- Olle, on 10/12/2007, -7/+38Hey, did you hear that iTunes is updated?
- cvk_b, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23Burn cd-text added. Was not in article.
- eleven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Except for the preference on the main ipod "page" that says "only sync checked items". I am sure that will do what you're looking for. In fact I bet it would allow you to use the 1, 2, 5 or 10 most recently "checked" files.
- wisedude, on 10/12/2007, -9/+23Album art didn't even work for me, this blows
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Neither was one of my FAVORITE new features: Album Artist.
For electronic music especially, this becomes very important, as the person who produces the Album is very likely not the person who produced the song on the album (for example, Paul Oakenfold would use a Paul van Dyk song in his set, and then you'd have to try to indicate somehow that PvD was the actual artist, but Oakenflop mixed it).
Thank goodness for Apple actually caring about metadata and having one of the fullest implementations of ID3 in a commercial shipping product to date, I just hope their implementation is compatible with my own... - BadassCheese, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Not very informative...
- nrbelex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Just as soon as QTFairUse ( http://hymn-project.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=4 ) is ported to the new version, I'll update.
- o_sam_o, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Need to enter your credit card number to use the Album art feature. Why?
- MikeOSX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I believe the cd has to be in their database (aka sold in their store)
- caser85, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17Man this software just keeps getting better and better. The album art feature is a dream. I just wish I could browse through music like this on my plasma.
I don't know why everybody doggs Apple when they release great software like this. In the meantime, what did Microsoft come out with today? Have your tried their Urge software? It crashes all the time and is not NEAR as organized as iTunes. - rauz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Might as well share it here too: if you have problems with iTunes 7 playback (heavy distortion etc) on your Windows machine just go into Control Panels->Quicktime->Audio tab and change size from 24 to 16.
Apply and start up iTunes 7 again. - nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I would imagine that your iTunes/.mac account is used for authentication to access the iTS, which is where album art is downloaded from. Guess the vendors selling apps to download covers for free from Amazon & friends will still have a market.
- shiftt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7workstation = desktop when you work from home.
- ronmexico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6For the life of me I can't imagine what jukebox you are using that you think is better than iTunes.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Oh man, I'm relieved someone else was experiencing the pops in the music.
:O - madmaxptz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Where's my equalizer button!?
- TheOtherGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+695% of people have it working fine... Have you considered the possibility it could be YOUR problem?
- jeffgtr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I had zero problems with the install. The album art feature is great. My only problem was that when I downloaded artwork it didn't recognize everything..but most it did. btw I have 7618 songs..everything went without a hitch, of course I'm on a mac so most everything goes that way.
- starbird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5and anyone notice that the movies are in a widescreen format?
- shiftt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7still wont install on Win2003. I'm stuck using the first revision of version 6.
- ehmjay, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9one really crappy feature of the new iTunes is that you can now no-longer sync checked podcasts only but rather "all" or 1,2,5, or 10 most recent.
I dislike that A LOT! - CPUGUy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Urge isn't Microsoft software, it is MTVs.
Also, the whole album art stuff here is a direct rip from WMP11, yet everyone claims Apple as coming up with some ingenious design.... - geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"I'm curious as to what the problem could be."
Your soundcard doesn't support 24-bit sampling, that's the problem. The only thing is, most modern soundcards (and for that matter, integrated sound chips) SHOULD support 24-bit samples. So it could be a software problem in the way that Quicktime handles 24-bit samples in conjunction with the Win32 interface to the sound driver. It's anyone's guess, and I don't have a Windows machine right now to troubleshoot from. - TiMMY8765, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4at least I'm not the only one having audio problems. Works fine until I start up a game, then it acts like a scratched cd.
- jguy584, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12The next front-page post about itunes 7 should be the one announcing the release of the patch to fix the horrid audio distortions in the Windows version.
- jobshomeboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"didnt you get the memo?"
- glitch1501, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4i thought i was crazy, its like the same exact way that wmp11 views cds...
- rauz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yes
- Reno582, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Is anyone else getting static-filled playback?
other-wise my only other gripe with iTunes 7 is the memory usage and the slow as hell GUI
by the way, I only have 300 songs, it shouldn't be that damn slow, at least version 6 wasn't this slow - rauz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4See my comment a few scrollies above.
- truebullfan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4wait so does the free album apply to all music even old cds that never had album art?
- smcavoy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4umm... windows server 2003 as a desktop?
- TiMMY8765, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I have an X-FI Platinum and I'm having the same problems, it seems like all creative cards are doing it. Someone posted a workaround below that seems to work.
- Klitzy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Finally....One that covers them all rather than one digg story for every feature
- teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well this is great now I cant listen to any audio because its all distorted. I cant install the older itunes because my library file was converted. I cant use system restore because it wont revert the library file. Even a full uninstall and reinstall gives me errors about my damn cd burner drivers which never changed!
Now i cant get the setup to run because of some crazy error. Now what am I going to do, rummage through my registry for every single apple entry? Thanks a bunch for more buggy XP software apple...i should have waited. - au071, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I like 7.0, the interface does feel much cleaner and the rotating artwork is pretty cool.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You have to make sure the album/artist name is exactly the way they have it in the music store. I thought mine didn't work for a while, but it did fix quite a bit of them.
I think iTunes 7 is pretty hawt. ;D - starbird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I have a PowerBook G4 and it's working like a charm....
- TiMMY8765, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3for all the people praising apple, you'd think they could set a good example to potential customers by writing stable software
- SickBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What does this do? I had this audio distortion for a short while until I reinstalled iTunes 7 again. So I'm not going to do it but I'm curious as to what the problem could be.
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, I'm not updating anytime soon. Apple has contined their track record of putting out very poorly written software for WinXP. Forget the new features, I just want a program that doesn't slow the computer down to a crawl, and start services that I don't want or need (ipodservice).
- stmiller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Except it is much too late now... we have a million iTunes 7 stories already. :(
- hotsoda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4View > Show Equalizer
- jobshomeboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.zamwi.com/wordpress/2006/09/12/hands-on-itunes-7/
nice itunes 7 review - avatarpalin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Can't wait for 'International talk like a Pirate Day (Sep 19)" ... It's going to be a bit nutty around Digg on that day...
Arrrrghhh!! - Soulscribe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't remember the original coverflow ever being able to be used as a visualizer or in full screen mode, are you thinking of JewelCase?
I would love to see coverflow fullscreen, but this is the best I can figure out:
Make a playlist, and then double click that playlist to open a new window. This window doesnt have the source list on the left hand side. This lets you make the coverflow area as wide as your screen, but you still have the tracklist on the bottom. - totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2works great on my MacBook-the CoverFlow stuff is really nice. Album cover feature worked fine, too, although I think I had most of my covers already.
- sinembarg0, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Why would someone choose to give their credit card number and get charged to a 3rd party company to get a program to do a mediocre job of getting album art, where they can just give their number to apple and not get charged and use barely noticable iTunes album art finder?
- Ossuary, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2FINALLY: CD-TEXT options on the Audio CD burns!
The iTunes gods must have been pleased with my SanDisk sacrifice. - espek, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Why did they have to make it *****.
It doesn't even look like any other Apple applications?!
I hate it when Apples breaks the aesthetic standards it sets within it's own product. -
