- soundboy64, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39God, Spymac has really gone down the crapper...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+38Ha, the PC looks like a teletubbie.
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -11/+43"enjoy!"
Enjoy an ad? Come on now, I don't like to use the word "fanboy" but this is starting to go a bit far ;)
BTW, how do I see the ad? I clicked on the duggmirror link but I still can't find a link to the video. - Maxtrosity, on 10/12/2007, -18/+44nobody gives a ***** about your less digged dupe
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Nice stereotypically balding tech support guy.

How can anyone think the new one is better? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Sir John Anthony Pople?
He died in 2004.
But he was a great Mathmetician. - benijuana, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16john hodgman is the reason why i love these ads. anyone who hasn't already should definitely get his book on itunes.
- cruppel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17You know I'd digg him down but at least his link worked..
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Just saw this during 24.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18And how exactly could you *fit* another drive into a mac mini?
- r00tus3r, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17So only macs have built in cameras? It's so sad that the uneducated public will eat this garbage up.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17From someone that's never been on top of anything bipedal.
- quiltmaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12What the hell is wrong with you?
- 13tongimp, on 10/12/2007, -14/+24Wow, way to stick it to the PC owners. Upgrades....the fact that I can easily modify, customize, and add on to the machine I built myself is such a drawback.
Whatever. Wake me up when Macs break that 10% installed user base milestone. - nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11what's a pople?
- BionicAntboy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13Script for the next Mac/PC guy ad...
PC: "Oh Mac guy, you've convinced me with you're scruffy hipness."
Mac: "I knew you'd come around, PC guy. Now kiss me."
PC: "What???"
Mac: "Sorry, that must be the soy talking."
These ads should really be shelved when they're about integrated webcams. I mean, there's plenty of Windows laptops with integrated cams. As for desktops... well I prefer my cam NON-integrated. It certainly made aiming it into my living room easier. - BionicAntboy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11"I wonder what people who do not care about computers really take away from these ads?"
Why the ***** doesn't the PC guy just beat the ***** out of the Mac guy? :) - inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I noticed this yesterday on Apple's site. Spymac, as usual, is full of it.
The credibility of Spymac should always be suspect. They are the ones who published the infamous iWalk hoax videos. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -21/+28I wonder why they didn't chose to upgrade something a little more important, like say, a nice shiny 8800GTX video card or something.
Oh, wait!
You ***** can't upgrade a mac to one of those!
How about adding an internal HDTV capture card. No luck for mac there either.
Hmmm, adding an extra hard drive into a mac mini? Still no joy.
***** these ads piss me off. When they start telling the whole story then perhaps I'll not change the channel as soon as one comes on. - wilhoitm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I wonder what people who do not care about computers really take away from these ads? I would love to know somehow!
- colincornaby, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9"I wonder why they didn't chose to upgrade something a little more important, like say, a nice shiny 8800GTX video card or something."
I guess Apple puts in those 16x PCI Express slots on their towers just to take up space then.
"Oh, wait!
You ***** can't upgrade a mac to one of those!"
Oh wait! You're a moron who has no idea what he's talking about!
"How about adding an internal HDTV capture card. No luck for mac there either."
No, you're just a moron again.

"Hmmm, adding an extra hard drive into a mac mini? Still no joy."
Oh great. That's a real awesome plan. Are you telling me that PC's can violate the laws of physics and somehow make room for another hard drive in a tiny case while the Mac can't do that? I see you're a real genius.
"***** these ads piss me off. When they start telling the whole story then perhaps I'll not change the channel as soon as one comes on."
Oh, no, don't worry. You're a lot more stupid than the ads. - jgreene777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6marked as lame because the new spymac sucks...
- astrosmash, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8> these Commercials are for people who do not know the difference between a USB and a power socket.
In other words, 90% of PC users. - zip22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6why does that mean they can't be funny or entertaining?
- ResonantToe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Guys, the comments here are a priceless read.
You take your computing lives far to seriously in defense either for or against mac/windows. Take your pick.
They're ads right. They're amusing and they're trying to sell a product. So of course they have to make themselves seem good.
You Pc guys.. What do you want? Apple to produce an ad saying "Oh yeh look we're not that great in comparison to a PC, because you can upgrade PC's and screw around on the inside and have all kinds of third party hardware?" Where is the marketting sense in that
But what I really don't understand is if you get so urked by this kind of ***** is why you read it in the first place. I mean do people like getting pissed off.
Moreover I think that its a large case of Bored middle class syndrome where the highlight of the day is flying off tap at some moron you've never met before.
And yes I realise the hypocracy in this statement, but as always.. I don't care :P (Cause I'm bored :P)
But I love the word Fanboy right, its so mind ***** useless of a word. Cause reality is that we are all just On-screen Commandos. Faced with this kind of argument in real life, you'd fold faster than a strip poker player in his underwear.
Oh and one more thing.. Stated at the end of your post that you're predicting to be Dugg down because of your comments doesn't make the people digging you down any less wrong or right in their opinions...
It just makes you stupid because even though you knew everyone was going to hate it, you posted anyway ;-) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6You mean the iSight. Technically, they are still making it. Only now it is embedded within the hardware.
Rumor has it future Monitors will also have them installed for those of us with Mac Pros and Mac Minis - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7What's sadder, the people arguing or the person doing an eight page analysis of them?
Or... me for reading that. :( - naiku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5yep saw it during 24. not really unpublished, since a lot of people have seen it
- johnpaul191, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4couldn't say... neither will load.
- Tatusmi, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11lol sockpuppets for the win.
- zip22, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10do these ads make you that angry? maybe you're forgetting that the 2 actors are representing systems, not people. i think they are trying to win people over by being funny while pointing out some small niceties their systems have that most PCs don't.
- quiltmaster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6It isnt degrading PCs, it is contrasting Macs and PCs in a way that looks favorable to Macs. That is what ads do.
EDIT Johnpaul got there first. - ArchieAndrews, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@inkswamp:
We're splitting hairs here. Apple did not invent the GUI but they may have improved on it. Fine. How does that mean that MS "stole the GUI idea off them" which was the point I was addressing?
Also, you misread the paragraph you quote if you feel that it means that Apple innovated the clock, calc, folders etc items. Have a good look at that Xerox screenshot before you say that Apple added those to the mix. While they may have added the trashcan and drop down menus, the fundamentals and most features of the first Mac GUI OS were in place on the Xerox desktop also. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8There were a couple of products, yes. But it was Asia, not Europe.
Apple has since changed their building practices to exclude the offending chemicals.
and to the obvious 'Windows rules/Mac blows' numbskull who is going through all the positive Mac comments and digging them down...Grow up. - astrosmash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I was simply responding to the OP's comment about expandability. Further more, if you're that concerned with internal expandability (is it 1987 again?) in this day and age you're probably more interested in building your own PC to play games, or for a Linux server. And if that's what you want a PC for, then I say good on ya, because that's what I need a PC for, too. (That, and Windows development) However, I need a laptop for a vast array of other things, things that the Mac does very, very well. (It also does Windows development!)
As far as these ads are concerned, they are geared towards the 90% of PC users who are non-technical and don't know anything about computers; the vast, vast majority of whom do NOT have computers with built-in cameras, by the way. People like my parents, and my brother, and your parents; Average people who run Norton and Ad-aware and have continually experienced problems with their PCs over the last 3 or 4 years. - ArchieAndrews, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7@meatmcguffin:
...as much as I hate to join these arguments, I have to comment. The GUI was not an Apple invention.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_graphical_user_interface - MOGua, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The camera built-in to my ASUS W5F can be flipped 180 degrees; No crappy mirror mod needed. I use it all the time to show my dog in video conferences, it's perfect.
I also own a C2D iMac with built-in camera, but I rarely use that one. - johnpaul191, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7degrading? somebody is a little uptight. it is just a TV commercial. if the folks at Microsoft can deal with it, maybe you can too.
besides, if you look at history, Microsoft didn't "bail out Apple" like you imply. they made in investment in a market they make a killing from. Microsoft still sells a lot of software to Mac users (Office etc). if Apple went away overnight, a lot of those users would be lost to *Nix. that means $0.00 for Microsoft. Apple existing also has been used as a defense in the anti-monopoly trials. if there was not a solid 2nd option, then it would have been a lot worse for Microsoft.
if you have not figured it out, Apple and Microsoft can work together. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates do not throw rocks at each other's houses. grow up. - meatmcguffin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"We're splitting hairs here. Apple did not invent the GUI but they may have improved on it. Fine. How does that mean that MS "stole the GUI idea off them" which was the point I was addressing?"
I never said Apple invented the GUI, i know they didn't, but Apple traded stock for ideas and therefore the GUI metaphor legally became their intellectual property.
Microsoft copied Apple's version of the GUI almost verbatim leading to the "look and feel" law suits. Microsoft stole it from Apple as they paid nothing to Apple and went nowhere near Xerox. - quiltmaster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5People who don't care about computers go:
"Why the hell is that person pretending to be an apple?" OR
"What does PC stand for" (Think the Bible Belt /stereotyping) - 35263526, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah, being able to upgrade my computer thanks to an open architecture and multiple device creation avenues... What a bummer...
- MASH007, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Look, Apple is a bitter sweet company.
I love how they create awesome devices (i own an iPod) that make competing companies become more competitive and sweat for consumers. And I love some of the software they create, but I dont agree with there building ethics.
Apple is way to restrictive on there products. There Macs can rarely be upgraded, there software only works on there machine, there devices only work with there software. It reminds of somethings that has the exact same purpose: DRM. and who likes DRM?
Apple, I like how you create a competitive market, but whats holding you down is your obsessive restrictiveness that shuns Open Source and development. That is why I will always prefer building a custom computer, than buying a Mac. - noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@therealduckie
Hey man, the Pokemon forums can get pretty hardcore... - PhantomBantam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Perhaps there is a market for poorly executed myspace/youtube/flickr websites. I thought after version 3 they lost it, but the way they've tried to make it "web 2.0" just adds so many layers of crap.
- astrosmash, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6The Mac Pros have user-replaceable video cards. Plus 4 drive bays, 8 DIMM slots, and 4 PCI express slots. But whatever, this ad campaign has clearly made you sensitive and upset.
Not to mention, owning a Mac doesn't preclude anyone from building their own beige-box PC that's good for gaming and not much else. - johnpaul191, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4this isn't a leak... it's a freakin commercial.
it has been seen and it doesn't unveil anything special or new.
i expect people to draw their lines in the sand when it comes to Apple + MS, but if you think Apple will sue you for trying to watch their TV commercial (that IS already on TV, just not Apple.com yet) then you're nuts. - bitcloud, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9A non-proprietary tellytubby
