- CptZap, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25TextMate is worth it in itself, well, as long as they raise $100k.
- onerythym, on 10/12/2007, -7/+23over $ 3000 raised for charity in the first hour! amazing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17TextMate: excellent text editor, particularly for programmers (even more particularly for Rails programmers) and interhipsters.
NewsFire: Nice, simple, pretty feed reader. I bought a NetNewsWire license when NewsFire was less mature, and I love NNW, but I'm going to give NewsFire another look now that the feature set has caught up a little bit. (Still not as rich as NNW, but that's not necessarily bad.)
ShapeShifter: OS X theming app. Pretty ok if you like that kind of thing, I guess. I never found any themes that were really better than OS X's out-of-the-box look, and $20 always seemed kind of steep for something so thoroughly superficial.
Delicious Library: I use this to keep track of which numbered box my original CDs, DVDs, and games are in. It's ok, but it's a little bit slow and hasn't seen significant new features almost since it launched-- disappointing.
The others I haven't used. - amfr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15The best part is: 25% of the money gets donated to charity!
Congrats to phill and the rest of the team - wheelsee, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16woot! Bundle #82! Digg this up for awesome apps and raising money for charity!

If they hit the 100k mark, Textmate in itself is worth the cost. I've tried just about every text editor for Mac and I find this one to be the best for web developers. Really no bloat. - m99stump, on 07/29/2008, -2/+10I used to use Smultron and its a great free app, but its a toy compared to TextMate
Anyway, I already own TextMate, but really wanted Delicious Library... and Pangea Arcade Rocks. I have Net News Wire but wouldn't be afraid to try something else... and charity. You can't really go wrong. - andrewcod, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11The final list of apps is Delicious Library, FotoMagico, Shapeshifter, DEVONthink Personal, Disco, RapidWeaver, iClip 4, One Pangea Game, NewsFire, and TextMate, bringing the package's total value to $288.75. Meanwhile, you pay just $49, or $39 if you've taken part in the weekly heists. Not bad :-)
- heresy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8The only thing I really want is TextMate so hurry up and get it to 100k guys. :P
- mikev, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10TextMate is the greatest text editor ever. If you say ***** off to a app like TextMate, please see a doctor.
- Linh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9@vince1731
I find disco to be a very decent program, does what I want it to nicely (so far). Yeah, the smoke thing is a bit gimicky, but it's entertaining.
rapidweaver looks cool for quick websites to throw up info, and there are a few times that it would have been useful for me.
iClip 4 is useful, but I don't know if I could get the hang of using it.
But the biggest thing here is textmate thrown into the mix if they can reach 100k. It's a gamble, but I figure they're donating to charity so it's not a complete loss for me (as I have disco and newfire already..). - onerythym, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9the issue is only with PAYPAL orders, I just used MasterCard instead and it worked perfectly, allready have my recipt and im downloading the bundle now :)!
- unfinity, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Not too sure why the developers of FotoMagico think it's worth $80, but this is otherwise a great bundle of apps at a great price. Definitely picking this up.

Welcome to digg. - Linh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8doh, 100k for charity until textmate is released... i misread that... that might be a bit harder. I was thinking $100k in sales.
- onerythym, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7My purchase went through fine, got an email instantly, got serials or links to get serials for the apps, be sure to check out the forum for the latest info. Hopefully any issues will be taken care of soon. Cheers!
- Silkjaer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Fantastic concept :) And great apps!
- orliville, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Great apps, great charities. What more is there to say?
- norick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6If we buy this, will we have free updates in the futur?
- Academicballa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4this is awesome. I almost bought Delicious Library last week alone! Now I get a slew of applications and some of the money is getting donated to charity. That's awesome.
- FightingEvil, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I was going to buy TextMate anyway so this bundle could be a great deal.
Here's the problem: It sounds like a lot of folks really want TextMate and won't buy unless it's included. However, if too many people wait for TextMate to be unlocked, we may end up being short of the $100k mark.
Decisions, Decisions - gusx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It went up about $1000/hour this afternoon
- REBELinBLUE, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12Why has this guy been buried?
You people can be such bloody minded idiots at times. - badnewsblair, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I haven't used it yet (but I will try it out now that I purchased this bundle), DEVONthink is recommended by Life Hacking guru Merlin Mann (43folders.com).
- khiddy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5You're absolutely wrong about DEVONThink - it has nothing to do with the Finder, but everything to do with meaning. It's a program that is devoted to sorting out information, not files... just because you can import files into the program doesn't mean that it's a Finder competitor. Read the Devon Technologies website and learn a bit before you go firing off your mouth.
http://devon-technologies.com/products/devonthink/ - starlord1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Yeah I went for it in the end, decided delicious library and taking rapidweaver out for a spin made it worthwhile. I need to design a new site and can't be bothered thinking about it... awesome. Sent my donation to Cancer Research as that's what I support here in the UK too.
- cybertron3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5If it gets (or looks like it will get) Text mate, I will buy it.
It is an awesome collection tho. - placain, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Damn. I've already purchased most of the apps in the bundle that I want.
- koregaonpark, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6You can give the licenses of the apps you already own to other people.
- tainc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Just bought three bundles. Talk about the ultimate xmas gift for my friends! (add'l discounts for 2 or 3)
- unfinity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I'll be surprised if NewsFire doesn't make it, but TextMate may be a bit of a stretch...
- caublb, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Makes me almost want to buy a Mac!
- khiddy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I've been looking at DevonThink Personal for quite a while, and just haven't pulled the trigger on buying it until today through the bundle.
I DevonThink to sort and summarize and group quotations for my Masters' Thesis - I study philosophy, so the program is well-suited to linking ideas and generating webpages for my project. It's a text/webpage/snippet keeper extrordinaire.
The rest of the bundled programs are simply bonus for me. I already own and use iClip, and Delicious Library will be mere eye candy for my fiancee's computer. Good bundle! - XCool, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I bought them and got the registrations in no time at all... ;)
- DarkJC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+447000 bundles sold is MORE than enough for TextMate...
Assuming each bundle sells at $49, that is $2,303,000 in Bundle Revenue. Take 25% of that to get donations to charity, and you get ...
$575,750 donated to charity. - hobbsy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5looks like a good deal....
was considering purchasing Newsfire anyway
US/UK exchange rate brings this to ~£25 - badnewsblair, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That doesn't make any sense. First, I doubt you have ALL of the titles in this bundle. Second, if you would be giving your money to charity either way, why not get free "award winning" software while you are at it?
- dohidied, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Wow, I'm glad I didn't buy Delicious Library and Disco separately. This is a very nice deal.
- thesekeys, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5and a fun project to be a part of!
- ruslanr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2apparently yes, but for the actual version only. for example, you get software 1.3, you get free updates through 1.x and get a minimum discount of 60% for 2.0
- OrangeTide, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6I think I'll just donate directly. I have no use for these apps. I never understood the point of Disco when I could burn with Disk Utility.
- Decimit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I think this is a great idea. I remember reading about MacHeist a while ago before they reveled what it was about, but since I have never gone back. This was the first place I saw this news. Once again, digg brings me all my important news.
- REBELinBLUE, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I already purchased Delicious (although I'm not a huge fan of it) and Textmate weeks ago. The only app there I want is NewsFire (although Nanosaur 2 looks cool from the demo). Not sure I'm willing to buy the bundle and run the risk of not getting the one app I'll use. Shame Transmit wasn't included also, likelihood is I would have purchased it then.
Ah well, it has been fun. Thanks Phil and co! - starlord1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Bollocks just realized I didn't mean feedburner, I meant NewsFire - to many hot flaming metaphors - my humblest and most sincere apologies if either camps are offended by my terrible gaffe.
- badnewsblair, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3We are working on it! :)
- mikewhalley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Go on... buy it :-) After all, it's only 49 bucks :-)
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I already own NetNewsWire, so I can't say anything about NewsFire. I swear by TextMate though. It has replaced vim as my holy grail of text editors. It's just a pleasure to use.
Delicious library is also a cool app, but unless you have a lot of movies or CDs and you want to keep track of them it's not really useful. I use it, but not even every week.
If you want 2 or more of these apps then I would suggest getting the bundle. ... I would buy it if I didn't already own what I want out of those apps. - realpolitik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Not all people are paying $49. Many customers have earned a discount on the bundle (up to $10) by participating in MacHeist events over the past 5 weeks.
- Soukyan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Discounts for Macheist participants. If you solved heists, you earned $2.00 discounts. Each person could have anywhere between $2 and $10 off for participating in the heists.
- badnewsblair, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I was #646.
You purchased your bundle 2 hours ago (I waited an hour to post this).
That is a difference of 564 bundles purchased. Divide that by the 2 hour difference and we get an approximate average of 282 orders per hour.
IF that keeps up (which it won't but...) that is ~6,700 per day. Multiply that time 7 for the whole week it is being offered that gives us a total of ~47,000 bundles sold.
That is roughly $82,000 worth of donations. Just short of TextMate. Perhaps the orders per hour will go up? -
