- Pliep, on 11/15/2007, -5/+54So okay, a guy gets one electronic device wet, and the complains that is breaks? Then he receives a new one FOR FREE and still comes up with this headline? Sorry, buried for trolling.
- sn00kie, on 11/15/2007, -10/+40DUDE, same thing happened to me. A light splash of water on my phone and the ***** stopped working. And just the other day, I spilled coffee on my laptop AND THAT stopped working. What the hell is up with apple making non military compliant products.....
- jakem1, on 11/15/2007, -4/+25Surely you would expect your phone to be able to withstand a little dampness. For instance, don't you ever make calls in the rain?
- inactive, on 11/15/2007, -0/+15YOU IDIOT! I was shocked at first, only to check the article and see that he biked with it in the rain with a cheap coat.
- telepwn, on 11/15/2007, -3/+15I hate Apple fanboys as much as anybody, probably more,
but since when is one product breaking when it's the product owner's fault front-page news?
Buried. - BubbaChet, on 11/15/2007, -0/+10He admitted that he got it wet. Way to go.
- badjoke, on 11/15/2007, -1/+11Haha. My +1 can't protect you from getting buried, but I tried.
- phlll, on 11/15/2007, -0/+9Why is electronics dying after it gets wet news? The news here is he still got another one for free afterwards.
Plus, the headline borders on flamebait. - apathysucks, on 11/15/2007, -1/+9Dumb customer gets product wet. Product breaks. Dumb customer gets new, replacement product for free. Dumb digger creates trolling story.
Lot's of Dumbs, but Apple doesn't seem to be one of them. - gphoneandroid, on 11/15/2007, -2/+9Ok, Lesson learned. Dont piss on your iPhone
- MrPhultz, on 11/15/2007, -0/+7My iPhone was dropped in a sink full of water. I quickly pulled it out, but it went all the way to the bottom for a second. I dried it off and it has been working just fine.
- soopafly, on 11/15/2007, -0/+6Dugg for "flaccid with rage"
- TheInfernoSin, on 11/15/2007, -5/+11That must suck.
- ericdano, on 11/15/2007, -1/+7Um, dumb. You really expect that getting it wet and it would work fine? Oh, you work for CNET, ok, well, that explains everything then........
- TheLoneWolf071, on 11/15/2007, -0/+6Buried. Sorry, but It's miss leading, I was expecting to read about how after 5 months it "just" broke, not water damage.
- knelto, on 11/15/2007, -0/+6This happened to me two weeks ago. No dampness though, just couldn't get anything on the top two rows. Took it to an Apple Store, instantly replaced. Apparently I was the 2nd person that day with the problem. Got a 10% off coupon too!
- nblsavage, on 11/15/2007, -2/+7uh huh...that must be why my 2nd gen iPod is now on it's 4th owner (all former owners upgraded to newer models) and is still going strong.
- Chow7, on 11/15/2007, -1/+6follow the guide below to try and fix your screen sensitivity
http://limitededitioniphone.com/iphone-touchscreen ... - wilhoitm, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4DUH! This is not Star Wars! Electronics are not meant to work after getting wet! Your iPhone is not R2-D2.
- rossnyc, on 11/15/2007, -1/+5"The clerk who helped me did say that the technology was very new, and that, as an early adopter, I should have expected as such."
Uhmm, yea...he got it wet and it's the first touch phone of it's kind -- ever. I'm sure there are going to be a few bugs to iron out. - ShuttleDisaster, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4ummmmm...why is this guy complaining? he got his phone wet (his own fault) and apple replaces it for free, no questions asked, on its own expense....and he's still whining?
- rossnyc, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4Apple could of said "screw you, it's your fault, gtfo" but this is just another reason why Apple owns...pretty damn good customer service.
- Ballresin, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4Just for the record:
The white box referred to as a 'coffin' in TFA is actually the standard 'Replacement Part' box used for all iPods as well. This does not indicate that the unit is refurbished. I'm not saying it isn't possible. Just unlikely.
Besides, refurbs come in a brown box (from my experience, like a slap on the wrist for being cheap if you buy one online) and the 'Refreshed' iPods/iPhones are clearly marked at the retail stores (they are returned units that go through a thorough refreshment process that includes putting the battery through a number of cycles to ensure good life) and are discounted and sold in the re-tagged retail box.
//Worked at R054, R007 - ChrisLowder, on 11/15/2007, -1/+4stupidest man alive
- Firehed, on 11/15/2007, -0/+3Funny you should mention that, actually. I have my iPhone in the shower all the time, and it has no issues.
Err, not IN the shower. But I don't take it into a different room after removing it from my pants pocket prior to showering. It's been subjected to a steamy room quite often, without any issue. - J3553, on 11/15/2007, -0/+3you mean if i pay good money for something, i have to take care of it too? what the *****? if i drop hundreds of dollars on a fancy piece of electronics, it better cook me dinner an mow my lawn and give me a blowjob if my wife's not home!
sarcasm
...anyway, it's nice to see apple hooked the guy up with a new phone. kudos to them. - NioGyn, on 11/15/2007, -0/+3It's nice to see that despite getting his iPhone water ***** - Apple still took care if him.
Just goes to show you, great customer service just comes with the deal.
...Even for douche bags.
Oh... and that "clerk" could have easily said, "This is out of warranty, I'm not going to replace it, unless you pay for it... now GTFO." - askthellama, on 11/15/2007, -0/+3Who is this tool and more importantly, why do we care what he says on his blog...shoveling for wasting some of my Galaxy time.
- Damian91, on 11/15/2007, -1/+4You mean to tell me I can't take a shower with my iPhone?
- srslyfkd, on 11/15/2007, -0/+3Another bury here. Apple has produced over a million of these things. One of the screens was bound to fail. Thousands are bound to fail at that number. It's just the nature of producing hardware. It's true for Apple. It's true for Sony. It's *really* true for Microsoft (I'm on my fourth Xbox 360).
In short: Bad headline. Troll somewhere else. - J3553, on 11/15/2007, -0/+2i meant /sarcasm. god damn this stupid keyboard! i spent $70 on this thing! it should type for me!
- TheKrillr, on 11/15/2007, -1/+2Ok, so this guy is a dork. But... the iPhone screen does have a problem with dampness. if my fingers are wet in the slightest, screen doesn't respond. AND afterwards if little wetness is left behind, the entire SCREEN doesn't respond to even dry fingers. It's irritating.
- Trebek, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1I sometimes find myself very limp with rage as well.
- luchid, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1Did you even read the article?
- joped, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1You got your phone wet ... what did you expect ?
- danmk, on 11/15/2007, -1/+1So what everyone is saying is that you shouldn't talk on the phone outside if its raining?
really people..
is that what new technology supposed to do.. - Terc, on 11/15/2007, -1/+1And cue the "I can't afford an iPhone, so obviously it's crap and Apple suxors" crowd
TheInfernoSin, you are right though, it would suck to have to get a replacement phone. To be fair, when my Verizon phone died, I was forced to purchase a new one. - dporter6, on 11/15/2007, -3/+3and i'm sure quite a few folks laugh at you, too. just not about money. i'm betting they laugh about your bitterness and body odor. oh well; another ten levels and you'll get a unicorn mount, amirite?
- inactive, on 11/15/2007, -2/+2youre just as big a nerd as anyone on digg, man. deal with it.
- DeepSkyDiver, on 11/15/2007, -2/+2'flaccid with rage' - You do make real Apple Fan Boys look good.
- rossnyc, on 11/15/2007, -2/+2Hey! Get back under your bridge!
- aszymczyk, on 11/15/2007, -3/+3I doubt it was the dampness though... it is more likely that it just happened to happen around the same time.
- inactive, on 11/15/2007, -16/+15I could imagine a Microsoft Fan Boy getting a rock hard erection at seeing the heading of this article and then the subsequent praise for Kevin Ho for writing the article, like he's the second coming of Christ.
And then halfway through the article I can almost feel the fear seeping through the interwebs as Mr. Ho recounts how Apple just changed out his phone and how iTunes synched back all his data so seamlessly and without activation problems. Now the Microsoft fanboy pounds his fist, destroying his keyboard, flaccid with rage.
"That f*cking c*nt rag! Kevin Ho is an Apple fanboy!" - WolverineBlue, on 11/15/2007, -2/+1iPhone haets water.
