More relevantly, this is a pretty useful page that sums up a lot of different things that have shown up individually on digg over the past few years. - Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Here's a few more I submitted a few weeks ago

- tsunamisteve, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17The 'Anything But iPod' crowd can use them as door stops.
- drizek, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9or put them on ebay and get a real mp3 player...

anyway, i didnt come here to bitch about the ipod, i jsut wanted to see if there actually was anything cool you could do with it. - stevester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4drizek:
so why did you bitch about the iPod? - bloqmon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Too bad thats not the iPod slogan. That is the Mac (as in Macintosh) slogan found on posters at your local library.
- filovirus, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1RAAAAMONE, program my AZT schedule into my iPod.
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Let me guess.
You saw the Caprica (Prequel for BSG) on Digg, Went to scifi.com, and saw this, and decided to use it?- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Who cares how he found out, he posted it... people dugg it. That is the point of Digg, it is a nexus of all these other sites. What so everytime someone posts from a large news sourse you will just say --
"waht oh? so you were just looking at THinkSecret and decided to post"
Yeah a lot of us see the stories before they are on digg, we dont post them, someone else does and they get these diggs from them, dont be so jealous because some people dont read all those sites everyday...

- Ilyanep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The trailrunner thing looks so useful but it's only for Mac :(
- hammydude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mmmmm.....
Black and white doom on my 4g ipod.
Now when people ask what type of ipod I have, I can say its a video ipod! (Although black and white on a tiny screen isn't too fun to watch short clips on, let alone whole movies.)
to install linux on your ipod, go here, nice and user friendly instructions:
http://ipodlinux.org/Main_Page- oddball, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1yeah, i like the photo-shopped pics of doom in color on b&w ipods
- sneakerelph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5actually those iPods did come with a color screen. i have one.
- kwilliam71, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7They forgot to add using your iPod to run slideshow presentations. My clients are usually impressed as hell when I whip out the iPod for my presentations.
- apjoseph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Could you kindly either point out as to how to do this, or a URL as to where I can find out more info on running presentaions from one's ipod. Thanks.
- zigziggityzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Export your slides (either from PowerPoint of Keynote) to JPGs. File > Export.
Then you load the images onto your iPod in it's own album, set it to only advance on click, no music, and there you go.
- Silby, on 10/12/2007, -13/+5My favorite use for an ipod is toilet paper.
- shadowsquall111, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Cool stuff. That dictionary would be handy for english class. "What? a vocabulary quiz! No problem just let me adjust the volume on my ipod. BTW, how do you install Wikipedia?
- drizek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Maybe you should spend less time on your ipod in english and more time practicing READing
- mikevickrocks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I really wish they would've listed iPodWizard (a program to modify your iPod's graphics), but an informative and well-written article, nonetheless.
- skidogallard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I would love the dictionary, but I'm too cheap to spend $10. If only it were free...
- nerdbaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.mininova.org/tor/283643
Remember this is for informational purposes only. - Scape3d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Awesome. Thanks Nerdbaby.

- Invader02, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i got linux on my ipod but then it drains power out so fast that you literally have to plug it in the wall when using it... it's kinda fun though since you can use it as a calculator, word proccessor, or even use paint on it :P.
doom was kinda hard to put on my 5G ipod, I suggest using rockbox to save you from all that hard work...
"to install linux on your ipod, go here, nice and user friendly instructions:"
not really that friendly, you should use the "install on windows" instructions in the forums. - cinder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I heard somewhere (sorry, don't have the link handy) that the iPod hard drive isn't designed to be continuously accessed, so installing Linux on it or Doom is bad for it.
- moley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's just not true.
- cinder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1moley, ah, it may not be true anymore with the iPod video, but it used to be true (found an old article talking about old iPods -- http://www.creativepro.com/story/review/15009.html --).
Toward the end of the article, "The tiny drive inside was designed for performing short reads and writes into and out of its memory buffer. Continuous drive access -- like you'd use to run an OS or play video from a hard drive -- can quickly burn out the drive."
I imagine this would be true for anything pre-iPod photo, but again, that's just a guess.
- calzone, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1#6 Creative Use for iPod: reverse engineer and sell as new Zen
- mateo60, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I have the entire Wikipedia on my iPod, and I'm suprised how much time I can kill with it!
- metalica77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i havn't been on the ipod subway maps site in ages. last time i was there they outlawed the NY subway. so i stoped useing the website. I even thought as far as to put the NY subway maps that i had already downloaded on torrentspy.
- otherland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1With the map feature I can now fulfill my life long dream of openly using a 5th generation iPod on the NYC subway system. As if being White doesn't make one enough of a target you have a shiny white piece of plastic and chrome to complement you.
- sp1ke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Should of added the Google Calendar as well
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pfft. All that and he doesn't even include the iPod Bartender: http://www.electricstate.com/ipodbartender/
- FunkyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1are there any hacks like this for the vision:m?
- mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Psssh. The real cool things are right here:

Perhaps the girl/guy of your dreams is waiting to be discovered in your pocket right now. With PodDater, eager singles upload short videos along with their profiles that you can downloaded to your video iPod via iTunes. So go ahead, check out Deathscythe, Nastique24, or Kenny, and see if they're right for you. Especially Kenny — he looks like he could really use a hug. Now that you have the ability to judge and dismiss potential mates from anywhere, the future really is here."
:D This article deserves attention for the comedic value alone. Good read for while at work... and interesting things to play around with on iPod when bored. I feel like somehow I'm being redundant, so I'll just stop talking (?) now. - dpogni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2what about listen to music?
- Unknown1987, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1they forgot the best one. beat yourself dead with the iPod for buying an iPod instead of an archos.
- charbarred, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Top 3 uses for an iPod
1. Use it to scrape dirt around the area where your iRiver resides
2. Trade it on eBay for an Archos Gmini
3. Hang it over your bed to remind yourself how stupid you can get sometimes.
