- kungPow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I bet you idiots believe in the bible code too.
You know, Apple opened the day at 76.05. Coincidentally (or not, wink wink), 7/6/05 is right about the same time Apple dropped official support for Java as a GUI development language. Also coincidentally, if you reverse those numbers ($5067), that's about how much just two macbooks will cost you.
If you divide the closing price by the opening price, that's about how much faster the new macs are than pcs half the price (about 1.06x). - menace303, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"what is special about "$2,718,281,828"?"
From batellemedia.com...
"It turns out that 2.718281828... (...and an infinite number of digits after that) is 'e', the base of the natural logarithm. Because it can't be expressed as a ratio of two numbers, it's known mathematically as "irrational" -- something some bankers might say about the way Google is going public. However, 'e' also happens to be "transcendental," another fancy property of a number that means it can't be expressed by a finite number of algebraic operations. Maybe Google is making a little wordplay -- saying they expect to transcend expectations -- to overcome or notably exceed ordinary limits." - nature, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This site gets worse every day.
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This story isn't about the value of e. It's about Apple's closing costs being at $80.86 on the day they announced the Apple computers with Intel x86 processors. x86 stands for the Intel 8086 processor.
- anthonyb415, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Oh my god! Did you guys notice that Google's closing price was $469.76!? I bet it means they're having "Catfish with Green Pea Salsa" tomorrow...don't you know, recipe number 46976 on fooddownunder.com!?
http://fooddownunder.com/cgi-bin/recipe.cgi?r=46976 - gastroboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the link was pretty crap
but the story was totally nerdy.
digg - tifosiv122, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It was NY pick 3 that had 9-1-1 on 9/11 2002
- jpatch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1for us mario fanatics-turned-geeks, it's 10 years before our time... No digg, but a chuckle at least, cause I get the point.
- 0x2a, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the story only deserves to be dugg because its a testament to how the person who noticed this has surpassed all previous records of geekiness...oh well. worth my 10 seconds

- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now that's funny.
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just as strange, after Howard Stern took the airwaves on Sirius on Monday the Sirius stock was at $6.66 Here's a link to the screen cap http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/2530/siristock6665gq.jpg
We'll have to keep our eyes out for more signs from the stock gods ;-) - ExtremeSkier444, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0very interesting. I digg
- Elxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's hilarious how the first few commenters didn't get it and were wondering what "$2,718,281,828" meant. We were talking about the SHARE PRICE, I don't think any company share has gotten that expensive.
- v3xt0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0someone REALLY needs to get a laid! =p
- ScottBookG4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey, I consider that a pretty good omen that Apple made the right decision with Intel :)
- dmoffitt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that blew my mind, how funny ;)
- DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Meh, you can find stupid coincidences in just about any arranement of numbers. Ending in 86 just makes it more likely to be an Intel association.
- gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0tifosiv122: "It was NY pick 3 that had 9-1-1 on 9/11 2002"
Just FYI, New York Lottery's site (I blame them for the long URL):

- Charlotte_Web, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wikipedia on the Intel 8086:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_8086 - DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"So, the motto of digg has become "When you have nothing real to submit, just submit some stupid ***** about Apple!"
Or Google. - valis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0* when Apple's stock closes at $65.02, does the company reset
and start with the Apple II all over again? *
*chuckles*
In view of that, if the share price goes above 256.00 will Apple's stack overflow? - ConradB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you've been a mac geek for 20+ years you'll know how important 8086 is *****. It was all about the Motorola 68000 vs the Intel 8086.
Get off the ***** bus if you don't have a freak'n ticket. Don't Digg, and piss off - ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0jkfan87- "at some point" yes, but on the day they announce the release of their first intel-based product?
- ManiacFive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0al you haters out there, and especially the digger who said to quote the article not a lame blog...
CHILL! it's a funny co-incidence, its not about looking for bible codes. And it was a stock price, how can we link to an article about a particular stock price.
Just cause you didnt get it... - bmc152006, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0friggen sweet
- btnheazy03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 *SMACKS HEAD*
Digg. - Hrekum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol... I dugg it.
- hiro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just about funny, but what brought the big smile to my face was selling the vast majority of my Apple shares today for my target profit. On balance I prefer what Bill does for my computer, but I'm much happier with what Steve has done for my wallet :D
- glitchbit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0all the stock holders worked together to do this, or maybe... maybe it was microsofts doing.
- EyeDye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Oh my god! Did you guys notice that Google's closing price was $469.76!?"
I searched for 46976 on google & this was the top result...
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=46976
The 8086 is geeky goodness, but anything Apple is to fruity for my digg. - Dummies102, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what the hell is an "unintentional inside joke"?
- shooby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0can I add myself to the list of teens who got it?
I'm 14 and I got the "joke"
harhar - menace303, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WTF are 12 and 13 yr olds doing up this late? humbug!
- jhaven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0whats with all the hating in the comments?

- ,,|,_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"How'd that happen? The odds are astronomical."
No more likely (or unlikely) than any other random number... Any poker player will tell you that. - imajilon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm 52 and I got it. Oops, wrong thread . . . sorry.
- jj555298, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The apocalypse is nigh....
- Quantic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hahah damn im geeky. Good stuff though.
- fenix25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0very clever
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How'd that happen? The odds are astronomical.
- timewarrior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Microsoft >> former geek
Google >> pretender geek
Apple >> unintentional geek - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lets go to mac world meet u at the front gates at 13:37
- empty01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, I'm a geek. Started with Intel on the successor to the 8086 when the 286 was new. Can't remember what it was designated as, I just know it was a hand-me-down from an uncle who upgraded.
+DIGG - magog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Um is there any more to get than the 8086 being the early Intel chip that most PC based computers have descended from.
Granted, it's a cool coincidence that apple's closing price on the day they officially released their Intel based computers was $80.86 but anyone who says stuff like, "oh no, i got it I'm a geek." Truly is deluded. No one is impressed if you got the reference be u unborn or dead. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0interesting
- mightymouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'm glad that i didn't get it until wikipedia came to the rescue
