- mingistech, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18Yea.... What if the AppleTV was Joost.
Wait no... thats a stupid idea. Then it's not in my family room hooked to my TV. - consonance, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19I thought the point of Apple TV was that you don't need your computer for media.
- Kidman13, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Not bad at all...The sad thing is that it actually works faster and more responsive than iTunes on Windows.
- cosmotic, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9To answer the question, if Apple TV were a web app, it would suck.
- misbehavior, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7You have your own mine? Nice!
- BryanJK, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Well if it where a web app, it would crash after very little traffic :P
- grouchyman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Lame... the whole point of an AppleTV is to watch it on... get this... a TV. So with this piece of crap idea, I have to hookup a computer and use a keyboard and mouse to navigate the items, instead of a remote control?
- twodayslate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It would be a 414?
- StandardsDT, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4If Apple TV were a web app that site would be offline 247.
- kevinmotel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I don't know why, but I half-expected my apple remote to work with this. Oh well, dugg.
- greerso, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Nope, actually its media extender for iTunes on your computer. Apple TV can sync rather than stream if you want it to, but only in the same way the iPod does. If you delete your media from your computer, its gets deleted from your Apple TV.
Personally, I'd like to be able to move large videos that are transcoded into apple tv format rather than sync and burn up space in my computers iTunes library. - willclarke, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4So you could beat off.
- nusuni, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Damn, that's fast!
- myfanwy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2a well thought-out, detailed argument. thanks
- sputnike, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Pornotube? I thought like YouPorn was bigger... plus why would I want porn on my Apple TV?
- WiseWeasel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Buffering . . . Buffering . . .
Urge to kill rising... - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3What if the iPhone was actually a web app? Oh wait, it is.
- pwallroth, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Miro does this (formerly Democracy Player)... albeit not as well as Apple TV would.
- megahurt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It'd be cool if the site worked.
- championchap, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I like iTunes.
Get back to Foobar. - LondonDude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Very Subtle
- dvasj2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1shufuni is better
- adude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The previews certainly got my attention: Furtado, Alba, Johansson, Richards, Watts :)
- terrornet, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2And what if google took over the world?
- Terc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The Apple TV streams a lot of content, (it can also sync) so what is your point?
- akira117, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"What If Apple TV Were a Web App?"
"The server at www.paulyanez.com is taking too long to respond."
Not exactly apple fan boys at "paulyanez.com". - realchemist, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I wish they'd put a web browser in it. Can you stream firefox like you stream a movie?
- LeeSoong, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Just Add SAFARI to AppleTV to turn it into an Apple Web TV device - reading Digg on a HDTV is fun!
PLEASE Apple Do it Now! - Terc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1"very little traffic"
Erm, I hope you aren't basing that on the hits digg is sending their way right now. Because I wouldn't call the traffic digg directs to front page articles "very little". On the contrary, I would say its more than that website will see until it hits the digg front page again. - zdiggler, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I can also stream recorded shows over the internet, but my upload speed is not so good :(
- unclefire, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0As cosmotic said, if Apple TV were a web app it would suck. Apple TV kinds sucks-- If I remember correctly, resoultion sucks and you're limited to iTunes. The killer app in this space is an Apple TV "sort" of box, simplicity of a DVD player, hooked up to your TV, d/l or Stream of high quality content ad HD (or even DVD) resolution. Even the streamers are of little use-- stream from your PC - come on. to watch a non DVD type movie, I have to have my PC on?
- misbehavior, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It seems like what they are saying is more of a "What If AppleTV Did What AppleTV+Slingbox Do"
- mydave, on 07/26/2008, -0/+0It fast and very cool to have web TV.

it also play pictures from my computer.
I can also listen to MP3's from my computer.
I can also stream all sort of video DiVX/Xvid, QT, RM, MP4, WMV, mov. Cover form my computer and stream them to my TV.
I can also watch all the recorded shows on my TV as well as on my computer.
It also got web interface TivoWebPlus 2.0 where I can browse the guide manage season pass etc.
I can telnet into it as well as FTP.
With TyTools I can download the show, cut the commercials and put it right on DVD or archived as Divx. - antdude, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1http://duggmirror.com/apple/What_If_Apple_TV_Were_a_Web_App/ but no images. :(
- jfink, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Anyone try this on the Wii yet? Could be a nice successor to wiitoob.com if they add some category options (Most Viewed Today, This Week)...
- ghoch, on 02/22/2008, -0/+0web TV - cool

http://www.rsschannelwriter.com - Rob223, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0For the second time, users are again able to see videos on youtube via their tv. Just without a wiimote. And the actual websites.
- tohytone, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Try Youtube powered web TV from http://mytube.atspace.com
- Dolomite, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Buy a SlingBox, it does exactly what you ask and works great with the AppleTV
- nycsonic24, on 11/27/2007, -0/+0Not original
- Wolfsoap, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1OMG, It has the vista loading spinner. I am not happy about that. Not happy at all.
- joshuaer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0it would not work!! Well at least we know you can not run the app on a shared server.
- lepew, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1could be done with AIR (formerly Apollo).
- AtomicRocket, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Then it would be streaming video and not downloading and therefore totally different. Downloading is better. Higher quality files with no streaming hiccups while you're watching.
- ajstewar, on 10/10/2007, -6/+0Yeah I have a mine too. It's mine.
- neodorian, on 10/10/2007, -9/+2If you're using Windows there isn't much excuse for using iTunes though.
This is pretty nice. Faster than the actual Joost and being web-based helps. I'd like to see where this goes. - kurupttek, on 10/10/2007, -9/+2well its ok but it dosen't blow my mine

What is Digg?
Browsing Digg on your phone just got easier with our enhancements to the
