- dimplemonkey, on 10/11/2007, -19/+236that's right folks, now we can stop being bombarded by iPhone stories and be bludgeoned with iPod stories. Woo Hoo!
- NeoRicen, on 10/11/2007, -11/+204Ahem, *****. Apple Rumours are always that, rumours, I'm only going to trust Apple.com when something is announced. If the rumours were true even half the time we'd have had a touch iPod a year ago, Leopard would be out, iLife '07 would be out and apple would have a mini-notebook etc. etc.
- hotdrop, on 10/11/2007, -10/+107Somehow they just keep making the ipod more and more desirable
- gr8one, on 10/11/2007, -11/+77Another entry from the book of "Duh", on sale at Obvious Books, located on Predictable Ave.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -14/+75Yeah, and remember when they were predicting Apple would make a phone?
- boris92, on 10/11/2007, -5/+59Sure the ARCHOS is great, if your pockets are the size of a baby elephant
- EBFoxbat, on 10/11/2007, -16/+60Maybe you should stay out of the Apple section. Just a thought.
- CryingWolf, on 10/11/2007, -12/+56OK simple instructions:
1. Click on Profile
2. Click on Profile TAB
3. Click on Manage Topics (next to your picture)
4. Under Technology uncheck Apple
That should fix your problem and you should be good to go. Is there anything else we can help you with today? - Avian00, on 10/11/2007, -7/+39Seriously. Enough with the "Stay out of the Apple section" argument! I, personally, am interested in Apple stories. But there is a LOT more to apple than the iPod and iPhone. If he's anything like me, he WANTS to know what's going on with Apple, but he gets sick of crazy iPod Frenzy that seems to have overpowered the stories with any real substance.
- dmurray14, on 10/11/2007, -3/+35oh no. i made the mistake of buying an archos once, never again.
- accidental, on 10/11/2007, -10/+41No offense but mot people have never even heard of an ARCHOS. I think the burden is on that company to "close the gap" in the marketing department.
- amrush4th, on 10/11/2007, -1/+32All I want is an iPod that auto updates all my podcast feeds without needing to connect to a computer. Give it WiFi and let is start downloading as soon as I walk into my house at the end of they day or anyplace that WiFi is connected.
- dgblackout, on 10/11/2007, -3/+25that's not true. they improved it until computers came into the equation and then put it down the toilet.
- LosingTheFight, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22Sure, make sure pick up a copy of Duke Nukem Forever with them.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23...says the Windows logo person.
- PradaPete, on 10/11/2007, -7/+28I wouldn't want to be seen dead with an ugly brick like that. My iPod serves my taste just fine, even if it doesn't play all your nerdy sexless codecs
- haylcron, on 10/11/2007, -2/+22I am so sick of story titles that are deceptive. The concept of an iPod coming out is a RUMOR, not a FACT yet. When you don't accurately represent the story, you are misleading people. Digg gets viewed by a lot of people and can have some impact on business. Remember when engadget reported a rumor as true (that the iPhone was being pushed back) and Apple's stock fell? This is the same thing.
If it's about getting diggs, trust me, having "rumor" in the title is not going to stop that when "Apple" "iPod" or "iPhone" are also included.
Buried as inaccurate. - StMac, on 10/11/2007, -2/+20Can I buy this along with my iphone nano?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19If nothing else, it would giver the iPod a bigger screen for things like video playback or pictures.
- tzonic, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18I think Apple will make this, not sure when though. Wouldn't it make sense to update a product like this with new features...features that can be found in your popular newly released product (iPhone). If you are buying parts for millions of touch interfaces for the iPhone, why not enjoy lower per unit costs while extending that technology to the iPod as well.
- fishrjv, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Regardless of whether or not this particular website is credible, I believe that this is the next logical step for the iPod. I have a 4G iPod right now, and am still very content with it. Upgrading to a color screen the same size as my B&W is just not necessary for me at the moment. But a major overhaul to the 6G (making it similar to an iPhone, without the "phone" part, and being substantially cheaper) is just what I'd need to be re-excited about an iPod.
- ronmexico, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17How big IS one of those?
- Morphinity, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17Does anyone want a grain of salt? I have plenty.
- atomsforpeace, on 10/11/2007, -4/+17are you serious? the current model's screen is too small to watch anything comfortably and the scroll wheel, while cool at first, becomes one of the most frustrating forms of navigation when you have thousands and thousands of songs (or hundreds of artists) to scroll through.
- migitalwarfare, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15the thing that screams "*****" is the fact that the title claims that Apple will release them in August, but the article says that only the screens will be shipped to the US. On top of that, they piece together speculation from various sources in an attempt to make their story seem concrete.
Buried as inaccurate - DaffyDuck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Steve Jobs is on record saying that if anyone was going to cannibalize iPhone's market, they would rather it be them. They are going to be making money either way and the new iPod will piggyback off the R&D put into the iPhone so there are not as many costs to recoup.
- darkyoshi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12I certainly want to control it with my mind.
- Tippis, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15Rumor has it they will be bundled together...
- Frinkiac, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13Seriously have you ever tried using an archos product? The most horrible interface ever. No less that 3 clicks of some unlabeled button to adjust the volume. And the fact that their innovation around the time of the 1st gen ipods was to carry around an ide hdd.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13Actually, I think the iPhone was more of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Enough rumors come out about it...enough people clamor about it...enough support is shown for an *idea*... and Apple decided to build it.
It's the market at work. There was demand from the public...and Apple supplied the iPhone. - jman8888, on 10/11/2007, -6/+15you dont have To click or read the story
- overbyte, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9not true - the capacity of the iphone is too small to be a decent media player - video is much too big.
the iphone also has no storage capability unlike the ipod - hourog, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Whenever it ships - I'll buy one.
- MadOtaku, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Leopard?
- nolesshabitual, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8wow, taking a bold stand huh? i think its a yes..... or a no
- gforce42, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8You can have the best product ever made, but if nobody knows about it, it's not going to influence anything.
- DanAtkinson, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Um... No.
- DerTeufel, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9I hate to burst everyone's bubble but this is highly unlikely! Apple has stated its goal is to sell 10 million iPhones in 2008. Do you honestly think, with all that they've risked to enter the mobile handset market, they're going to risk cannibalizing the iPhone sales by releasing a device that does almost exactly the same thing minus the phone? It's my prediction that we might not see an iPod update until the end of 2008.
- MadOtaku, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Full front screen and not touch? Are you high? Do you want to control it with your mind?
- lrf2005, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Using the word cannibalise is akin to using a metaphor. It's not literally meaning to eat one of one own's species but is intended to demonstrate the fact that a company's product can eat into another product the same company puts out. So the analogy is the same company represents the same species and the two products represent members of that species population.
- specialK16, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10So because the iPod has a better advertisement campaign, it is better? Great logic there, pal. It might sell more, but that doesn't really make it better. (Look at the Creative ZEN Vision:M, it beats the crap out of the current generation iPod.)
- snipes, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I think they'll actually sell more units and make more money with a touchscreen than an iPhone.
Main reason: There's no 2 year service agreement. Or monthly fee. Or taxes. Therefore, people will be more open to buying it, if the price is reasonable. - Dolomite, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7the specs look good on paper, but Archos are junk. The software hangs about every 10 minutes, the battery life sucks, and it is huge. The interface leaves much to be desired as well. I will never use an Archos again and will never recommend that junk to a friend.
- nickj6282, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Whoo Whoo! Clue train! Last stop you!
- emehrkay, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6im excited. and that excitement makes me respect apple that much more. i am a grown man excited for an ipod(phone) - they definitely have the game on lock.
*salutes apple* - ejhdigdug, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6There's a lot of hardware that's better then the iPod, there always has been and there always will be. The problem isn't the hardware, it's the software. Until someone creates a software that's user friendly as iTunes there will never be an "iPod killer". In the meantime Apple will continue to gain customer loalty and people will continue to buy iPods because they're hip.
- whistlerpro, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5If they open up anything it will be the iPhone. I don't think most consumers want applications on their iPod.
- trunkster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5The date might be wrong but there will be an OSX iPod.
- morninglorii, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6you mean 6-8 months?
