- wildfire, on 10/11/2007, -5/+71Damn, I thought this was going to be about Microsoft BOB.
- bradspry, on 10/11/2007, -5/+65Actually, it's a one year old in the video.
- Disease, on 10/11/2007, -10/+54I worked 10 hours a day in railroad construction when I was two for 7 cents a day. Where's my youtube video?
- wjackson, on 10/11/2007, -4/+47LOL @ the way the kid looked at the mom when she started talking. Man-time is not to be interrupted, lady.
O hai mom, we can haz privacy? - prototypef, on 10/11/2007, -5/+36pfft. let's see him try and instinctively type an email...
- elvenseven, on 10/11/2007, -10/+37O *****, dad's a fanboy.
- legendxx, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23I guess digg needs to polish up their UI since you couldnt find the reply button
- resplence, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18Wow, what a lame spontaneous display of fanboyism. People gladly PAY to advertise products now. Steve Jobs must be proud.
I'd be impressed if he had recognized icons or something. Isn't "'throwing stuff around" what 1 year-olds do best? - plagiats, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15best password generator ever
- Jambi, on 10/11/2007, -3/+16The so-called "toadies" laud it in droves because for some unfathomable reason, it rarely occurs to the competition (whether in the OS or music player business) to do the obvious (with the exception of the iRiver Clix and its successor, which are equal to the iPod in quality, imo)! Frankly, I'm not an Apple fanboy; if Microsoft/Sony/Dell/whoever came out with a quality OS with a good UI that was available for the PC, I'd likely switch back to a PC once I felt I needed a new computer. Unfortunately, that's not the case. That said, there are plenty of people who call Apple on its numerous UI gaffes (just see the reaction to the new transparent menubar in Leopard if you don't believe me), but you're always going to find Apple fanboys, even more so on Digg, where blurbs and one-liners take precedent over a more in-depth discussion. I'd say ignore the Mac articles on here, and go check out a forum if you're interested in a balanced critique of Apple and its offerings.
- sourwood, on 10/11/2007, -6/+18I wonder why so many videos have been showing up in the news section lately?
- Remmiz, on 10/11/2007, -6/+18Because retarded Apple fanboys don't understand the complex Digg UI
- debuggercll, on 10/11/2007, -6/+18You're all thinking it. That's an ugly child.
- KiTchMe, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16That kid needs to stop smoking. all that coughing
- Reziarfg, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12I could go out on a limb here to say that he wanted to point out how it's not instinctive to use something. Easy to learn != instinctive. Besides, since when was surfing Digg akin to needing to like the iPhone? Oh...right.
- LeonardNimrod, on 10/11/2007, -4/+14Dug down for being inaccurate and a douche.
- newaffect, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10wtf? cheap ass submission.
- pnmoore, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11If you want to make a point about a 1 year being able to "use" the iPhone show me a video of him sending email, listening to music, making a phone call, etc. Anything (baby, toddler, old person, dog, cat, hamster, etc.) can wipe their finger (or paw, as the case may be) across the screen. Give me a break!
- gregmo, on 10/11/2007, -9/+18I already have problems with my nieces grabbing my phone and accidentally calling someone. I don't want kids grabbing it and actually knowing how to mess my ***** up.
- 7levels, on 10/11/2007, -7/+15@ willynilly
In the bottom left corner - jordn, on 10/11/2007, -6/+14I'm sorry guys, but this is the lamest iPhone related article i have ever seen.
I'm off to read the news at Netscape. - CanadaMan87, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Piss ***** bitch
This is fun. - jhepoy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7and this is what a 2 1/2 year old will do on a notebook computer:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=fOXTIHVKT7k
http://youtube.com/watch?v=sfgemAJjpfY - xXKobaXx, on 10/11/2007, -5/+12I bet you feel like a big man calling a 1 year old a "little retard"... Do you actually scale your intellect along side 1 year olds? Be a little nicer, if you're gonna bash anyone, bash the guy who posted the video, not the baby...
- ventro, on 10/11/2007, -0/+71. Apple's goal is to make their design seem very obvious. It's not as simple as it looks to achieve that.
2. The contacts button is the phone button. It brings up a list of names and you tap on one and it gives you all their details. So really the Phone app icon should be renamed to 'Contacts' but then you would say 'where's the phone icon?!?!' like the idiot you are. - pixelsoup, on 10/11/2007, -8/+14It's not like the kid was navigating to different functions on the phone. He was swiping at the screen while the dad made idiotic baby-talk noises. Dugg down for having to listen to the Dad make an ass out of himself.
- streak, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8***** that *****
- angrycat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6My cat can use skype to phone me, beat that iphone.
- Storm9, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Then you must be very retarded... One of the biggest things about the iPhone was how it had only one button..to return to home screen!
- Cyko3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5iPhone: So easy a cavema.....child can use it.
- resplence, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I think he might know where to find it, but doesn't want to be buried underneath the buried parent. I don't know why digg wont use
[buried comment]

by default, without having to make us click 'show comment' to even find out that's its not a troll, but there might actually be insightful comments underneath that.
If they are worried about cluttering the interface, these awful blue "hide reply" lines already did it. - annonimality, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Yeah, typing "XCOPY C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersDocumentsMy Pictures*.* \dell333BackupDellP4All UsersDocumentsMy Pictures*.* /D /E /C" is way more efficient.
- marning2000, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9Can someone with Nokia N-Series, or Sony Ericsson, or whatever is it, have their 1 year old do the same thing -- flip through a family photo album -- on the phone?
...
...
...
No? Well ... just as I thought. - DaffyDuck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Most 1 year olds can't figure out how to use a remote. They would just randomly push buttons.
- terminalpariah, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4http://ripley-the-cat.livejournal.com/
- socialidiocy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4to look at pictures of himself and daddy...
- badjoke, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Because they can make code that's actually complete and easy-to-use? Um...k.
- Me1000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3*swoosh*
that is the sound of the video going over your head! - mcorto, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Why are you saying this? Just stay away from the Apple section. Apple = iPhone now. What story can we post about Apple other than about the iPhone?
- KielKilla, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4It all makes sense now! All praise pixla's cat! He/She should be a prophet.
- CLShortFuse, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Dugg because of the look he gives him mom. It's as if he's saying "you're not interesting. stop wasting my time"
- bovox, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Nonsense. You are clearly lying to try to make a counterargument. A 1-year-old lacks the cognitive ability to read the phone UI, and the fine motor skills to navigate the tiny button-based UI of that phone -- both of which are necessary to use the poorly designed LG EnV. If this child is looking at photos on it, it is clearly because you have trained the child which buttons to press. It is not the same as just handing the phone to the child without prior knowledge of how it works.
- Nocturnalsgfx, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4why do i see his fingers hitting the keys out of sync with the game? i call BS. He's just watching a video of someone beating Mario.
- acroyear2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Well, i think the kid is probably a bit smart and he's not really doing anything special either. none the less, a good way to test UI design.
- luciferin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2He meant posting in the comments of an iPhone related submission.
- Sepeteus, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5"Simplicity !== Good design."
Not necessarily but it's a pretty big part of a good UI design. A simple UI is easy to learn and easy to remember how to use it. - mastercheif, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Have fun with no lossless formats!!!
PS: I went trough 3 Zen Vision :M s in 5 months. I have a 80GB iPod ever since. - Wendigo6x3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21.75 years old... closer to 2 than 1.
- Jambi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Actually, I can't stand the default look (too much metal). What exactly do you think is so bad about the Finder in its default state?
