- PAJK, on 10/12/2007, -47/+263The Zune looks like as fake copy of itself. ;)
- simX, on 10/12/2007, -30/+170"would HAVE" or "would'VE", not "would OF". Gah, this is the worst grammar mistake evar!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -23/+118OMG REALLY!?!?!? U R T3H AWESOME DETECTIVE!!!!
KTHNXBYE - allenu, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9310010111010101110111111010110110101010111111101001001000010101..
^^^ This is what the firmware looks like. Pretty close to the original, I'd say! - daleksarewimps, on 10/12/2007, -10/+83yeah, most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
- funkydude101, on 10/12/2007, -10/+74wow. pretty much identical.
- gameguy43, on 10/12/2007, -2/+48my bro has one of the chinese ipod knockoffs of a nano. the obviousness of the difference comes really quickly when you turn it on. completely different UI. plays WMA's too. also im pretty sure you cant actually scroll with the scrollwheel, you have to press the buttons.
- timlee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37That's easy for the audience of Digg to discern. But to the average grandma buying one for her grandchildren during the holiday rush... not so much.
- Mwongozi, on 10/12/2007, -15/+49"I await my dig-down for being intelligent."
Congratulations on being intelligent. I'm digging you down for being obnoxious, instead. - JohnClay, on 10/12/2007, -5/+32The 1GB should tip people off too. Then again...
- IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -26/+53The wheel would of rang an alarm for me.
- scootinger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28I don't completely agree...I don't even own an iPod and when I look at it I can tell practically immediately that the wheel looks different and that the screen is a different aspect ratio (narrow rather than wide.) Plus you can easily tell if you look at the rest of the labeling, etc on it.
And I haven't seen the newer-gen type of fake Nanos before. But you can find the older-gen-style ones as well as fake Shuffles at sites like fifthunit.com, and they're all over eBay as well. - TeqnoHaxor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23I saw a pretty good fake iPod Shuffle the other day, same color scheme on the packaging and everything. Lack of 'Apple' branding though.
EDIT - The old shuffle, not the new one :) - coyforce, on 10/12/2007, -11/+29well, since ipods are 90% status symbol and 10% device, it should work just as good.
- mikev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Images took a while to load for me, but it's more than text.
- Clark3934, on 10/12/2007, -7/+24Am I missing something? I just see a bunch of french.
- edzieba, on 10/12/2007, -8/+24I can't see why when they did such an exact copy of the back the ffont looks so different (scroll wheel all wrong, screen wring proportions).
- cube, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14there's your ipod killer right there....
- WombatBob, on 10/12/2007, -17/+30@ Odiwan
When someone thinks the Zune would actually sell, so never. - onedotseven, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13In English: http://www.hardmac.com/news/2006-12-01/#6182
- afeitarse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14"theres more comments about grammar rather than the story now"
You forgot the apostrophe with "there's" and, besides, it's "there ARE". I'm not even going to get into the dangling participle and "rather" issues. - StephenCIreland, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17theres more comments about grammar rather than the story now
- helsadig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11http://forum.macbidouille.com/index.php?showtopic=198600&st=0
the actual pictures - iignotus, on 10/12/2007, -44/+53"Rung" is the past participle, not "rang", so that's wrong too. Go back to English class, Ivan.
I await my dig-down for being intelligent. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I've seen some pretty good shuffle rip-offs as well. Reason being is two-fold:
- No screen.
- No clickwheel.
Both of which seem to be either too hard or too expensive for the counterfeits to attempt to exactly duplicate. - yabos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10The translator widget in OS X does an amazingly good job at translating
Harry sent these photographs to us of nano recovered in Thailand and of course manufactured in China. There are all the chances to see it unloading into soft in Europe and elsewhere...
[pics here]
It does not act here any more of copy, but of real counterfeit, since the logo and the APPLE mark are also counterfeited. - tutivlahos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Wait a while...
- guigui42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I saw those black fake iPods in Beijing, the iPod Nano box was exactly the same, so i opened and wanted to try it, and i tried the touch pad, but it was only simple click buttons, no touch pad, i m not even talking about the quality of the screen and the ***** interface.
And even after that, the sell woman kept telling me it was a real one... until i showed her what a real iPod Nano looked like :p - noliberalbull, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10a) the image loads eventually, right there on your screen
b) if you can't figure out the "faux nano" is the article that it will be under, you have serious educational issues - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10"hey greG, Seriously, who give's a *****?"
That should read: "Hey greG, seriously, who gives a *****?".
No possesive for "gives", no capitilization on "seriously" (it follows a comma, not a period).
P.S. Thank you to everyone who posted in this thread. I am laughing so hard, I still have tears running down my face. - bmobile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7haha this is awesome. who shoved a grammar pole up these peoples' asses?
- gregdigg, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11@bigstinky
"FOOLS ! I don't even use linux. BWHAHAHAHAHA! ***** grammar nazi's."
Nazi is a proper noun, so it should be capitalized. Also, it's plural not possessive, so there's no need for an apostrophe. - StephenCIreland, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12@odiwan
normally the clones perform worse than the real thing, so by that logic a zune clone would be well, a paper weight - CanadaMan87, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Oh those Chinese.. What a bunch of characters.
- guigui42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+620-something Chinese guy: You know what? Chinese people discovered America.
20-something Black guy: *****.
20-something Chinese guy: It's true! There's an article on CNN showing we discovered America, there are maps. Chinese were here first before everyone else. Chinese people did everything before everyone else. White people take credit for everything, but now it's coming out that Chinese made all of these discoveries first. Don't you see a pattern? We're the *****.
20-something Black guy: The only pattern I see is that you ***** pirate and resell every DVD, and now you're trying to bootleg history.
From http://www.overheardinnewyork.com/ ;) - dopyoman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Till you turn it on. It has a really cheap navigation system.
- nandorocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Cause this clearly doesn't have the scroll-wheel functionality, so they have to adapt it in order to change volume.
- mwong, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9the screen, wheel, color and text would have tipped me off
- rhinocirrus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Must have patience. Slow loading.
- JuyLe, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12UGLY !
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Ah, gotta love em Chinese. They sell both the REAL and the FAKE ipods. And you wonder why they have such a huge trade surplus.
- ventro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5http://www.duggmirror.com
- somerandomnerd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I think you meant "denote"- not "emphasize."
- PsycoMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4they post the stories but never where to buy em, idk I think it would be kinda cool to own some of these bootlegs.
- shirosamurai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@pplante
No. - gib786, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3not a bad bootleg, most people who were just shopping around for a cheap nano probably wouldnt be able to tell the difference. I had a look on ebay and found quite a lot of fakes, which is why all 3 nanos thats ive purchased were direct from apple, that way i know they are all legit
- molochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Does it work with Pirate Bay?
- DigDugDigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If they wanted to compete on the merits of the quality of the product, they wouldn't resort to putting another corporations logo on their stuff. If the features really did surpass what the iPod could do, they would put their own name on it and actually market it as a competing product like so many others have done.
- dan00b, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5funny thing…I've not blocked flag564 for the simple pleasure of digging him down and watching him get buried so quickly…
Frighteningly similar, but I think that most savvy buyers will be able to tell the difference…how many will make it to Future Shop, which is where my grandma'd buy stuff like that? - Berkana, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4If the Chinese counterfeiting industries would put their efforts to legit commerce, maybe they'd have themselves an industry leader. Instead, they devote themselves to the low-road of counterfeiting.
