- piznut, on 11/26/2008, -5/+87Those commercials are deceptive, shame on apple for lying in their ads..

- HelAom, on 11/26/2008, -8/+62Advertisements exaggerating content? No way....
- inactive, on 11/26/2008, -6/+57In america they can get away with it. The consumer there routinely has to bend over and assume the position.
Apple especially get a free ride with a lot of their ads and defective products not just because the advertising standards bod there has no testicles but because of the fanboy mania that surrounds apple. Anyone who criticizes apple gets attacked and called names. Very childish.
Jobs has often said that he hates the fanboys as a bit of criticism would make apple a better company but no matter how much they screw up, the fanboys love it and make their excuses for them. - inactive, on 11/26/2008, -2/+53Banning false advertising IS common sense you deluded mactard.
- AnGryTreE, on 11/26/2008, -6/+48And we are all sick about Apple dumping on Vista constantly too! ;)
- robbob, on 11/26/2008, -0/+39Good for them. No iPhone performs like that.
Truth in advertising needs to be celebrated. - EnderMB, on 11/26/2008, -3/+37Let me change that for you:
"Bloody Apple, lying about how good their phone is" - xutopia, on 11/26/2008, -3/+36The accidentally the whole advertisement.
- Korgmeister, on 11/26/2008, -0/+30The ad isn't targeting techno-geeks like us who understand this stuff.
It's trying to bamboozle regular idiots who aren't familiar with Apple's penchant for ridiculous exaggeration. - rlindsley, on 11/26/2008, -14/+44That ad had two things wrong with it:
1) It showed 3G as 'fast'
2) The phone didn't crash at all
The iPhone 3G is the biggest piece of junk I've ever owned. Slow and crashy, that phone is! - pathy, on 11/26/2008, -1/+27Yeah, ***** expecting companies to be honest about their products. They should be allowed to lie through their teeth!
- dinoboy, on 11/26/2008, -2/+25dugg for the use of "mactard"
- inactive, on 11/26/2008, -1/+22If you don't have rules like that, you get advertisements like "Smoking helps clear the throat".
- jumalauta, on 11/26/2008, -4/+24Go go UK! o/
- inactive, on 11/26/2008, -1/+20Duh apple, you cant blatantly lie in your commercials in england like everyone does in north America.
- dullnation, on 11/26/2008, -1/+20There's dumb people in every country. This is a case of the smart people looking out for the dumb people.
- feanix, on 11/26/2008, -2/+21Hey, you guys voted for Bush. Twice. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
- inactive, on 11/26/2008, -1/+19"Really? Must be nice to have nothing more important to do..."
Nope the Advertising Standards Watchdog has nothing more important to do than uphold advertising standards. Imagine that! - mickstephenson, on 11/26/2008, -0/+17Just because it happens all the time doesn't make it right, I just wish they would clamp down on adverts for cosmetics too.
- pattherat, on 11/26/2008, -1/+17I love my iPhone, but the 3G commercials here in Canada exaggerate as well. The speed on the commercial is even faster than my wifi connections on the phone...
- inactive, on 11/26/2008, -2/+16Its not an election. If only 17 people report a robbery should the cops investigate because its not the majority of the population?
Same principle applies. Your fanboy instincts have robbed you of the ability to think straight. - inactive, on 11/26/2008, -1/+141. Apple lies in their ads
2. Apple is one of the most successful companies in the world.
Your plan doesn't seem to be working. - inlovingmemory, on 11/26/2008, -2/+15Goes to show that Apple can't pull the wool over the eyes of the British consumer.
- Keithamus, on 11/26/2008, -1/+14In the UK if your hamburger doesn't look like the one in the picture (or advert) you can ask them to remake it, and they are legally obliged to.
- digitalpencil, on 11/26/2008, -2/+14it's more lying about how good O2's 3G network is but yes.
@kronzdigg: this has nothing to do with 'mommy government' the ASA has a responsibility to vet adverts making outlandish claims and misleading consumers. it's either that or we have to start making [citation needed] stickers and attach them to every billboard just flat-making ***** up. - DemiRonin, on 11/26/2008, -6/+18So a bmw's won't get me hot chicks?
- Virgule, on 11/26/2008, -1/+12What if I thought the iPhone 3G speed were as quick as advertised by Apple but I also understand time constrain?
This poll is flawed. - inactive, on 11/26/2008, -3/+14It will, believe me. You obviously don't have one.
- duckley, on 11/26/2008, -4/+15Yes, but they DON'T ban:
Cosmetics ads, which are 100% lies.
Household detergent ads, which are 75% lies.
Automobile ads, which are 50% lies.
Most other ads which are Worse than the Apple ad. - mrkmrk, on 11/26/2008, -1/+12"The new MacBook runs on one-quarter the power of a lightbulb!"
- inactive, on 11/26/2008, -1/+12Did you even read the article or see the commercial? They repeat "It's really fast" multiple times. This isn't the limitation of a 30 second commercial it is misrepresentation. If they left out the "It's really fast" comments then you may have an argument.
- garryw, on 11/26/2008, -2/+13The truth shall set you free
- Repeater2000, on 11/26/2008, -2/+13Hi, I'm a rooster.
- EnderMB, on 11/26/2008, -3/+14We don't need to be smart, because companies that outright lie about their products never make it past quality control.
- CussinSailor35, on 11/26/2008, -2/+12They should ban it. It's flat-out false advertising.
- judicar, on 11/26/2008, -5/+15BACON!
- Caiman, on 11/26/2008, -0/+9Blame the mactard fanboys for that one.
- dogstylee, on 11/26/2008, -0/+9Yeah us UK consumers will just go and buy anything with a little apple logo on it, in fact, we will queue for 9 days to get it in some cases.
- dullnation, on 11/26/2008, -0/+9*****, mine isn't even that fast over 24Mb broadband with a wifi router. In this case, the slowness is down to the capabilities of the phone.
(I love it but come on, it simply isn't as fast as on the advert.)
Oh and I saw an iPhone ad just an hour ago, they have a little message at the end near the bottom explaining that the video is edited and speeds may vary... - inactive, on 11/26/2008, -5/+13Shut the ***** up fanboy. Apple lied and they got caught. Suck it.
- cmyk, on 11/26/2008, -31/+39Let's conduct a poll:
Who here thought 3G download speeds were as instantaneous as seen in the :30 Apple spot, digg me down.
Who understands real world technology and the confines of representing "speed" in a :30 tv advertisement, digg me up.
I'll be over here, rolling my eyes at the UKs ASA. - glenSM, on 11/26/2008, -0/+8I bet you never been in america then the adverts just lie and over exaggerate. THIS PILL WILL MAKE YOU LOOK GOOD then the guy says no it wont basically really fast or it says it using alot of synonyms in fine print. Thank god I never watch tv viva la internet and bittorrent
- Jeffler, on 11/26/2008, -1/+9You accidently y
- geesamba, on 11/26/2008, -0/+8I love the random pigeon that strolls through at 1:40. Chillin'
- mentalacuity, on 11/26/2008, -0/+8Though I agree consumers should do their own research, for me the larger point here is that as Apple grows they will start coming under much of the same scrutiny that has afflicted other giants like Microsoft and IBM. It is how they will respond to this increased attention that will define them in the future.
- specialK16, on 11/26/2008, -0/+7Agreed, it actually does. It's like an unofficially proven scientific fact.
