- snozle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Yes, the tutorial is crap, but as mottram mentioned, the user "wastemytime", in the comments, seems to save the day.
Also, to clarify for those who don't know how to get it working:
1) Invoke QS
2) Type "." (minus quotes)
3) Type your text
4) Press Tab
5) type "large type" or anything you want to be run for that matter
6) Press ctrl-enter
7) Choose your action, for example "run after delay"
8) Press Tab
9) Type your delay (or anything else), for example "15s" - dimitrilw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7This is a great way to control work/break time. For example, start your work cycle by setting a QS reminder to display in 50 minutes-- or whatever your personal work/break cycle might be. Then, take a stretch break with a QS reminder set to play a sound in 10 minutes which reminds you to return to the keyboard and get some more work done. Rinse & repeat.
- fastfood15, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Digg for QuickSilver. It has reduced to size and necessity of my dock significantly. In fact i might soome try to go dockless! O.o
- dmoney06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sorry to abuse the comment system, but how can I do this with Quicksilver B51 (3800)?
- mottram, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The tutorial is pretty crappy, but the comment by a user called (perhaps aptly) wastemytime saves it.
I use this when I 'phone someone and they say 'Can you call me back in twenty minutes'. Saves me several milliseconds spent glancing at the clock each week ;-) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Comment system abuse! I'm reporting you!
And... To use this in QuickSilver, you need to add proxy objects to the catalog.
- Open the QuickSilver Prompt
- Choose Catalog from the dropdown menu, or hit Cmd+semi-colon.
- Select "QuickSilver" on left, then check 'Proxy Objects', then hit the reload button at the bottom.
Now from the QuickSilver prompt you can go 'Last Command', Tab, Down-arrow to 'Run After Delay', Tab again, then type 15s. - EndlessRain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Tutorial was utter crap. Also, this is so old following the steps in newer versions of QS will give u headache before you realize this crap is written 6months ago.

- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -10/+12Or you could not be a pompous asshat and just take breaks like the rest of us have been doing for thousands of years.
- gatomalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You can time when you want to open apps, play songs, visit webpages, run apple scripts, etc. I have made QS use itunes as an alarm clock and then open a webpage with the days weather. And if you have skype you can program it to make a phone call at a specific time and skip the whole reminder. I love this app.
- wphj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yeah, but it'd be cooler if someone wrote a plugin to make it easier to use.
- joel2600, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sounds exploitable
- fromonesource, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is exactly what i was searching the internet for only a week ago. i couldn't find anything about how to do this with quicksilver. thanks!
- mcgraths, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1For anyone having problems getting this to work, I have posted an updated version of the tutorial on my blog: http://blog.seanmcg.com/?p=93
It helps clear a few things up as well as simplifies the process. - iNunchuk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@ crass22
Its a mindset like that in which graduation from college is a far cry. - mcgraths, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, I wrote this tip forever ago. Everyone should read the comments following my article for a faster way to perform the timer. The ol' ctrl+enter trick wast left out of my tutorial and makes things faster. This is also mentioned in the comments above.
- opensourcemaven, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3das hot seks
- TheADOGuy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Should be in Mac Category
- attention, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1not cool. quicksilver doesnt even work when i unpack and mount the dmg
try "tinyalarm" to do just this thing. it is a really good program
not to mention the software isnt that useful, and doesnt do exactly what i want, only what it wants to do.
i use a combination of "spark""imote"and "folderglance" and qs is completely useless
not to mention this has absolutely no use for windows or linux users, why did this make it to the front page? - Chris24, on 10/12/2007, -16/+1Hmmm... Ok.... Cool..
