- ronnsprocket, on 08/27/2008, -1/+69i designed a controller out of cardboard...
http://flickr.com/photos/43474966@N00/sets/7215759 ... - kronzdigg, on 08/26/2008, -11/+49yes but will it play crysis?
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -3/+40I'd say it enhances it. The problem with emulators on the iPhone/iPod Touch has been that the buttons are usually watermarked over the screen and you have no feel of where the buttons are and slip off them too easily. Annoying.
- alexcroox, on 08/25/2008, -19/+51surely this defeats the point of a touch screen device...
- Archaic1, on 08/26/2008, -18/+39Now all it needs is a lower case "i" at the start of it's name, some brightly coloured advertising and a stupidly high price tag and it'll be ready to ship!
- kevL0CK, on 08/26/2008, -1/+19if the gamepad has a built-in battery pack then i'll be very pleased.
granted, it's a touchscreen device, but why can't we have both? DS does.... technically. - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -1/+16I'd say it complements the touch screen. Reminds me of the DS, which I'm actually running a tracker on right now... Touchscreen is useful and so are the buttons. (Yeah, I know, A tracker isn't a good example for gaming...)
- rootnik, on 08/27/2008, -0/+12Outstanding work!
- JuanBSU, on 08/27/2008, -0/+11Apparently you're being buried for the truth...?
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+11....you've never seen that before?
- ferrariman60, on 08/27/2008, -2/+13You ARE joking, right? I hope so.
- roessnakhan, on 08/28/2008, -0/+10It kind of makes me sad that my iPhone has more games on it than my mac can.
- 4ntHony, on 08/27/2008, -0/+10What about the crappy indie song in the commercial?
- normalkid, on 08/26/2008, -1/+10yep. for the most part virtual buttons and pads are terrible for gameplay.
- ronnsprocket, on 08/27/2008, -0/+9I guess I could? Would anyone buy these?
- keviniskool, on 08/27/2008, -2/+9It doesn't and stop calling me Shirley.
- Shenaniganz08, on 08/27/2008, -1/+7true but nothing beats a good d-pad for sidescrollers
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -2/+8and only being able to press two buttons at once really messes you up in some games
- MScrip, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5But now you can enjoy games on the iPhone's gorgeous 3.5in screen and not stick your fingers all over it.
- solidus636, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5That's ***** awesome!
- solidus636, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5Hells yes!
- AzureRise, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5That's pretty badass!
- breakaway, on 08/27/2008, -2/+7What are you doing with an iPhone then? Go buy a blackberry.
- bradleyland, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5Can you make these in quantity?
- Katana314, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4What about games?
Oh, wait, if it has an i in it I don't care. - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -4/+8***** you two of my friends died while two of your friends were raping this meme etc etc...
- RedS0x, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4Cube Runner is amazing.
- Armor1901, on 08/27/2008, -4/+8Am I the only one here that has zero interst in this gamepad thing for the iPhone? I like mine just the way it is, thank you.
- mb3581, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3http://www.icontrolpad.com
- anyone4apint, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3It seems that I am in the minority for not wanting to bolt any crap onto my phone and actually just use it as a phone. I will stick to my DS for a mobile gaming fix.
- beerbarron, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3Its interesting that theres a lot of comments shunning the idea :-s but when the phone first had games everyone was like omg need buttons!
- JayD16, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3Apple commercials are where indie songs go to die...
- Nouman6, on 08/27/2008, -4/+7Yea, no thanks. The battery life is already low enough. (yes I am aware similar devices have worse battery life, no need to get anal)
Unless someone is smart enough to make these devices actually contain their own battery, I don't see much playing time. - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4Awesome idea, though there would have to be a serious turnaround in game development for iPhones to make it worth it over getting a PSP or a DS.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -3/+5There's no way you just typed that and then clicked the submit button.
Nobody could be that dumb. - PilotHead, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2it's already the size of a Sega GameGear now
Just give it up, im not going to turn my screen to the joint where i can barely see it and try using my thumbs at the same time. - Archaic1, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2Why did you click on this article then?
- artkiver, on 08/27/2008, -1/+3I would rather have an iphone add on QWERTY keyboard.
- Electricpigdigg, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2So it seems the answer to making the iPhone more game friendly is to turn it into a PSP....
- mwalker05, on 08/27/2008, -1/+3if you want a touchscreen device that has buttons, get a ds. they acutally make good games for those.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2I own one of those, my iPhone replaced it as my PDA
- waynehoggett, on 08/27/2008, -1/+3Don't you mean a portable version of Warhawk on your PSP? FFS
- DaffyDuck, on 08/27/2008, -2/+4will it play crysis is the new will it play doom.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2iPhone will never be a valid competitor to PSP/DS due to the cost/contract and battery life
- NaziHatinChimp, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Needs two Joypads. You could make better controls with 2 shoulder buttons and 2 joysticks than you could from 6 buttons and one joystick.
- Justin6512, on 08/28/2008, -0/+1I agree, this would be reversing the whole point of the iPhone's innovation. Think of all the money apple spent perfecting their touch screen technology. They wanted to create a phone first with media and internet functionality built in that would go un-matched. They never said that they were designing the next big hand held gaming console.
- rubored, on 09/01/2008, -0/+1Oooo, an SNES is ALWAYS a good amount of SNES!
- Echomote, on 08/31/2008, -0/+1iControlpad is jailbreak only, appstore games wont be able to use it.
- benologist, on 08/27/2008, -1/+2I don't think so. If you didn't need to lug around an accessory to play games then it would.
Apple and Sony need to team up for an iPhone/PSP combo. -
