- h0f5, on 10/10/2007, -1/+84In all fairness, the Wikipedia article is much more comprehensive and detailed.

... What? - alabamasucks, on 10/10/2007, -8/+51If Steve Jobs is God, this would be Jesus
- andrew522, on 10/10/2007, -5/+47I'd have enjoyed a more in-depth article, but this is an interesting bit nevertheless.
- bradpurchase, on 06/12/2008, -10/+42What can I say, he's a genius.
- Cloud7654, on 10/10/2007, -4/+33"This man is the reason I touch myself at night."
Because all his porn is on his Mac. - purplepeople, on 10/10/2007, -1/+25only three paragraphs and it gets to the front page of digg?
- pixelsoup, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16WTF? Bland text lifted from some lame bio?
- ZiggityZhang, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18SO this is the genius who designed the iMac hockey puck mouse we all know and love.
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -1/+15You ever tried making things that look plain and simple, yet are aesthetically elegant and pleasing to the eyes?
It's not as easy as it sounds. - arizonagroove, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13"...Apple PCs..."
Hey look a person who understands that the letters PC do not mean 'Microsoft Windows'. If only there were more like you.
I wish the iMac had more USB ports and that they were on the side along with the optical drive and not on the back. It's far more effort than it need be using a USB flash drive on an iMac because it's so awkward to get to the USB ports. - Ebacherville, on 10/10/2007, -5/+17Apple does have the slickest design out there.. I do wsh some time they inccluded small things like more ports.. but for the most part Apple PCs are the best machines design and hardware wise on the market.. at least sincethe intel switch.. The ability to run anything is awesome!
- JBSherman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Well he is compensated £1,000,000 a year plus stock options, so I don't feel bad for him.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historicity_of_Jesus
"Most scholars in the fields of biblical studies and history agree that Jesus was a Jewish teacher from Galilee who was regarded as a healer, was baptized by John the Baptist, was accused of sedition against the Roman Empire, and on the orders of Roman Governor Pontius Pilate was sentenced to death by crucifixion. A very small minority argue that Jesus never existed as a historical figure, but a purely symbolic or mythical figure syncretized from various non-Abrahamic deities and heroes." - mal1964, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10All of that for the company, and he cant even take a vacation over the holidays.
- tehWyman, on 08/19/2009, -13/+21But Jobs and Ive both exist...
- KibibyteBrain, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8And a Knight Commander of the British Empire, by order of the iPod's least stereotypical fangirl, the Queen.
- Cooperjones, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Ive was knighted by the Queen for his Mac designs, as well.
The man who designed the iMac, G4 Cube, G4 Titanium Powerbook, iPod, etc., etc. I am in awe.
"Excellent work brings you before kings" God wrote the proverb for Jonathan Ive. - thushan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7iGenius / iLegend
iNeedToGetALife:-) - aliguana, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I saw him outside an Apple store once. Unless it was one of them-there visions... hold on, don't tell anyone, or they will all be making pilgrimages to Apple stores, making long queues outside, and hoping the divine one inside will cure all their ills, make them better people, bring peace and love to the world, men and lions living together, until they all get taken up in the keynote-rapture. Oh wait... they do that already
- Strokemouth, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9I'm curious how many of these designs were actually his own brain children. Even that article mentions his close-knit team of designers. I'm sure they've had a lot to do with these designs, but Ive gets all the credit. Don't get me wrong, I get as much of the teste-tingle as the next Mac fanboy when new designs come out, but I find it hard to believe they ALL stemmed from this one guy.
- blahtastic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I like turtles... But not you, Captain Crappy Comments.
- TheWorm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Considering a good number of people who are interested in Apple know who Jonathan Ive is, a more in depth article would have been nice.
- Billions, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Agreed... Digg, by the "democratic" nature of it, can put some interesting things in the spotlight, but also tends to have the worst, lowest-common denominator taste. And then some excited Apple nut will probably resubmit this Monday morning, without even searching beforehand.
I mean, I'm an excited Apple nut myself, but I definitely know how to use the 'search' function! - Myrddin5, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5He didn't just design the stuff, he (and of course his team) also made sure it could be produced industrially. Look at the cube for example; the case is just one piece of plastic (or whatever). Nobody did anything like this before. Or the case of the Powermac, which basically consist of one frigging piece of aluminum.
- abwesth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Try reading the spotlight article on Steve Jobs - very objective.
Yes, I am fascinated by Apples products too, but this site and article is downright awful. - noblepenguin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I believe that's industrial design. But minimalism definitely comes into play. Look at the iPhone. Only one button, down to the absolute necessities. And it still manages to defeat most other products for its ease of use and simplicity.
- blahtastic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I rather like the spinoff minimalist designs that came as a result of this (as I was never really into apple computers and iPods seemed flimsy for my tastes). My Wii, DS, and JBL Creature II's thank this man.
- iticu, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Give me proof he existed.
- adooga, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4True, and non mac-heads couldn't care less. Next indeed.
- TiceHH, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I would prefer an article about Cesar Carrera. Don't know who he is? It's the guy who designed the aqua GUI and all the cool icons.
- blahtastic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4The proper term probably isn't minimalist... I'm no designer, and as such, IDFK. But whatever defines smooth, clean, and simple is what I'm talking about.
- gfixler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3"Working closesly with Apple’s co-founder, Steve Jobs, Ive developed the iMac."
That messed with my mind. I thought they forgot to use quotes when quoting him, made a typo with the missing apostrophe, and that he was a bit of a name dropper. Then I realized his last name is "Ive." - iamjaredc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3just remember, Ive only takes credit for the pretty outerparts. you can blame the insides on the engineers =)
- iFungus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I dunno, a million people?
- quamb, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Why? It's not that hard to believe at all. And would explain the rumors of his salary being RIDICULOUS.
Kubrick had writers, producers, makeup artists etc etc around him - but we still give him the credit for his films. - antitab, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3At least it's not a woman flexing under herself :x
- aliguana, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5nope. Underneath the shiney J.Ive exterior, its just the same as that Dell over there *points*.
- not1butme, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4I curse the man who designed the Power Mac G5. Swapping out parts in a desktop should not be that difficult. Ugh, the amount of blood I've lost and the curse words I've spewed taking apart his designs. Don't get me started on the take apart issues of the G4 PowerBooks.
- motoyen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2What did he work on at Apple before Steve came back?
- squidi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2this is the genius you fanboys should be worshipping, not mr big business steve jobs.
- sargentr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3so hes the one we can thank for excessively easily scratched backings on ipods and no physical volume control on the touches.
other then that hes done an awesome job making things look really clean. - richardhenry, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2So, a genius then?
- FHKE, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Jonathan is great, but this article is lame!
Read this: http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/06_39 ... - resplence, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Only 1 million pounds a year? There are television hosts who contribute nothing of value to the world who earn more than that in a month. Damn I would ask for a raise.
- resplence, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I agree, but it's still an improvement that it's not being fully credited to Steve Jobs anymore, as if Steve is even a designer or something.
- resplence, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3In all fairness, though, even Apple likes that distinction to be made, with their "I'm a Mac vs. I'm a PC" campaign.
- vfx2k4, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Talented guy but not exactly newsworthy- most Mac heads know who this is already. Next...
- Quix, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Two-fingered right-clicking on Apple laptops is *FAR* better than a second physical trackpad button anyway. And I speak as a MacBook and HP Compaq laptop owner.
Two-fingered scrolling = even better. -
