- pplante, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1thats not what he meant by hackable. he meant hackable as in changing settings and apps around like you can on unix.
how hackable something is can mean alot of different things, anything from security to options. - icabod540, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1geek |gēk| noun informal 1 [with adj. ] a person with an eccentric devotion to a particular interest : a computer geek.
I see geeks as someone with a unhealthy addiction to something such as computers or macs or whatever you fancy. So mac geeks still work. My two cents. - kaje, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow... Cmd + Ctrl + D...that one is awesome....
Now how do I get that to work in Firefox.....hmmm - tarun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In the latest issue of Macworld that arrived in my mail like 10 minutes ago.
- Aynatix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want a 15 inch powerbook so bad.. 2k.. its the only thing stoping me!
- alexsan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thats cool for people who have macs. I may get a mac mini :)
- Nieton21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i never thought of using the firewire port, as a network sharing feature...now i can save a minute by not having to restart in target disk mode then restarting again! SWEET
- JetwingX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0kaje, in System Preferences, go to Keyboard & Mouse, click keyboard shortcuts, scroll down to dictionary, and change it to what ever you want
and i knew most of these form playing around. but the stealth and firewall logging was new to me - macattacks10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+03Den, if it is so easily hackable, why hasn't it been hacked yet. Even if there isn't many users, there would be a few people doing it to prove they can. While nothing is invincible, it can't be easy to the level of Windows at all.
- 3Den, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nullspace.. totally untrue. The concept of the macintosh that's un-hackable and untweakable disappeared with OS X. It's easily as hackable and nerd friendly as your ugliest, rawest Unix. They only difference is that underneath it all, your apps are reliable.
"using the underlying BSD system" is not more difficult than "using the underlying linux system" on your gnome desktop. - HesNikke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0yawn
i don't think i saw a single thing in there that i hadn't read or discovered elsewhere - nullspace, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I think the phrase "mac geek" is a oxymoron. Macs definitively remove a lot of the geekyness of computers as it simplifies everything. That is unless you primarily use the BSD backbone then your just a Darwin or BSD geek. That's my two cents.
