- tooslickvan, on 10/12/2007, -8/+122Don't get your hopes up. Mac OS Rumors is among the least reliable mac rumor sites. It's fun to read to see what people want to be true but most of it never becomes reality.
- Chakz, on 10/12/2007, -9/+112Pics or it isn't happening.
- colincornaby, on 10/12/2007, -12/+85This is Mac OS Rumors. These people are so inaccurate it wouldn't surprise me if they wrote Bush's Iraq WMD report.
- Quix, on 10/12/2007, -3/+48"Don't get your hopes up. Mac OS Rumors is among the least reliable mac rumor sites"
Agreed. Anything from Mac OS Rumors should be automatically marked Inaccurate and ignored, with extreme prejudice.
I'm still waiting for the "Ultimate Gamer Edition iMac" with the Radeon X1900 that Mac OS Rumors promised would be out last spring.
Even I can make up better rumors than those clowns. - rodrigomuniz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+33please, back here with a apple.com link
- knowall, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28To echo what everyone else is saying...
MacOSRumors makes stuff up. literally. it's well known to do so.
And it should not be confused with:
MacRumors.com
MacOSXRumors.com - matperk, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30In the MBP, they had trouble with fitting everything in, that's why in the original model they couldn't have a DL DVD burner. So how are they going to fit in so much more in a 12" model with it still being "thin"?
- dajebus, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2840 Diggs and the site is dead...?
(slow clap) oh bravo... - Jake2, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26Dugg down for innaccuracy.
- Tonydev, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Aside from the stated above, I've become increasingly frustrated with the blatantly inaccurate or misleading titles of stories being submitted.
"The NEW "MacBook Thin" Revealed - SPECS INCLUDED"
There really should be an indication that this a RUMOR, or SPECULATION. - PleaseJustDie, on 10/12/2007, -7/+25OH cool ANOTHER headline WITH half THE words CAPITALIZED. i WILL definitely HAVE to READ this ONE.
- FearlessFreep, on 10/12/2007, -18/+33No 'cause then they would've said the WMDs were in Redmond
- sqwerty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15wow..after i read the title, all i did was go to apple.com...inaccurate title and source
- MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19Apple might eventually release a more portable MBP, but those specs are ridiculous. Such a computer would be impossible to make. Compare those specs to what is currently in production (ultra-portables from Lenovo, HP/Compaq, and Gateway). Ultra-portables generally do not have optical drives. If you're going to get 8 hours of battery life, you need the space for the battery, and you have to use Intel's ULV processors.
If it was possible to build a computer with those specs, they'd already be in the MacBook.
Fake, fake, fanboyism. - matt9m5, on 10/12/2007, -9/+22http://www.duggmirror.com
if DM hasnt cached it- google.

but still inaccurate and unconfirmed. - falafeljack, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13google cache

Nice job - Dolomite, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12MacOSRumors.com???? Oh come on! That site has been the laughing stock of the Mac community for at least the past 10 years... they never have gotten a prediction right... I remember when they were predicting 12-sided Tetra-hedron enclosures for the new PowerMacs... oh yeah, they had insider confirmation on them too.
- DBiz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13How in the hell did this get dugg to the front page?
Did anyone click on the link and see the big RUMORS word staring you in the face?
Did you guys hear about the Apple console that turns into an iPod, can be used as a DS, watch, calculator, soda fountain machine, and Wii, all with the press of a button on your MacBook Pro?
Inaccurate. - Kickm3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Hey, at least Digg succeeded where Apple failed : taking a rumor site down in just a few hours.
- drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I owned a powerbook G4 and it never overheated. However the macbooks had major heating issues when they were first released but they have been taken care of. The point I was making is that why would Apple want to take it even further. If you actually see the specs posted on their site then you will notice that they are simply unbelievably unrealistic. I mean a Core 2 Duo 2.33 Ghz with a 120 GB Sata HD all while have up to 12 hours of battery life. The specs speak for themselves.
- drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Reality check... Do people really expect Apple to make a thinner laptop considering how the macbooks already had heating issues. Apple rumors never cease to amaze.
- readme, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10It's probably true seeing how my MacBook just arrived today :/
- Radan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Actually I find MacOSRumors a very reliable source. Whatever they say, I KNOW it's fake and is not going to happen anytime in the next 5-10 years, if ever.
I'm still worried about the day that MacOSRumors will write about how the earth ISN'T about to get blown up by some annoyed alien species. - audiocollective, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7digg mirror is really starting to suck... i doesn't get most of the front page stories any more! whats up with that?
- combatchuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Generally speaking, any speculation that comes out of the Mac rumor sites is inaccurate. So you're both right.
- plgonzalez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I call shenanigans!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Use the Coral chache.
- Captaintripps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5They don't even tell us how thin it's supposed to be...but they have all the OTHER specs. Lame.
- kentborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It would be cool if Apple would finally reenter the small notebook market.
But don't say the specs are impossible. Apple has clever people working there--and it has kinda been done before. I am typing this on a Panasonic CF-W4, it is very similar to the specs criticized here as impossible:
- Mine has a full PCMCIA card, this notebook is supposed to have a smaller slot.
- Mine has a VGA connector, this notebook is supposed to have a smaller connector.
- Mine gets 6+ hours of battery life (under Linux, if I am just reading or typing) and there is a newer model that does even longer, this notebook is supposed to be similar.
- Mine has a writable DVD drive, this notebook is supposed to be similar.
- Mine has a 1.3 GHz CPU, this notebook is supposed to be much faster--but these CPUs are slowed down when all that speed isn't needed, so in light use it might be usable on batteries.
- Mine weighs less than 3 pounds, I bet Apple's (if it exists) is heavier. Thin is weaker than thicker and this rumored machine has a bigger screen than mine. I bet it gains weight to be strong enough.
The specs are *very* believable technically, but is Apple interested in this market that they have ignored for years? Maybe not, Steve hasn't seemed too motivated up until now.
-kb, the Kent who might very well buy one--if it ever exists. - Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10Obligatory "how did this rumor/blog crap make front page with only 39 diggs?!" comment.
Oh right, it's about Apple... - Terc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Thanks for the Mirror matt9m5,
Don't digg him down. And I'm not sure why the harassment was necessary JuyLe, maybe you should try providing a mirror that works instead of bashing people that are actually contributing something useful to the comments. - alex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The same story is on the more reputable MacOSXRumors.com
http://macosxrumors.com/articles/2006/11/17/sources-confirm-plans-for-a-smaller-ultra-thin-form-factored-macbook-pro - halik, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Hmm pretty neat if true, though everytime apple makes ultra-something, it's ultra-expensive as well...
- drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9More proof that digg users digg articles before reading them... meanwhile I get dugg down for mentioning factual past experiences because Apple fans (even though I am one) don't want to hear it. Some things never change...
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm going to bet that this turns out to be a thin tablet rather than a thin laptop.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5murphy's law never fails...
- panique, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6MOSR is the lunatic fringe of the Apple Rumor Mill. Bury and move along.
- Vezran, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4bull...bury it, kids.
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@DBiz
Isn't that the iPhone? - KyleMistry, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5"Revealed" my ass. Use that word when it's on Apple's website.
- FearlessFreep, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9It's the iCarumba! ...or maybe just the iKid
- thispleasesme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Impossible. I don't doubt a "macbook mini" but it wouldn't have those specs crammed into them. Even Apple couldn't do it at this point in time.
Bury because it's nonsense, wishful thinking at best. - Jozer99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is BS. The specs they quote are identical to the 15" MB Pro. How do they propose to put all that into a something 2/3 the size? The processor is especially unrealistic, since the MB Pros already run hot, how do they put the same processor into a computer with a smaller heat sync? Plus, the battery life actually gets LONGER? Thats great.
- kilps, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9DuggMirror appears not to be working ... ah Google is for once ... http://209.85.135.104/search?hs=sUq&hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&q=cache%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.macosrumors.com%2F20061210-1A.html&btnG=Search
opps someone beat me to it, digg down if you so please ;) - bluemist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The specs are possible except for the dedicated graphics. I am in the market for an ultraportable, and I see many of the 12.1-inch offerings have nice Core 2 Duo specs. But cramming a dedicated video card would seem impossible, but then again, it's Apple.
Still, this is rumor until I see more proof. - griz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5WooHoo, Speculated/Rumored Specs Included!!!
- knowall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This is because the site literally makes up everything they post... and people who don't know about the site (like yourself) believe it.
- eleven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah - I don't believe this one bit.
I'm sure apple will come out with a smaller macbook pro, but if they really want to hit the "ultra-compact" size they should dump the optical drive and finally release an 802.11n (activated) system. All it needs is a decent resolution small screen, good batter and plenty of storage storage space and lots of networking options. People buying these will probably have a desktop system anyways. -
