- newbill123, on 02/14/2008, -0/+1Well, yes, the timing of releasing a paid upgrade was obviously planned in advance and cheapens the "value" of the MacHeist bundle. But Yazsoft probably wouldn't have participated in MacHeist if they expected to be giving away their major product upgrade.
What they did by releasing the new product so close to the bundle was a poor choice of timing. But I strongly suspect there are a few products in the MacHeist bundle that have a finished upgrade in final beta, and are going to wait until Spring to actually release it and ask for upgrade money.
Eventually all the MacHeist apps will be hitting you up for upgrade money. Yazsoft was just a bit too quick in their timing. - farfromsubtl, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1Hear, hear.
- calvinyu, on 03/05/2008, -0/+0Jarod01, I just give 1+ to your comment. Among the many discussions over this issue, the comment you made is among the most sensible and reasonable. I am a buyer of the MH bundle and I am extremely satisfied with what the bundle has offered for that tiny little price. I have nothing to complaint about even if all the bundled software asks for an upgrade price right now! There is an ancient Chinese saying that "People are always happy if they know when and where to stop." As a MH bundle buyer, I really think I am willing to pay the bundle price for only one or two of the bundled software - and now we have got more than 10 - I just think there is no ground for us to complain! My views may not be popular in the MH community, but this is what I think.
For the Speed Download Upgrade, I have been using the version 5 for 20 days and the trial will expire tomorrow. My experience is that I have decided to pay the upgrade price after using the software for 1 day! It really helps me a lot. I can in no way comment on the intention of the Yazsoft developers - what I see and experience is their great development effort - and that's what makes me willing to pay for the upgrade!
Thanks, Yazsoft developers for delivering a great product that enhances the productivity of my Macbook Pro. ^_^ - jarod01, on 02/15/2008, -1/+1I personally find the reaction of the MacHeist community disgusting and very hypocritcal. When Speed Download was not included in the MacHeist promo at the beginning of the promo, there was an uproar at MH for not including such a hot application. The entire deal between developers and MacHeist is done casually and informally hence siding with one side over another is ridiculous. As a user, I am getting a big bunch of applications for practically nothing. And now Im complaining about a discounted paid upgrade? Shame on you MacHeist people. Do you guys have any idea how long it takes to develop good software? I'm even surprised Yazsoft took so much time to address this issue when MacHeist shares equal responsibility in the problem by not formally validating the info they sent their users. This whole is ludicrous at best. In my opinion, Speed Download remains an excellent application no matter what and the fact that they have stepped up clearly shows who's the better party.
- frostbite7217, on 02/14/2008, -1/+0This is ridiculous, they obviously used this as a way to "try" to get more money.
- oneinfiniteloop, on 02/14/2008, -2/+1What these guys did is unforgiveable
