Theres also submission policies that app makers have to adhere to, the jailbroken phone would allow for all the apps that apple blocks to be distributed and hence it is a win for consumers.

I'm in Canada, so I had to pay full price + border smuggling + unlock (noob at the time). Trust me, there are people willing to pay. I remember when iPhones were going for $1200 on eBay.

They're all just as locked down as the iPhone, so that they can charge you for things that should be free like ringtones and text messages.

I've got an NES emulator, A carrier name changer, a notepad color changer (something I didn't have on earlier versions), Swaptunes, Pacman, an Icon hider, and a nice 'BossPref' which is a lot like Customize, not to mention a bunch of SSL, python, PHP and SQl tools that help on the backend. - inactive, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3Windows programmers have no sense of aesthetics and no taste at all.
