed that it wasn't an iPhone displaying version 1.1.1 with a HUGE crack down the middle of the screen?
- BradMW, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2Can we stop cracking iPhones and get to work on cracking the GPS on the new Verizon phones coming this November? When will people realize that service is more important than anything else on a phone?
- shpider, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1One word : Navizion !
- fishbert, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Buried as inaccurate.
No evidence that this is anything more than the MobileStore.app running on a hacked 1.0.2 iPhone. - Caleb666, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Actually, the pic says NOTHING AT ALL.
- vit4ek, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Well if to judge after the picture it has a very pleasant desing and interface.
- kinneas666, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1it also appears to be on rogers wireless the canadian cellphone company maybe???
- totorototoro, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Pic but it didn't happen. :p
- websyndicate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1fake
- projct, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0not actually a crack; we got the files off the phone and put the itunes store on a 1.0.2 phone.
- briankwest, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The firmware wasn't cracked. This is a trick to get read access to it prior to doing a 1.1.1 update they still DO NOT HAVE FULL ACCESS to the phone.
- sn00kie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Buried as inaccurate. Dev team reports this is false. Pic means NOTHING.
- blutkind, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The picture is 1.0.2 (Note rogers upper left) mobilestore.app was pulled from 1.1.1 from the READ trick from iPHUC and copied to a 1.0.2 phone. There is no unlock for rogers on 1.1.1 yet, it's a hoax.
- NonpareilNagle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0fake!
- pmpk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3buried, innacurate
- bigdoof, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0While the whole unlocking/jailbreaking movement for iPhones is great, at what point does this become somewhat futile? Every time Apple comes out with a new update, the entire community has to wait weeks before previous functionality is restored. For something like a cellphone, where you pay big upfront, continue to pay monthly thereafter, and use every day for basic communications, does a service gap of a week or more, occuring at random times, bother anyone? This isn't exactly a gaming console that you can just put down for a few weeks while the community figures stuff out.
- Ratking, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1HOORAY! But is this a pic of a.) 1.02 running mobile store b.) 1.1.1 with the app SimFree installed or c.) 1.1.1 running on TMOBILE?
I think all can agree that those are 3 HUGELY different things... But again HOORAY!!! - Vergs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Ordinarily, a pic is worth a thousand words. This one is worth, um, three? I had to read through the comments to figure out why this pic "says it all." Probably the worst subtitle, evah.
- bigal90, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2buried for ***** pic
- tcgoetz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Link takes me to an ad for cars.
- BingeBoy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Promising. Seems like there might be light at the end of the tunnel.
