- Eslamicolt3, on 11/14/2007, -5/+10013" is not ultra-portable. It's a macbook
- KeepSwinging, on 11/14/2007, -3/+82Am I crazy or does Apple already have a 13-inch notebook and has had one out for quite a while?
- kevinmotel, on 11/13/2007, -3/+61thats what she said
- Kyan, on 11/13/2007, -8/+45This is my dream machine: Give me LED backlight A5 size carcass, with 64GB flash drive NOT spinning, 2GB RAM, no optical drive, a great battery and of course wifi.
Furthermore, I want it to be a tablet which I can carry in a third-party leather folder that when opened "book-ways" will give me portrait display and when opened "as a laptop" (turning the binder away from you and opening the "lid" which will have an extendable stand holding the tablet at a good viewing angle) I get regular landscape viewing and can easily use my compact, perhaps foldable wireless keyboard and mouse and maybe speakers.
The folder will fit in a nice carrying case which will have room for a USB/firewire external drive and USB optical drive and Apple USD modem, extra battery and cords.
This way I can do all my real work in my hotel room and carry a very slim touch-screen tablet (I don't mind it making use of a stylus) when I visit clients.
That's what I want. Digg if you want one, too. Rather than digg me down if you don't, add your comment and save the Digg count for people who share my dream. It would be interesting to see how many there are. I admit I may be alone. - weizilla, on 11/14/2007, -5/+39and all I want are a supermodel wife, superman powers and infinite money
- 5hocker, on 11/14/2007, -5/+34this rumor is getting old
- bigbadgoat, on 11/13/2007, -5/+29you realize the macbook, while being 13" instead of 12, is significantly slimmer, and arguably more compact and portable?
- OwdenBowden, on 11/13/2007, -4/+26that's because he is trying to retrieve his Naughty and Nice list from his Vista PC...
- chrissyk1227, on 11/13/2007, -6/+27Looks like Santa's coming late this year....
- o0adam0o, on 11/13/2007, -3/+22Well i think ultraportables end at 12"
- warped, on 11/14/2007, -11/+30If it bares the the Pro label it is unlikely that it will be had for less than $2k. Apple stuff is expensive.
- rudy23, on 11/13/2007, -2/+20uh macs are pc's too
- qpdb, on 11/14/2007, -8/+26This sounds perfect for me as long as it's $1600 or less.
- shawnanigans, on 11/14/2007, -0/+17All I want is it to be less in CAD than USD.
- gregm11, on 11/13/2007, -5/+21touchscreen, touchscreen, touchscreen....
- iChainsaw, on 11/13/2007, -1/+16WTF SPOILER ALERT????
- Ireland, on 11/13/2007, -1/+13I tried it, nothing happened!!
- tnoy, on 11/13/2007, -1/+12If i want a 15" screen, Apple forces me to purchase hardware that is excessive for my needs. I dont need a 120GB harddrive, 2.2GHz, or a fast video card in my laptop, but I need the bigger screen. I can get exactly what I want from Lenovo for around $500 less than what Apple offers.
- rudy23, on 11/13/2007, -3/+13they will have tough compettion from the lenovo X series which range from $800 to 1600
- ghinch, on 11/13/2007, -3/+12So he should call you on your iPhone then?
- ncaauwe, on 11/13/2007, -1/+9But he said he missed the iBook, that didn't have "Pro" in its name either. Hell, NOTHING had "Pro" in its name UNTIL the MacBook Pro. Having said that I too would dig a 13" MacBook Pro. I'd buy it...
- mwalker05, on 11/13/2007, -0/+7your dream machine sounds like it came out 3 years ago
- Ireland, on 11/13/2007, -0/+7No he's coming twice next year.
- alihahd, on 11/13/2007, -4/+11@ MadOgre
A USB optical drive will take care of the occasional need to pop a disc in. I, for one, would love a more portable MBP (I'd prefer a 12", but c'est la vie) and wouldn't mind sacrificing the one time a month I actually have need for the DVD drive until I could get home and plug the drive in. - charliehorse55, on 11/13/2007, -2/+9Wrong. Infromation is increasing going towords internet and flash based media.
In 7 years, almost all CDs and DVDs will be gone. Movies will be downloaded over a fast internet connection. - ghaerdon, on 11/13/2007, -0/+7I'll Digg it when it's a "ultra portable" 13" iTouchBook!
- JamesMorris, on 11/14/2007, -4/+10We're talking about apple here, they will keep you using wanktastic graphics cards forever.
- robbh66, on 11/13/2007, -0/+6As much as you'd like, a PSP will never be a substitute for a computer.
- raptordrew, on 11/13/2007, -1/+7Please tell me you're being sarcastic...
- wrenchone, on 11/13/2007, -6/+11Wait, no optical drive built in? Did I read that right?
- apotropaic, on 11/13/2007, -1/+6Enough said...options = better.
- inactive, on 11/13/2007, -0/+5lol apple and their "features"
- Linh, on 11/13/2007, -1/+6that's a pretty lame argument. the PSP is completely different market segment.
I don't mind that there's no built in optical drive, as for work purposes, I rarely would need it. What I don't want to see is some ridiculous $150 option for an external one. But if this ultra portable is real, then no doubt it will cost at least that. - inactive, on 11/13/2007, -2/+6IT'S A CARRYALL!
IT'S EUROPEAN! - exomni, on 11/13/2007, -1/+5You carry a >13" diagonal purse??... I think they call those "briefcases" when they get that riddiculously ***** big.
- MikeCerm, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4This rumor was old when I heard it last year.
- inactive, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4If the price is as expensive as the Sony's ultraportable VAIO then you are screwed because those babies gonna cost you a testicle.
- tizz66, on 11/13/2007, -1/+5Maybe, but when Morgan Stanley start writing reports on unannounced products, I'd take that as a fairly good sign that product will soon be announced. They know what they're talking about - it's what they do.
- scyon, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4I apologize for trolling, but I think you may want an easy to carry desktop PC running Windows.
- Kyan, on 11/13/2007, -2/+6Amen. I'm waiting for a nine incher.
- colincornaby, on 11/12/2007, -1/+4I'm not sure I understand. You want computer manufacturers to start using UMD media? Yeah, great plan...
- robbh66, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3It still wont be a substitute. Ever. The Nokia tablets have tried this already. The consensus: they're not a substitute.
- mrsteveman1, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3And fixing stuff, you know like reinstalling the operating system. Target disk mode can only get you so far.....They want to drop the optical drive to make it more thin, and will make a lot of things impossible in the process.
People said that about the floppy drive because we had CDs, not because they just got old. - Kyan, on 11/13/2007, -1/+4Dude, YOU open the folder. And it contains a tablet, not a laptop.
- imdeanlabouty, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3You ***** fanboy.
- cakerun, on 11/13/2007, -1/+3That sounds crazy to me.
Where did you get that preposterous hypothesis? - znicket, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2Sounds reasonable. A new MacBook Touch would be a great addition to the lineup and given that the Leopard Cover Flow Finder seems ideal for finger browsing... Hell, why not?
- rowlodge, on 11/13/2007, -1/+3i hope its not white...have white ibook ,never wanted that color.
- Torv, on 11/13/2007, -2/+4What do you mean wanktastic? Is that a positive or a negatve?
- spade, on 11/14/2007, -1/+3Well, with the stronger CAD why don't you guys come down the border and buy one. We Americans love your money.
