- gatorsrule21, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Only wish Fetch Art was Windows too.
- jmaresca, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13myTunes should be on there.

it lets you grab music from other computers on the network. very useful for file transfer. - Jonnybin123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Damn, why do those all have to be Mac? Does anybody know any Windows iTunes add-ons? Oh, and maybe a .m4p/.m4a to .mp3 converter?
- Phyltre, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13If only this article didn't sound like it came straight from their PR dep't.
Any helper article that starts with "There's no disputing that iTunes boasts an excellent feature set right out of the installation package," then throws in a "to the max," is pretty much guaranteed to be hopelessly biased. - NiLeS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I use iTunes Art Importer ( http://www.yvg.com/itunesartimporter.shtml ). It looks like Fetch does the same thing - select a song/group of songs/album, and automatically get the artwork from Amazon.
You can even run it on *every song* at once, and it gets essentially perfect results! - rabidjester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6iTunes can convert to/from those formats out of the box. Change the default encoding settings > select and right click on the tracks > convert selection to AAC/MP3/whatever.
- kuribo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5All he said was that it didn't help him, but most other users should enjoy it. Why does that warrant criticism? He also made no mention of not listening to mainstream music because of price or the RIAA or anything else, so why even bring up the commercial aspects?
Article subject: some iTunes plugins you might like. His response: not for me, but useful for some. Your rebuttal: indie music sucks, poser, they're greedy and corrupt too. WTF? How is that even relevant? - qpid, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11I use Synergy all of the time and it rocks! It is a must download for everyone using a mac with itunes
- AhmedB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Try tunesleeve, it's the best I found after trying several different other tools...:
http://tunesleeve.googlepages.com/ - TheFoppishRhino, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6or OurTunes, which needs no installation at all:
http://ourtunes.sourceforge.net/ - Caulfield, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4AUDIOSCROBBLER! Not so much an iTunes add-on (it works with many other players), but an awesome music service/community. Flickr for music!
http://www.last.fm/ - noeljohnhoward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3that was supposed to be a reply to macman,
but seriously, SizzlingKeys is awesome! - gullevek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I prefer Sizzling Keys (http://www.yellowmug.com/sk4it/) over Synergy because it creates global key maps for play, pause, skip, etc. I love this very much. Plus it has a floating announcment similar to the growl plugin.
- bkdb9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No, just a parentheses at the end.
- jorgevargas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3that list is upside down....
and if you really want to look at a cool app call synergy http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/
although you need 2 computers side by side. - cantankerous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2x-tunes!!!!
X-Tunes is a free utility to to control iTunes without bringing iTunes to the foreground, or having the iTunes window on screen.
http://www.pol-online.net/index.php?page=freeware
System requirements: MacOS X 10.1, iTunes 2.0.3 - gollo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4amaroK ftw!
(yes I'm aware it doesn't run on windows) - dvgraphics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Volume Logic is a must: http://www.volumelogic.com/
Even though it totally messes with the way songs are mixed, it can make a cheap pair of speakers or headphones sound totally kick-ass. - championchap, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7i clicked the link, thinking id find something mucho cool.. but no such luck, im afraid im one of very few iTunes users who dosnt listen to commercial music.
Untill you find independant artists like Lemon Demon on Amazon, then FetchArt really wont help me at all.
Damn.. good link though, for must users im sure it will be very helpfull indeed! - DocNo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why? I happen to think that and I'm not promoting anything.
It's called an opinion... - edward301, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2MiniLyrics
http://www.viewlyrics.com
Automatically downloads and synchronises lyrics with the song playing. Works with lots of other media players as well. - kflott, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2When I saw Synergy I was confused at first wondering why it was on an iTunes list... but I was confusing it with the synergy I use: http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/ which shares the same name. (the Synergy from SF is a great app btw.... I bounce between two windows machines and an ibook all day at work, all with the same keyboard and mouse)
- baskervillain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Agreed! Granted, last.fm is mostly the refuge of record nerds but it's still an excellent free service that throws up some interesting statistics about what you _really_ .listen to the most. Not to mention it looks great and the samples on artist pages are super useful for sampling a band quickly.
- natemc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Despite what NiLeS says iTunes Art Importer isn't the same, amazon has changed their album art system and on many albums you end up with a big white border around the images that are smaller than the max size. It used to work semi well.
I used to snag all my album art off the itunes store using http://tpemble.urfbownd.net/itunes/ but that doesn't work anymore. Why apple hasn't introduced a system that puts the album art in when you rip from your CDs with iTunes I have no clue, WMP does and was the biggest thing I liked when I saw media center edition for the first time, it's a pain adding it all by hand when you start out. But once you get your library done it's not so bad when you add a cd only here or there. - nargilamonster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2just right click on the iTunes icon in the dock...pretty much does the same thing
- nargilamonster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1instead of synergy...can't you just right click on the itunes icon in the dock to change the song/get current info..
- gatorsrule21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@AhmedB
Thanks! Tunesleeve worked great! - edge001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i use the amazon album art widget. it does occasionally have the white border around some album covers.
- Jonnybin123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dead URL?
- coolbru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've built a remote control definition for my phone (SE K750i) so that I can use it as an iTunes remote (via BlueTooth) in conjunction with SizzlingKeys. SK rocks.
- Jonnybin123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1To rabidjester: But once they're converted, I need a program to get them back to .mp3 and it'd be really nice if I could convert those damn purchased songs.
- oOLiquidNightOo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Access all of your iTunes catalog online from via web browser & RSS. This is similar to a recent dig but different in the fact that, written in Java, MyTunesRSS is available for any platform that will support Java 1.5 & iTunes. Yes, that means both Windows & OS X Users. Did I mention the part where it's Donationware?
http://www.codewave.de/products/mytunesrss/ - vandy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2well I don't use Synergy, but instead an app much like it called Menuet. Controls all features of iTunes, has skins, runs in the menubar and can download all of my songs artwork
http://specere.net/ - east3rd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Senuti (OS X only) is a decent freeware alternative to iPodRip: http://www.fadingred.org/senuti/
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you just listen to ***** music
- callmejordy265, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4oh, that would deff be why im getting scripts instead of a program.
- slim7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1AXPORT is a great alternative to iPodRip that works on windows since ipodrip is mac only
http://www.itunessdk.com/xport - wpholmes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ugh... C|Net?
I refuse to read anything from that site.
Their "reviews" are nothing but glorified ads. - misfitstoyz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Funny how all the ones on this list are Mac OS X required. I use a beta program call gpal; http://www.gpal.com. It makes quick smart playlist out of your library as well as recommendations of other bands that sound similar to what you like to listen too from garageband.com.
- alej744, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1iPodRip is shareware and always crashes. Senuti is stable, free and has a cool name.
- sinembarg0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@natemc
Windows media player isn't very good with album art. Although it show up in WMP as having album art, it it just a hidden image file in the same folder as the mp3. iTunes embeds the image into the mp3 file, so it will show up on say a psp or another computer, and you dont have to copy the image file thats hidden. - thevanillaspy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2another good, free alternative to synergy is ByteController - http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/ipod_itunes/bytecontroller.html . i was using the trial of Synergy until the lisence ran up, and i find ByteController to be just as good.
- Kokichi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great list, I'm downloading all of these! Thanks!
- Sonic84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they forgot to mention the many visualizers or my favorite add on: Volume Logic
- AhmedB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm finding zillions of programs online that save internet radio but all of the run on Mac OS X, does anyone know of something similar and free that runs on Windows (till I save enuf and buy a Mac)
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1old submission is old
- Stecchino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1SizzlingKeys is good and of course if you already use Quicksilver, then Quicksilver already encompasses SizzlingKeys.
- rabidjester, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Why did this get modded down? Anyway, I second the Synergy comment - one of the few pieces of shareware I've decided to buy in recent years.
- ollyx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0bugger iTunes adons; if you want real customisable; try http://www.songbirdnest.com/ ... OK I understand its not exactly up to scratch with EVERY feature iTunes, in fact its' probably not even enough to call it a media player; but hey with enough support, can't you see this getting as big as firefox; equivalently
