- CheckMarshall, on 10/12/2007, -10/+84For the people who wonder why people are digging it even after the server is down.
I thought digg.com was a social 'bookmarking' site. So that you can digg it and come back to it when you have a chance. I dugg it after it was down, I was intrigued.... I could come back later to see if it was working.
For those with such negative comments.... chill out. I don't come to your dugg stories and scoff at your 'Mint condition xmen comic book collection pics!!!!!'. I look, take into consideration, and move on with my own thoughts. If I don't digg it, I move on to a story I do. - sv650touring, on 10/12/2007, -3/+46Seriously, what is with all the ***** "Oh great, more Apple. Just what we need for the fanboys." comments?
This is a cool IDEA no matter what. If it was a picture of the innards of a Dell 1704FP LCD monitor, I would have emailed it to 20 people at work already.
Mindless Apple bashing is EVEN MORE PATHETIC than mindless fanboyism. The bashers are always terribly concerned with convincing everyone just how disinterested they are in Apple - which they do by studying every move Apple makes so they can comment on it.
I get irritated too when a kool-aid drinking numbnuts Apple fanboy makes some ignorant anti-Windows remark, but they don't seem to have the same hatred in their comments that most Apple bashers do. - lgc90, on 10/12/2007, -6/+471. Because it's a really cool idea.
2. Because if I digg it, it will conveniently be saved in my profile for me to check back on later when the site is back up. - fyre2012, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3130 Diggs does NOT equal 30 hits to the webserver!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+38I love how everyone thinks that by owning a Mac that, by default, you're automatically a 'fanboy'.
Although, it is interesting how there are no Microsoft Fanboys. - johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -7/+28Not everyone can afford akami servers.
Weak - thumb down. - lordthor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19http://mekentosj.com/disctop/wallpapers/Pages/imacg5.html

http://birdhouse.org/blog/images/tigutz_low.jpg - moofer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19isn't doing a x-ray type image of laptop innards a little pointless? The iMac works, because the guts are really behind the screen. In a laptop, the only time this works is when the screen is closed, and looking at the screen when the laptop is closed doesn't work to well. If they wanted to more accurately model my laptop experience (as to what was on the other side of the screen) they should ghost an image of my wife yelling at me for being on the computer too long.
- circusbred, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Didn't even have a chance to mirror it.
- shyam131, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17What we need is a digg ratio that is the number of clicks on the story to the number of actual diggs.
- mindsnare, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15read the above comments you silly twit, people are digging it so they can bookmark it for later.
There seems to be more "I hate mac fanboys" fanboys than mac fanboys
I had to proof read that about 10 times, and it still hurts my brain - dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Yeah, I don't own a mac for the security features, virus free/spyware free enviroment, more useful feature set for my needs, cross compatibility with emulated XP, or anything like that. I bought it so I could be a fanboy.
Also, there's no such thing as MS Fanboys... Just developers, developers, developers, developers, DEVELOPERS!!!! - tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12You know that a (working) link to duggmirror.com will check the referrer and send you to the right page automatically? You don't need to link the full URL, just the duggmirror homepage will do.
But yeah, it would be nice if people a) checked duggmirror actually cached it first, b) checked that 10 other people hadn't already posted it. - rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13At least the G5 version is still reachable:
http://mekentosj.com/disctop/wallpapers/Pages/imacg5.html - shm1, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16Coz some people use their profiles as bookmarks for later.
- xioner, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16Because a lot of us will Digg something that looks interesting so we can look at it again later. Its a little concept called "social bookmarking."
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10"What is Digg?
Digg is a user driven social content website" [ http://www.digg.com/about/ ]
Anyway, does anyone have a mirror of it? Duggmirror/Coral and Google catce all missed it.. The G5 version is horribly compressed
- Ben - chiklit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8It's not his site though.
- sparkrainfir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8perhaps digg needs to add a "save for later" feature.
i know many times i'll digg something (mainly videos) that i can't see at work then go home and view my profile to see them.
if they aren't diggworthy, i'll simplly 'undigg' them. - dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You don't need to link full to the duggmirror link. Normally (when they get to cache it), clicking on the duggmirror link from a story will have DM pull up the correct story. Try using DM sometime so you'd know that it works just fine by clicking the shorter link.
Although they do look stupid by not checking DM first on their own.
EDIT: tizz beat me by seconds... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10what do you not understand about 'not cached'
- Applemacmad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Has anyone managed to get it?
Could they post is to Flikr or something? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5image quality seems kinda poor on that :/ pity it's a cool idea
- rtoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5here's the macbook pro
http://mekentosj.com/disctop/wallpapers/Pages/macbookpro.html - comradeTJH, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6TiBook with an intel core duo.. right...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5A better copy of the image:
http://birdhouse.org/blog/images/tigutz_low.jpg
and look at the core duo chip--notice how it is translucent and you can see the board behind it? - ErikPersson, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3at least it wasn't a Goatse link...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Stone885, that would all depend on your monitor.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Because this is the original image:
http://ether.asu.edu/video/TiGutz/
And all they did was paste a core duo image in there.
So nyah! - TravisG5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The iMac G5 looks much better on the inside, in my opinion.
http://www.macbidouille.com/news/photonews12/iMac_v3_interieur_big.jpg
Great idea though. - soyverde, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I see, never mind then...stupid foot in mouth disease.
- danjohadley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If i had a mac this would be so much cooler
- MacPPC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sure:

last two files are for those that want to do their own wallpapers.
Enjoy
It should be noted that I didn't take the pictures, I took them from OWC site, put them together, cropped and skewed to fit. I did use the battery, HDD and Superdrive X-ray pic - djdole, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2OK, I can stretch my imagination for the cob-webs,
but where are the dust-bunnies on the background? - uownedge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That would be kind of cool in some ways...I was actually just thinking the other day that a "statics" page would be nice. One for general statistics, such as that, and also a personal stats that can show things like how many stories you've dugg in a year/month/week/etc, how many +/- comment markings you've recieved, and how many you've given out, etc.
I think the big problem with something like that is though, you'll end up with even more people who don't bother to read the comments complaining about a story getting dugg when the site is down, as they don't understand what "social bookmarking" is (I hate that term, by the way). - negativeview, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@tizz66
I didn't know the first part, thanks. My other points still stand, though. Three links to duggmirror on a story that didn't get cached when there aren't all that many comments in the first place is just silly.
@dvddesign
I do use duggmirror, but usually without prompting and by going up to my address bar and changing digg to duggmirror manually. I can't remember the last time I clicked a link. - mastercheif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.duggmirror.com
- gavers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is my server. The problem is not how many hits, it's that it keeps having kernel panics, due to some hardware failure. I'll replace the machine just as soon as I can.
- harvinator24, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Here is the picture
http://hackthismac.com/2006/12/10/24-imac-desktop-background/ - pixelperfect, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Google already does this when you are signed in with a Google account..
Check the actual url google is taking you to, it is something like this:
http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.apple.com
They redirect you right away (after recording the url, rank).
They know every url you have clicked on..and the rank that it was in the list.. so they can make it #1 rank in the future.. - MacPPC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Based on his idea I got the internal of the MBP from the OWC.com site and made myself a slightly more realistic (machine wise) version. Just overlay some of the xray pic for the HD and the Super drive and you got a winner.
- oneMadRssn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i agree. apple sort of lost the 'really nice inside and out' thing with the intel switch. the new imac does not look cool inside.
then again i bet 99% of imac owners will never open their imac up like that. - crackintosh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1so share!
- ductions, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My mistake there. I do that myself too.
I'm actually a keen mac user. - SirBotchness, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So basically this is an image of the hardware in a computer, then you throw the default desktop on top of that. It is a cool idea, but not something i would ever have as my desktop.
- rheaume, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Digg me down! Too bad those milk colored toys dont come with a sense of humor
- Zafwon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I did a quick mash-up and posted on my blog and Flickr. Looks like all the parts match up...

What is Digg?
