- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -18/+75Why wouldn't you just go to the website?
- ramirek, on 08/26/2008, -3/+51I love wikipedia...this app will definitely have a warm welcom on MY iPhone!
- mizunoX, on 08/26/2008, -1/+44We now have the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in our pockets.
- MtheoryX, on 08/26/2008, -0/+40Perfect for those spur-of-the-moment nerd debates on whether you should be using MyISAM or InnoDB.
- tjrecord, on 08/27/2008, -0/+33Wikipedia is a little hard to read on the iPhone. Usually I have to zoom in quite a bit to avoid straining my eyes, and then have to scroll left and right to read a full line of text. This is much better than all the zooming and scrolling :)
- outreach417, on 08/26/2008, -2/+31It should be good, will have to go check it out, but I hope they haven't dumbed it down too much like the Facebook app and Wordpress. What we really need is a better Digg app for iPhone
- synystar, on 08/26/2008, -1/+22"The new school year also means that research via Wikipedia is going to be on the rise." Wikipedia - you can't cite it, but you just might learn something.
- Tenoq, on 08/26/2008, -1/+17Even better ways to cheat on trivia nights.
Wait, that was just me? :-( - prunch, on 08/26/2008, -0/+14Digg Shouting FAIL!
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -6/+20wikipanion is horrible.
i just use safari to go to wikipedia instead - MtheoryX, on 08/26/2008, -0/+13No, it's not alright.
You're doing it wrong! - russ3, on 08/27/2008, -2/+15cite what wikipedia cites, duh
- eldridgea, on 08/27/2008, -0/+13So should we get the Apple custom engraving to read "Don't Panic"?
- xqb4dpx, on 08/26/2008, -9/+20Wikipanion sucks *****. http://wikipedia.comoki.com/ is still the best wikipedia app out there.
- Tenoq, on 08/27/2008, -0/+11Yeah, that's so good the website takes half-an-hour to load. :p
- djrbx, on 08/27/2008, -1/+9you clearly didn't upgrade to 2.0.2 firmware..
- housewarmer, on 08/27/2008, -0/+8Because it's faster and has better formating. Enough for you?
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+8since you not allowed me to create a new meme, i create new meme in here
- underburn, on 08/26/2008, -0/+7iWik is better.
- aussieNickuss, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6Not even that.....just single tap the top of the screen (where the clock, carrier, battery etc. is).
- housewarmer, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6Yeah, so? You get better formating by far and you support the wikimedia foundation all at once. I think the whole dollar it costs is pretty well spent.
- JoshuaH, on 08/27/2008, -1/+7http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MyISAM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InnoDB - synystar, on 08/26/2008, -2/+8Please don't do that ever again harlagisedih. It makes me think that you consider digg.com to be the most important thing in your life. And that you are a sniveling little bitch. I don't like to think such things about people.
- leamanc, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5It's been answered a few times before in this thread, but here's the summary:
1.) Pages are re-formatted for optimal iPhone reading. Browsing Wikipedia on an iPhone always meant a lot of zooming and pinching.
2.) It's hella faster loading pages in comparison to browsing Wikipedia with Safari.
3.) It's more of an app than a web browser, with controls to navigate the sections of an article.
In short, it's really slick. The app's authors did a great job with this, and it's one of the better App Store apps I've seen so far. - jonnyfatman, on 08/26/2008, -5/+10Pub quizzes just got a heck of a lot easier.
- meamog, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5I made a "Don't Panic" wallpaper for mine. It makes the geek part of me weep tears of pure joy.
- EtherGnat, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5A hoopy frood would know.
- lolgamoff, on 08/27/2008, -1/+6People need to stop saying "I could care less". For *****'s sake, it's "I couldn't care less."
To each his own. You may be content with a ***** RAZR that does nothing but make calls, but many people (including myself) like to have expanded functionality in their pockets. Smartphones are the future. - mingistech, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4WikiMe is a location aware Wikipedia app for the iPhone that is much cooler IMHO.
WikiMe has a slicker interface also.
A link for those interested.
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/ ... - psylence, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4What if he could actually care less, and chooses to reserve some of that lack of caring for a later date?
- Munceenuts, on 08/27/2008, -1/+5Fail.
- eggsovereasy, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4It's already on mine and it is nice :)
- RyanPT, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4I've had this app for a few days now and to be honest, it's much quicker to just visit Wikipedia in Safari.
- petebot, on 08/26/2008, -0/+4...settling bar bets everywhere!
- TheConman, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4What's an "iPhone"?
- plr4ever, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4I don't know what either of those are....
- 3drage, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4Kind of annoying that you have to scroll back to the top of the page to get the search bar again though.
- AlienMushroom, on 08/27/2008, -3/+6iWik is 10x better than this crap.
Free for jailbroken iPhones. - kinggimped, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4Heh, don't ever say anything negative about the iPhone on Digg... you'll get dugg down to hell.
Look, watch this.
THE IPHONE IS OVERRATED - adairnic, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3stop using wikipedia to research Israel?
- timusca, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3I'm sure you're an excellent tool anywhere you go.
- specialK16, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3What? A whole dollar!!!?
***** it, no way I am paying a WHOLE DOLLAR! - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -4/+7because the keyboard will lag severely then crash when you were trying to type in either the url or search field.
you clearly don't have a 2.0 firmware iPhone. - crwoo, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3That app has been on app store for 3 days now!
- Shenaniganz08, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3The reason for these apps is because of the better formating, obviously wikipedia.org works fine on the iPhone aswell
wow today is the first day ive realize that Digg is about 1 day behind in terms of Iphone stories
( refer to icontrol thread aswell ) - BrainInAJar, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3Now you don't need to know anything anywhere! Awesome!
- WickEd101, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3Be good if we could change the text size, it's like 18pt or something.
