Why Steve Job's keynote at WWDC 2007 was so boring.... [IMAGE]

- digg it
- macsare4loser, on 10/11/2007, -225/+39thats cool. thanks simongay
- macsare4loser, on 10/11/2007, -305/+30***** YOU ALL!
- Verdanic, on 10/11/2007, -13/+119Little bit worked up, there?
- Nick2632, on 10/11/2007, -55/+4SpiderMac to the rescue!
- SirNoobius, on 10/11/2007, -66/+13I dont get it
- crazybrit, on 10/11/2007, -5/+99I think that might be the most hilarious reaction to a comic ever.
- RiverBelow, on 10/11/2007, -69/+7That would be incredibly funny if the keynote was lame and everyone hated it. But that's the contrary, so waste of comic-ness, I suppose. Still got a chuckle though, anything that hates on Windows or Bill Gates makes me happy.
- Rukaribe, on 10/11/2007, -52/+44I hate Macs also. Is there a site like digg but with a different audience?
- Dotdotdot, on 10/11/2007, -9/+51haha
I love that guy! Why would you digg him down? I'm still laughing!
By the way, this was a cool comic. I didn't expect them to come up with THAT as the reason why it was boring.
And if you watch the keynote online, when he introduces the "New Desktop," everyone laughs for a second. You can totally see Steve Jobs die a little inside at that. - twit987, on 10/11/2007, -16/+40I wasn't aware a developer conference speeches were supposed to be entertaining.
(Sans monkey-boy dancing on stage, chanting "developers". ) - TheG2, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2Just wait, its going to get interesting yet!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=4qurysOet6A - Drahkar, on 10/11/2007, -13/+88I think the thing I'm most disappointed with this is that Simongray posted a direct link to the image and not to the page that is displaying it. Webcomics often keep existing through their adverts on their page and when inconsiderate people bypass those ads, they are losing money while still paying for bandwidth. You should be ashamed of yourself Gray.
- rpgmaker, on 10/11/2007, -21/+5I love the 'joy of tech' comics and generally they're funny but this one was LAME.
- phlogiston99, on 10/11/2007, -26/+11That was probably the lamest comic I have ever seen.
- TheSack, on 10/11/2007, -39/+8IT IS A ***** DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE NOT A FANBOY CONFERENCE, ***** OFF BACK TO MACRUMOURS.COM OR GO TO MACWORLD
- Nerfdude, on 10/11/2007, -6/+36now, this is just me thinking out loud, here, but i think the reason the keynote was lame was because there wasn't anything remotely interesting to announce.
- estvir, on 10/11/2007, -10/+54> IT IS A ***** DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE NOT A FANBOY CONFERENCE, ***** OFF BACK TO MACRUMOURS.COM OR GO TO MACWORLD
I'm pretty sure developers were pretty upset and disappointed too if not more so than consumers. Also, turn off the caps lock and get back to Steve Jobs dungeon. - SVPirate, on 10/11/2007, -2/+24@TheSack
From a developers perspective there was nothing that exciting in the Keynote. Developers got boned over 3rd Party iPhone apps. They announced Safari for Windows (ooooh big deal). I have found previous WWDC Keynotes to be interesting and informative compared to this, even without any major product announcements etc. This one was a total yawn-fest. It goes down as the first Apple keynote since Paris 2003 that I haven't watched during or after the event to see what happened, and I only didn't watch that one because I was SAT IN THE KEYNOTE. I've even backtracked and watched the old ones back to like 1999.
In short - it sucked. - teddyrux, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2I was going to add the OP as a friend just to go through and read his comments...but he's an 'Invalid User'. :(
- Gectow, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2Please say im not the only one who thought that the illustration of Bill Gates in the bottom left bared a striking resemblence to Steven Hawkins?
- RogueJediX, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1@dotdotdot (#7198384)
Could you link me to that video, please? I really want to see the reactions of Steve and the audience. - Sifl, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1Does this remind anyone else of Neon Genesis Evangelion?
- darkstorm777, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2holy baby hayzeus christo....all you anti/pro mac anti/pro M$ ppl are ***** nuts....its a god damn comic people, satire is the highest form of flattery. I respect both companies, and still found it humorous.
Really, Macs and MS arnt the only things out there to get all serious about. Hows about Hunger, or Disease. Oh wait I know, lets bitch and moan about two company's that none of us work for, none of us profit from, and not to lastly mention do not give a damn what any of us think on a singular level.
Get a grip. - MacParrot, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Rukaribe
"I hate Macs also. Is there a site like digg but with a different audience?"
Your Basement? - youngjjohnson, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0wow looks like you cant have your own opinion without getting dugg down. all he said was thats cool.
- cindylauper, on 10/11/2007, -25/+13is this supposed to be some kind of proof that geeks don't understand comedy....if so then bravo!
- macsare4loser, on 10/11/2007, -33/+1is that supposed to be some kind of joke against nerds?
if so then go suck a fat one. - zybch, on 10/11/2007, -11/+6Its not poking fun at all geeks and nerds, just Apple geeks and Apple nerds!
- MacParrot, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1@macsr4loser
"is that supposed to be some kind of joke against nerds?
if so then go suck a fat one."
I would go to the trouble of a witty reply to an obvious moron like you but why bother since you were banned.
- macsare4loser, on 10/11/2007, -33/+1is that supposed to be some kind of joke against nerds?
- walkea1, on 10/11/2007, -10/+132its funny, but maybe only because I'm an apple fanboy who wants to blame someone else for the lameness of the WWDC.
- bobbothegrayson, on 10/11/2007, -35/+40It's also not funny, because it was flat out dumb.
- catwh0re, on 10/11/2007, -8/+7While I feel most of the WWDC's have been boring. I think people are still floored by the iPhone keynote that they're expecting bigger and better keynotes to follow.
Here is the problem with that thought - Apple is not about to premier something else for us to spend our money on before the iPhone is released. Apple are still a financially driven company and their job right now is to ensure that the iPhone sells well. I highly doubt you're going to see touch screen iPods or anything else that could steal thunder from the iPhone. That is until the iPhone is well sold into all the major markets. This keynote was all about Leopard. The only down of WWDC is that people were expecting that Jobs was going to reveal some new amazing features. That didn't happen (probably because they've been canned for now. I expect 10.6 to be more exciting.) I suspect Apple have been spending more time working on the developer tools for CoreAnimation than bothering with introducing new features. With all that said, I feel stacks are actually being given less credit than what they're due. They're definitely going to further speed up the human/OS workflow. Also spotlight is getting an application launcher (a bit similar to quick silver.) so there is definitely plenty of reasons to upgrade. Refinement is a hard sell on stage, but that's what's coming in 10.5
- damien6669, on 10/11/2007, -16/+4no, it's funny because they were making out backstage before the interview. Maybe after... almost during?
- xpose, on 10/11/2007, -16/+74Thats an awful lot of words for a simple joke.
- abyss478, on 10/11/2007, -30/+70and a lame joke at that
- macaddct1984, on 10/11/2007, -20/+10Yeah, who likes two reed?
- tgpo, on 10/11/2007, -11/+36"Yeah, who likes two reed?"
You prefer only one? - FelixDrylock, on 10/11/2007, -5/+36"You prefer only one?"
Hey, that was an intentional typo for the purpose of ironing... you can't... make fun... of.... *head explodes* - abyss478, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1@felixdrylock
"i can't believe your head explodes.... if your head explodes you'll never make it as a doctor...."
- dreadstar, on 10/11/2007, -10/+63That picture of Bill Gates is hilariously accurate.
- veenenen, on 10/11/2007, -5/+22He kinda looks like Stephen Hawkings.
- econofast, on 10/11/2007, -6/+17Stephen Hawking's what?
- arduenn, on 10/11/2007, -6/+10Stephen Hawking's spleen.
- platypibri, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8You got some spleenin' to do.
- thatsmyaibo, on 10/11/2007, -18/+75I think that was the first time I fell asleep reading a comic.
- crazybrit, on 10/11/2007, -6/+16You've obviously never read VGCats.
- elvenseven, on 10/11/2007, -5/+52I fell asleep during WWDC -_-
- Tenoq, on 10/11/2007, -5/+21That's the problem with kids these days: attention-span-limit of about 5 seconds. :P
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2My attention span is much longer ta-ooohhh, blinking lights!
- Aldhelm, on 10/11/2007, -12/+5Reminds me of a terrible Voyager episode. It's name shall not be spoken off.
- redfox2600, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Which Voyager episode was that? I must watch it now!
- pauleric, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19Which Voyager episode wasn't the terrible one? I must watch it now!
- b3owulf, on 10/11/2007, -11/+45not funny.
- praxisseizure, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5mmmyep. sad indeed.
- ShadedNine, on 10/11/2007, -8/+2Agreed. Aside from being in a comic, I can't see what would possibly make this a "joke". There's no punchline, no wit, and simply no humour. I don't care what loyalties you might have to either of the joke's subjects, and most people will laugh at a good joke even if it targets someone they like, but this? I'd sum it up as simply: meh..
- angrycat, on 10/11/2007, -6/+5Hahaha now I know from where my Professor got the idea of Jobs' reality distortion field.
- Gatesophile, on 10/11/2007, -5/+48http://joyoftech.com/joyoftech/joyarchives/972.html
please link to the actual webpage when submitting webcomics. Show your support for their stuff.- opusaz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1I agree, go to the source but wow, after visiting that site I'm so glad I have the nuke anything extension. Sheesh.
- Pronoun, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Agreed, Joy of Tech is a great comic. Check out the archives.
- Jasio, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Wow..
Try telling that one to your buddies during the game one night.. - daviddiaz, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13I actually fell asleep watching WWDC '07. It's the first time Jobs has ever put me to sleep
- DrDabbles, on 10/11/2007, -8/+2What about that time...oh, nevermind. Just assume I'm making a "You're sleeping with Steve" joke here. :-P
- heythisismyname, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7well it was bound to happen, he had to screw up sometime
could have been alottttt worse - astrosmash, on 10/11/2007, -27/+5I didn't think the keynote was boring. Far from it. I was fawning over those new screenshots all afternoon.
It seems if Steve doesn't introduce a flying iPod people are disappointed. What gives?- Destroytoy, on 10/11/2007, -5/+27Did you masturbate to those screenshots?
- DrDabbles, on 10/11/2007, -8/+4What gives is that typically people are accustomed to massive changes for a release of an OS. This is more or less something you could do with patches to the current OS X. I mean, ALL of this capability existed in the current release. So, much like Vista...is a pretty UI color scheme worth $129? Not to me.
- astrosmash, on 10/11/2007, -11/+6Yawn. That's what people said about Panther and Tiger.
Fact is, Leopard has some of the most substantial changes of any OS X release, Objective-C 2.0 and Core Animation specifically, and you'll realize this once all those Leopard-only applications start appearing.
And if you think Vista was just a "pretty UI scheme" you simply don't understand software. (XP, on the other hand, was just the pretty UI scheme over Win2K, plus a friendly installer) - Cimlite, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18You honestly though that it was not boring to watch?
He takes forever to explain and show off things that we all get by looking at for 1 minute. "Stacks" for example, I don't need that explained to me... just show it off quickly and move on... but he treats every single new feature like it was an iPhone announcement. That made it boring.
- DolphinGL, on 10/11/2007, -11/+48Blah blah blah
Steve Jobs is the second coming of Jesus, Bill Gates is satan.
Rah ba ba.....
Buried for lameness.- prockcore, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11I think it's hilarious that they have to find some way to blame everything on microsoft.
How about Steve just sucked? Could that be it? - geoboy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5God dammit you people. It's a JOKE. It's a an exaggeration of extremely geeky Mac fanboys. It's not part of some underground "Bill Gates is an evil man" campaign that must tarnish his image at every opportunity.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1"It's not part of some underground "Bill Gates is an evil man" campaign that must tarnish his image at every opportunity."
You're not too familiar with the Joy of Tech comics are you?
- prockcore, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11I think it's hilarious that they have to find some way to blame everything on microsoft.
- anteyekon4myst, on 10/11/2007, -10/+14Steve Jobs' addresses are like porn, after a while you start getting tired of looking at it.
- astrosmash, on 10/11/2007, -19/+7Says you.
- anteyekon4myst, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12accidental posting
- Davede70, on 10/11/2007, -8/+4Man, uber nerds are very straaaaange. There are like 8 people that get that comic.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3No, we all got it, we're just not laughing.
- benitojuarez, on 10/11/2007, -7/+4Nice to see someone not sucking job's ***** for a change
- grizwald, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19i thought the grass wallpaper was a vista joke too. wtf was up with that? did u hear a lot of people start laughing when he first showed it?
- widebaytech, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7yeah, I love the fact that they all laughed except steve who just kept talking, then the room fell silent as the sad reality sets in.
and whats with 'the menu adapts to your background image', so what, does it move the menu items out the way if there is something interesting in the top left corner?
- widebaytech, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7yeah, I love the fact that they all laughed except steve who just kept talking, then the room fell silent as the sad reality sets in.
- mrmacky, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2Dugg because it made me laugh :D
- davin510, on 10/11/2007, -8/+2Steve Jobs = Cool
Comic = Cool
Steve Jobs + Comic = The lamest thing to hit the front page in a while, but still worth 300+ diggs (so far)- Cougarcat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1The opacity adapts to your background image, so if you have a black image you'll still be able to read the menu. I believe (I hope) you can turn it off, too.
- xcbxcb, on 10/11/2007, -12/+22People who donate inordinate amounts of money to charity are sour assholes, while turtleneck wearing espresso sucking coolbois are the future.
***** your future, Apple.- meatmcguffin, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2You are aware that Steve Jobs started a charity in the 80s right?
- kickasspodcast, on 10/11/2007, -16/+5Not an Image + actually a comic = wasted time + inaccurate title = buried storied.
- DM01, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16Since when are .jpg files not images?
- Wetzilla, on 10/11/2007, -13/+44Yeah, it's Bill Gates that has the despicability field, because he donates so much money to charity. The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is only responsible for 90% of the worlds polio vaccines, how evil!
- Bamborzled, on 10/11/2007, -18/+2It's a comic. Don't get so worked up about it.
- P5ycHo, on 10/11/2007, -27/+2Bill would have never given anything to charity. His wife forced him to do so when she started to manage his image.
- Jugalator, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1P5ycho, have you been stalking that couple or what? How do you know what Melinda told Bill? :-s
- lornefs, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1jugalator, just ignore the moron and maybe he will go away.
- applebyte, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I also thought the grass background was a joke at first. Another weird thing was when he was ichatting with Phil Schiller and PS askes SJ how the Keynote was going, and SJ replies along the lines of, "I'll let you know after the keynote." I don't think even SJ was too happy with the crowd's reaction up to that point.
Anyways see it for yourself here:

- DanH, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5Someday... in the way off future, there may be one strip of Joy Of Tech that is actually funny. Today is not that day.
- andritchie, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15It was 'boring' because it was over hyped. People got WWDC when they were expecting Macworld.
- sdcarter, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Wow, I guess you have to be an Apple person to get that comic. Then again, what do I know? I haven't drank the kool-aid... yet.
- Lacero, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2Is Joy of Tech ever funny? Lame.
- kickasspodcast, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2DM01
Like this story would have gone anywhere if it said [COMIC] instead. I guess a picture of a comic is actually lamer than just a comic though. So if I take a picture of a letter is that an image too? I guess it is, but assholes like you have to split hairs to boost your Digg Snark rating. *****-A Apple, shut up and release something besides hype.
This applies and still has to be one of the best stories ever on Digg
http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=macs_cant - funkydopeloven, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3that was retarded
- rajid, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3Ah! That explains a lot! :)
- pailsOfGrease, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Funny scary, not funny ha-ha.
/Lobotomizing Out Loud - Benjin, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3best. comic. ever.
- dhonn, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2Steve Jobs is a sell out. First he goes Intel, then he does Windows on mac, then WMP on mac, then Safari on Windows. After these talks will Bill Gates its looking like he just sold himself to the devil.
- Narwaffle, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4No, that's just called improving the relationship between two platforms in a beneficial way so both sides enjoy the benefits. It's pretty cool.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1"No, that's just called improving the relationship"
Right, because those "I'm a mac, im a pc" commercials that basically go "macs rule, pcs suck" are doing so much to improve their relationship...
- MrViklund, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1Lame.
- clark1001, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2All you Apple outsiders are going to have to switch to Linux to maintain your outsider status pretty soon.
- 2shae, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3It wasn't that boring
- digitalelite, on 10/11/2007, -5/+6This stupid little comic was the most boring thing ever. I would rather punch myself in the balls than read that ***** ever again. Screw anybody who liked that dumbass comic. The person who made it was a fag.
- xboxfiend, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1I'm neutral on the whole mac vs. PC war, I thought it was funny. Both guys are brilliant though and no one can dispute that.
- dogstylee, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1I was going to bury this as being lame but I'm going to Digg you up because the comic ended with a pun.

- sevs, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4Geez, why is such a lame comic with no humor being dugg up so much? Dugg down to try to stem this thing from becoming popular.
- ricepudd, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2It's not the comic that's getting the diggs, but seeing all the comments from the Apple fanboys whose sense of humour seems to suddenly vanish when the joke's against them!
- FuckDigDotCom, on 10/11/2007, -6/+5worst comic ever
